Looking it up, "Harry and Ginny Weasley's son Albus uses a Time-Turner and prevents Cedric's death. Due to his humiliation in the Triwizard Tournament, Cedric eventually becomes a Death Eater and kills Neville Longbottom."

This story makes our fanfics look like published bestsellers.

Yes, I have so much fanfic in my head. I'm just not all that great at transferring it to the page and making it do justice. The stories are all there, they just don't translate to paper well and that's because I'm not the worlds best word Smith. But all that aside… There were some characters in the original books that could have had much bigger roles, had big hearts and could have done so much more good in the world. They were squandered opportunities, and I like to write about them. Filius Flitwick is one of my main fanfic characters that I write about. So much squandered opportunity in that character in the original books. 😞😔 Anyway, just thought I would mention it as I haven't found many fanfic writers or at least fanfic imagine is out there.

This made my fanfic where Neville's parents died instead and Harry has younger siblings in Slytherin look like a masterpiece The cringiest part for me was Delphi's "natural blue hair" like how in the world did they give a green light to this. This is straight out of a fanfic and I won't be surprised if it was plagiarized from an actual fanfic.

I think the thing I hate the most about this book is Harry himself. Harry is a man who's been through a lot from losing loved ones to being tortured and killed. In the end Harry is still someone who cares deeply about those he loves. He's patient, encouraged his fellow students during the DA to be better during their lessons, put himself in danger constantly to save everyone and stop Voldemort. Harry can be looked at as someone who despite all the hardships can emerge a stronger person. Harry's worse enemy is Voldemort; a wizard who uses his intelligence and power for evil. But one of Harry's best friends is Dumbledore; a wizard who uses his intelligence and power for good. The Harry Potter of this book is not any of those things. He is violent, judgemental, immature, manipulative, arrogant, and, worst of all, he's cruel. He's cruel to his friends and family and is equally nasty towards his enemies. He's even cruel to the one person he should never be to; his own son treating him just as bad as how the Dursely's treated him when he was a kid. It's disgusting to see Harry be this way to his own child. It's equally infuriating seeing him be nasty towards McGonagall and Dumbledore like trash too. This isn't Harry at all; this is what Snape always thought Harry was like; an arrogant, big headed, selfish, hotshot who loves to pick on others. Just remember the final lines in Deathly Hallows to know this book isn't canon, everyone; The scar hadn't pained him in nineteen years. *All was well.*

To be honest that happens only after Harry saves him from those roots. Before he was so eager to get the cup and from my memory pushed Harry. So those things never happened and he never wanted Harry to win over himself

It is canon, according to Rowling, as you said. But to me, who writes AUs/sequels/crossovers to HP and PJO universes, I heavily consider canon (keep mostly everything the same except a few things that I feel would be misplaced, or which I priorly wrote fics about), except for AUs, of course. I carefully analyze everything and look back at chapters over and over again. This book is not canon compliant, thus should not be canon, and by extension, not canon to me, who wants to be an author, and reads books multiple times to see patterns.

Cedric becoming a death eater is the most convoluted thing I’ve ever heard.

In my opinion, we already spent 7 books defeating Voldemort, it's lazy to try and bring the whole idea of him back with his daughter. That really bugged me. They could've made another villain, but they didn't, and that's just a lack of imagination. I'm not going to address the time turners...

and the fact that they could have done it differently so easily. Rowling has left some loose thread if she ever wanted to continue the franchise. One that enters my mind is when harry drops the stone at the end of the series in the forest. Instead of this bullcrap something to do with the stone would still be better. Other is in the book we learn that hallows are true stuff and not just some myth so someone trying to become the master of death is much more plausible than this bullshit. like there are dozens of possibilities and they go on with this shitty excuse for a "canon story". They could even have done cursed child better where we go more on teddy and the story line should be massively revamped.

Easier way. Delphi exist. She's not the Daughter of Voldy, but refers to herself as such, since she's so fanatic about his legacy that she wants to "connect" to him. Make her a descendant one of the former Death Eaters from a family of the sacred 28 and done. Could work. Since Voldy and his peers are somewhat an allegory to N**zis. Delphi could get people around her o n the IDEA of Voldy as a sort of Neo N**zi thing.

