I am sure that groceries prices in Roatan today are very different than when this video was filmed. I bet it's expensive now. ONE LOVE !

Truly mind blowing that Roatan is what it is today.... I visited back in 2008 and it was still very 3rd world. Very few paved roads, most of them mud or dirt roads with pot holes the size of VW bugs... I heard that Roatan has become a retirement destination for many people from different countries. When I was there the island was mostly covered in mangroves. Now when I google earth it, the island is covered in housing developments and West Bay beach has almost disappeared. (There are so many more resorts on it...) Infiniti Bay was just breaking ground when I was there.... While I very much enjoyed the island, people, and the speed at which everything moves (or doesn't), I did feel that they needed a greater infrastructure to ever visit again...Not to mention all of the trash that the locals just throw into the sea... I saw everything from old rusted pipes, PVC, Car tires etc.... And all of that not 200 yards from a "protected marine park".... it was a shame to see what "progress" had created, and the fact that they didn't seem to care that they were destroying the very thing that people came to see.... Is there any coral even left that isn't brown and dead or dying? I didn't realize how bad the reefs looked in Roatan (with the exception of West End Wall) until I visited Cozumel... That's what a healthy reef is supposed to look like... Even after Wilma crushed it...

Hmmm well I love Roatan, and nows the time to go. I was just there last year, and the charming dirt roads were being black topped and more and more tourist show up every year. Modernization is great for the people of Honduras, but not while vacationing and trying to escape the trappings of a modern world
