Rob Burrow funeral: Hundreds line the streets to bid farewell to rugby league hero
The funeral of rugby league legend Rob Burrow is few minutes to take place with loved ones saying a final goodbye on a very special day especially selected in the history of the sportsman.
family and friends will be attending Rob's funeral at Pontefract Crematorium, in Pontefract, West Yorkshire. The date marks Rob Burrow Day - the annual celebration held by Leeds Rhinos since 2021 in honour of the iconic scrum half, who wore a number 7 shirt throughout his successful career
Details of his funeral, announced by the Rhinos, a private service for invited guests only will take place at Pontefract Crematorium, but people are being invited to line the streets to pay their respects as the funeral cortege makes its way to the service.
Members of the public are asked to be in position from 1pm. The cortege will travel along the A656 (Park Road) passing the Xscape leisure complex on their right as it travels towards the M62 junction.
The cars will continue along the A639 towards Pontefract passing Pontefract Racecourse before turning onto Park Lane (B6134) near Pontefract Tanshelf train station.
The cortege will follow along Ackton Lane into Ackton before turning left onto Sewerbridge Lane and Common Side Lane (B6133) heading towards Featherstone.
Rob Burrow lost his battle with Motor Neurone Disease on June 2nd, five weeks ago today, with the 41-year-old finally succumbing to the condition after battling bravely for four-and-a-half years.
Since he confirmed his diagnosis back in December 2019, Rob Burrow reminded everyone how they should live life - with a smile on your face and love in your heart. He truly was a real-life superhero and an inspiration for so many.

My wife was diagnosed with M N D last year what a horrible thing to live with and no cure rob and kev and dodie 😢 have done a fantastic job of making front and center God love ❤️ them

I’m a rugby union player fan but I’m can remember watching rugby league when Rob Burrow was playing his stuff and he was a great player RIP Rob

My friend simon dad died from this