I can understand Cedric being somewhat annoyed that he lost the tri-Wizard tournament. However, being so mad, he started fighting alongside the death eaters. That’s way past ridiculous! Sure I can see his father being that mad maybe. Although that event is even a bit hard!

@@lapplandkun9273 Yes, but it doesn't mean that they were faultlessly loyal. A hero character becoming corrupted due to external events is something you often see in stories. He didn't suddenly become bad overnight either, the setting in question was like 30 years in the future (after Goblet of Fire) in a dark timeline.

One other thing you forgot to mention, when Ginny and Harry fight it’s not just Harry who’s out of character, but Ginny too. Ginny was always so understanding and patient towards Harry and she knows the pain and suffering he’s been through. Ginny would never treat Harry like that

There's no way the original Harry we know and love would be an attention-seeking jerk like Malfoy (before redemption). Last time I saw Deathly Hallows Part 2, he and Ginny became loving parents to Albus Severus Potter and their two other children 19 years later. I bet Daniel Radcliffe would be really disappointed at Cursed Child for ruining the character he brought to life on the big screen.

like Morgan said, Harry acts a lot like Lockhart in the Cursed Child. the primary reason for Dumbledore hiring Lockhart in the first place was just to show Harry what he could become if he developed an ego and/or didn't keep his ego in check. Dumbledore's famous line "there is plenty to be learned from a bad teacher ... what not to do, how not to be" all but confirms this.

@Wooly Puffin "Once Upon A Time" had the same thing happening. It was so annoying. The last season was so different that the previous ones and not in a good way. (Most OG characters were gone too and the kids, who were way too quirky imo, took the spotlight instead.)

Adding on to the mcgonagall thing, Harry was so angry when omicus spat on mcgonagall that he successfully used the cruciartus curse on him, something he couldn’t even do right when he used it on bellatrix who just killed his godfather. Let me say it again:Harry wanted to hurt someone who spat on mcgonagall more then someone who just killed his godfather right in front of him

The scene where Harry treats McGonagall so poorly is so infuriating for me. The writers of cursed child, just happened to forget that the only time Harry successfully used the Cruciatus curse was on Amycus Carrow when he spit on McGonagall. Harry only felt respect and love towards McGonagall, and the way he treats her in cursed child is unforgivable.

I actually feel bad for the actors because they deserve better than what they got.

Cedric, the kid who told Harry he could take the Tri-Wizard Cup and win the tournament because he saved his life in the maze, becomes a Death Eater because he lost? Harry, a very humble and self-depricating man, becomes a Lockehart level narcissist? Hermione is.... black? Ron, a serious and insecure but fiercely loyal and brave man becomes joke making, dumb, laughingstock mockup of Fred and George? Yeah, this is the dumbest sequel in history.

The most ridiculous thing about this story, in my opinion, is the moment where Snape says he is proud that Albus Severus was named after him. Now, I have nothing against Snape. I think he is actually one of the most entertaining and well-written characters in the franchise, especially in the books, where he is constantly given amusing and sarcastic moments. However, he would sooner kiss Sirius than say he is proud that James Potter's grandson carries his name. He would probably be disgusted and furious that a boy who looks like his childhood tormentor was named after him. He would likely take this as a personal insult, thinking that Harry only named his son "Albus Severus" out of pity for him. He certainly wouldn't be proud.

Actually I think Snape would be proud, because although Albus is James’s grandson, he is also Lilly’s grandson. Besides he would never admit it but over the years I think he took a certain liking to Harry.

There was NO way Bellatrix was that pregnant in the books or the movies. Her belly would have to be bulging out a lot, and she wouldn't be able to pull off the moves she did if she was pregnant.

People seem to forget Bellatrix had a husband but diidnt reallyl ove him. movie flame made his own version of this and removed all the voldremort child stuff bc it made ZERO sense.

