ROASTING MILAN FASHION WEEK (versace has officially lost it, bottega veneta sucks, and celine dion)

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

The Italian fashion brands like Prada, Gucci, and Bottega Veneta are legendary brands who are sought out for their leather and non-leather goods, but did their collections hold up to that legacy? Gucci explored childhood, which pushed Alessandro Michele's imagination. Richard Quinn cleaned up with his Moncler Genius runway show, which was an out-there outerwear take on brand signatures. Prada was weird but reflected on brand signatures, which is nice but still complex to take in. Moschino just said "Let them eat cake" but I don't know if Jeremy Scott understands the word's more modern meaning. Francesco Risso's Marni just reminded me of the Somebody That I Used To Know" music video. This Versace collection will most likely live on, as the crusty finale dress hem is unforgettable for all the wrong reasons. Bottega Veneta is just weird, like every season. It just makes no sense, but the bags are nice. And Fendi closed out the week with a powerful dissertation on fabrics and textile manipulation done masterfully by Silvia Venturini Fendi.

Its actually very simple: The magazine needs to make money especially the big ones (big magazine = much money needed to pay off everthing) They have mainly 2 sources of income: 1. Customers = sales of the magazines 2. Ads, brands pay to be in the ad As the revenue of the Ad section depends on a high nr of sales, the magazines content alias the magazine-buyer is prioritised. So they need to favor the buyer- many buyers in the case of elle/vouge. As there are very often many different brands in the ads over and over again, the magazine cant always write the same opinion about the brands, they feature in the ads. That would bore the buyer and delivers an inauthentic picture of the magazine. To get the sales, they also feed several types of consumers, thats why they end up hypocritical from time to time. Before complaining we should consider that those big photoshoots, the high fashion magazines are famous for, wouldnt be possible without the high nr of sales. There are plenty of smaller magazines on the market, which are less hypocritical, so there is plenty of space for individual preferences for everyone :) In the end we could be happy that they dont please the advertiser like that. For me writing in favor of the advertiser would mean that freedom of expression/press and opinion is beeing squizzed by financial interesst. (which is already happening enough in the world)

Oh WOW those Richard Quinn patterns are absolutely GORGEOUS. When was the last time a designer introduced a fresh new pattern to the runway? I've never seen anything like it. I loved every single look, and those pieces can easily be translated to commercial fashion. Take away the headdresses, and those coats and tights would easily be toned down for street wear if worn separately. P.S. This is the first time I've ever liked anything from Moschino. Those denim and gold embroidery outfits slayed in every way.

I honestly feel that designers for example Donna(Versace) and Jeremy (Moschino) are trying to appeal to Black American’s by making their clothing look more alighted to hip hop culture “hoodies, sneakers, chains etc. This fails because it comes across as cheesy , played , tired ,not sincere and a cheap knock off of black Americans culture . The reason why Black American Styling is so beautiful is because of the substance and story behind the reasonings we styled our clothes the way we did and do now . The way a Black American wears Versace has a story we appreciate the designers . Now these collections are trying to capitalize off of our us and they are loosing their substance we loved from the beginning.

Luke! I love your channel and reviews of fashion. How you described Moschino collection as Marie Antoinette wearing modern fabrics is exactly how I described a 3-piece collection I designed in fashion school last year for my thesis which was a collection of denim wear with influences from the French court. Is Moschino stealing my ideas? Or do similar minds think alike? I loved your review!