The thing that bothered me the most other than the portrayal of harry was the time travel. not only did they bring it back after all the time turners had been destroyed, but it works completely differently. in PoA, what they went back in time to do had already happened, if that makes sense. but in cursed child, they could actually change time which I hated. there are two main ways to have time travel go, and you have to pick one

in PoA, it was a closed time loop. Everything you do has already happened. So u cant change the future. But TCC created 3 different, parallel timelines which obliterated the original timeline. and time turners in PoA are just for short times, I think its established somewhere the maximum amount of hours u can go back in time without any disasterous outcome is just 5 hours. TTo use the same kind of time turner to go back years, they would have to turn it 24*365*23 times, that is, assuming they knew the exact date and time of the First Task.

@@udraj914 I would say that technically even with time loop you can change the future but it has complications. Basically, up until you have time travelled, you (time traveller) must not know the outcome of your time travel and must not know that you made any changes. Eg in PoA Harry and Hermione didn't know that they actually saved Buckbeak, Sirius and that Harry cast that Patronus charm until they time travelled and were doing these things. Likewise, if you use a PoA Time Turner to go back in time to kill someone who has done bad things (eg Voldemort or Umbridge), you the time traveller must not know that you did it until you do it. So to kill Voldemort before he rises to power, you have to travel very far back in time to the point you chose, kill him, but then you would likely have to use Polyjuice potion to take his identity and commit all the same atrocities under his name and face so one day the pre-time travel version of you hears about them and decides to go back in time to kill Voldemort. You cannot return forward in time after making the trip back in time, so you have to take the slow way and just live through the decades. Voldemort was a famous and dark wizard, so you have countless atrocities to commit in order not to diverge from the timeline. However, there are some loopholes with what you are doing. Eg, instead of killing some of Voldemort's original victims you can tell them to go away into hiding or some sort of cryosleep until a set date (but make it look like you killed them). You have to live at least up to the point when the pre-time travel version of you makes the trip. However, after you have reached that point, you would no longer have to pretend to be Voldemort and therefore can live the rest of your life in a Voldemort-free world. All those people that Voldemort would have killed but you only made it look like he killed cam now come out too. Like I said, there are complications but from a technical point, you can make changes to the future with a time-loop mode of time travel.

As far as we know Tom Riddle never had a girlfriend or any flings or trysts that we know of during his time as a student in Hogwarts and after. I always assumed he died a virgin because despite all his charm, power and intelligence (and teenage good looks), he had too much of a narcissistic complex to the point where he probably thought nobody was worthy enough to get into his pants. And even if you want to argue that he and Bellatrix shacked up to produce a child, that also doesn't line up considering how self centered and egotistical he was. He never intended on leaving behind an heir since he expected he would live forever.

I think the worst character they made in the cursed Child was of Cedric. He was literally portrayed as a shitty boy having no other objective than winning a tournament and that he turned into a death eater because of that. The original Cedric wouldn't do it even if Voldemort tortured him to do it. He was perhaps the most flawless and sweetest character in the entire series, who asked for a rematch when Harry passed out because of the dementors even when they had won, was almost feeling ashamed when his father praised him in front of Harry, also asked Harry to take the cup and win the tournament. You're telling me it's the same Cedric who asked Harry to win the tournament would become a death eater because he didn't win the tournament? That's absolute bullshit. And btw, the same Harry who used the cruciatus curse on Amycus Carrow when he spat on McGonagall's face would call McGonagall "the professor"? And the same Harry who thought of Hogwarts being his home a few moments before his death would ever even dare to take down the school? This is absolutely ridiculous. Besides, they made him a Lockhart 2.0.

Cursed Child Ron is definitely based off of the doofus movie Ron. All they really had to do was have him be close with George to explain it as him stepping up to be there for his brother. I like the idea, but they did Ron dirty like they always do.

Honestly tho, the only SENSIBLE parent in this book was Draco, you gotta give it to him. The only good thing about this book is Draco, and Albus and Scorpius vibing together

What bothers me is that they didn't even consider adding Rose to the plot. It would have been so nice to have Scorpius, Albus and Rose be the new golden trio and then develop Rose's and Scorpius' relationship. Missed opportunity tbh

The only stuff I see to be canon are that Albus became a Slytheren and befriended Scorpius. And that Draco's wife died from a blood curse. That's it pretty much.

even albus being in slytherin is bit edgy. Because it is the choice of a person or something along this line that dumbledore tells harry about sorting hat making decisions. Even in the epilogue we see albus being scared he might be in slytherin meaning he doesnt want to be a slytherin and the sorting hat would go on with albus's decision. Because throughout the series we see that if anyone has a choice of house where they want to be they end up there no matter circumstance. Eg, sirius black. However albus could have been a slytherin but the idea of that is very very unlikely based on the original series and the epilogue

I would make Scorpius his third friend (after an OC Slytherin and Hufflepuff). He would be shy, sarcastic, antisocial. Becoming friends with Albus helped with his antisocial-ness (that even a word?), though his sarcastic and crowd-detached and studious personality is still there.

Imagine the situation Hermione would be in after taking the polyjuice potion and turning into Bellatrix. If Bellatrix was actually pregnant it would be obvious that the Bellatrix in Gringotts would be an imposter.

The interview between Rowling and the main screenwriter (Kloves) showed how she had come to hate Ron because so many readers told her he was their favorite character. Often wondered if that's why she was okay with him getting trashed in the films as well as The Play That Shall Not Be Named. She was also okay with letting Kloves turn Hermione into Little Miss Perfect at the same time. So, yeah, she was just after the big bucks by then also.

As far as the Parseltongue goes, it isn't impossible he could simply learn it again. Afterall, Ron was able to at least learn simple commands just by remembering what Harry had said, that's how he got into the Chamber in Deathly Hallows. This proves that while Parseltongue is often an innate ability, it can _also_ be a learned skill. That said, you would have to ask the question: _why?_

There was another youtuber who reviewed this screenplay (I forget the name), and he said something that rings true. He said, "The Harry Potter books are mystery stories disguised as a fantasy story. The Cursed Child is a time travel story disguised as a Harry Potter story."

Books 1-7: carefully crafted and well written main character. Cursed Child: The character of Harry Potter will now be written by acclaimed KZread channel The Take.

@@khfan4life365 She never said Hermione's black. She said she never specified her skin color, so she doesn't have a canon race. Also JKR said she would've made it clear that Dumbledore is gay if she'd known people would react positively to it. It was 2007 and having a gay character in a children's story was new. It's not like nowadays where it's extremely common to insert a token gay + POC character into stories for the sake of diversity. And the books did portray Dumbledore with a few gay stereotypes, like him wearing flower bonnets, high heel boots and a flamboyantly cut purple suit.

I think it's so crucial that bad content like Cursed Child gets called out. It's the same reason ppl called out the Star Wars Trilogy: Execs will exploit an IP knowing that fans will always consume it. They take advantage of this and as a result risk ruining a franchise/IP. Keep up the good work, sir!

I can't believe that the writers that wrote Cursed Child, I'm actually so mad that they made Cedric a deatheater, Ron's personality is all wrong, and Harry being like Lockhart. I'm so mad that Rowling aproved this! I think a good sequel could have been a new villain with a main character that wasn't Albus but maybe someone like Teddy, just someone that wasn't Harry or related to him.

They could have played into the whole Ron being a jokester as a way of him still trying to cope with Fred's death but I think they got confused and fused him with Fred instead

The problem the cursed child, is that the writers couldn't move on. They couldn't create a plot that wasn't based on Voldemort. Albus being sorted onto Slytherin & best friends with Scorpius is not a bad plot. However, a good sequel would be a plot that explores further aspects of the wizarding world, which weren't fully covered in the the original series.

11:09 another question. I know they had to cram the blanket in for plot but if James got the invisibility cloak it only makes sense that Albus got the Marauders map. Harry himself said this two items were there secret to his success in his adventures at Hogwarts. Not to mention the cloak is a family heirloom and the map was written by his father, God father, Lupin and the traitors. Might as well be an heirloom.

Even then they should be too old, uk what I mean? Like even Dumbledore was less than 150 when he died and he looked old enough 🙃

Maybe we can conclude that this whole story about Cursed Child was just a nightmare for Albus while he was asleep, travelling in Hogwarts Express for his first year. That way this can be a canon because, it's just a worst dream, ever. :-D
