I have always wondered about the fact he calls him Mammon in the song. One hand it's the name of a demon prince (or some high ranking one) On the other, it's close to the spanish word "mamón" which means something like: idiot. Seeing as Tarja's husband is Argentinian it could be a bit of a double jab

Mammon is also referring to money. You can't serve God and Mammon at the same time refers to monks and nuns giving their vows of poverty to not have earthly possessions distracting them from serving God. So I would assume this is what Toumas is referring to despite him not being religious. The guy (Tarja's husband) always trying to get more money from the pie instead of serving the art is serving money before art (Mammon over God)

Argentinean here. We don´t use the word mamón, other spanish speakers use it. That being said, it wouldnt be too far fetched to think that Thuomas doesn´t know a lot about argentinean mannerisms and specific slang and just thought that it makes sense for us.

'Mammon' is actually wealth or richness, that was achieved by unrightful, illegal and/or immoral means and/or was used in the before mentioned manner. Thanks to the mentioning in the Bible ('You can't serve both masters, God and Mammon, at the same time) 'Mammon' became the demonized personification of unrightful wealth and immoral use of money. Nowadays, Mammon is just a negative synonym of money in general, but again in a negative way.

This album was a masterpiece. Definitely in my top ten albums of any genre. To be completely honest, I think I enjoy the instrumental version of the album (or however they released the edition with the entire album as a second set of tracks with the vocal layers removed, iTunes represents those tracks as a second volume) more than the standard version of the album. With the vocals removed I appreciate the writing even more because every track is so stunningly well written from the ground up and can stand on its own without the need to have lyrics to give meaning or beauty.

I do not think of Marko as the third backup singer. As I vaguely remember their first album Angels Fall First, Tuomas did some backing vocals that sounded flat to me, and he never did them again. Remember, they were a young band with no money. Tapio was never a backup singer. He was a primary vocalist on "The Devil ...." and "The Pharaoh Sails to Orion". Hiring Marko was one of the best decisions the band ever made. Marko is a trained guitarist/singer who also played bass. Sometimes he did backing vocals, sometimes he was the primary vocalist, and sometimes he was the equal in a duet.

The other thing about Marcelo (and this song is so about him), was he was Tarja's manager at the time (pretty sure he still is). There's a scene in the End of an Era DVD that for me, shows the split between Tarja and the band. They are doing an interview or talking in the scene, you've got them sitting in a semi-circle. Tuomas, Marco, Emppu and Marco are sitting on one side of the semi-circle, then there's Marcelo and then Tarja. It felt like the band had to go through Marcelo to get to Tarja.

So true about the choice of finger/pick on bass. Watch MISA on Band Maid videos and live and while she is playing primarily with a pick, pretty much every song, somewhere she'll palm that pick like Harry Houdini and play slap or some songs just with fingers. For me it's as much about preference as it is the song. David Ellefson of Megadeth, uses a Pick. Marko. Jason Newsted. Many many more. The you have Steve Harris (Iron Maiden), Miho from Lovebites, Rob Trujillo, Cliff Burton who destroy on the bass with fingers. For myself I prefer to play with fingers, but after having my dominant wrist rebuilt, I had to switch to a pick for endurance and pain management.

Headbanging right along with you on this one. The orchestra really kills on this one, especially the brass at the end. There is another song that is heavy and angry (nothing like this of course) but still packs a punch. I suggested it on Chase Carneson's channel too, it's "Slaying the Dreamer" from their Century Child Album...it's a Tarja song, so might be a cool double reaction.

Hell you're right about picks. But how hard a RHCP with pick!! Keep on make me headbang, no restrain like yours yesterday 😅 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻

This song alongside While your lips are still red are my favorite Marko songs that are rarely reactioned too 😅, so thank you and Chase for doing it (actually Chase also did While your lips are still red so...*hint,hint). PS: Muse has been my favorite band growing up so I'm sooo excited to see a reaction to them too 😁! Some song recommendations for them would be (if you're not familiar with them yet): Stockholm Syndrome, Hysteria, New Born, Bliss, The Handler

Great reaction, man! I can't wait for more of these Nightwish studio songs, since there are plenty that they've never played live or played in a long time. Getting a little bit into the husband/firing topic, I'd say that if what the band says is true, I wouldn't be surprised knowing how Argentinians are. Before someone judges me, I'm from Argentina too and I know we aren't all like that, but I can totally see the rumors being true. Also, there's an old video (recorded in 2007) of Marko recording those vocal lines. It's about 4 minutes long and totally worth watching. You can find it as '''Nightwish - recording in E-major studios 2007''

From the official biography of Nightwish, it's clear that Tarja's husband/manager, Marcelo, was such a pain in the ass for the band's business that I think they were getting rid of Marcelo in the first place, and Tarja's firing was just a necessary part of that.

It is also a strong hint that Anette isn't in this song - because she had nothing to do with the subject matter. Same goes for some parts in Bye Bye Beautiful...

As long as you achieve the sound you want you can play your instrument the way you like it. I never get this you have to do it so and so mentality - no not when it's about art. Art is about expressing yourself & if you're good leaving a question/smile/memory/emotion in the mind of the one who is seeing/hearing/feeling it. This was fun to watch - it really felt like a hang out with the chat & all (: Thanks Tank (: Greetings from Berlin

One thing I love when watching reactors such as yourself, is that I start to focus more on the music and the lyrics. Normally I have music playing on the background all the time and it kind of fills the void when I'm doing something else. I hear the music but I'm not actually listening to it. Watching these videos forces me to focus more on the music itself. As a request, could you do a reaction to a song either from Angels Falls First, or the Oceanborn? Maybe something from their very first live DVD with Tony Kakko of Sonata Arctica, or Tapio Wilska from Finntroll singing?

The Bernie Meme at the beginning LOL! 😂😂 But for real, Marko is such a BAD ASS in this song, one of my favorites. ❤️ Edited to add: I forgot how much I love this song... it’s so heavy and powerful and the orchestra is freaking killing it, thanks for bringing it back to me.

Dude .... Enjoyed this one, thank you." Bye Bye Beautiful " takes NO PRISONERS ! When you see the lyrics, not any doubt what it's about. My guess is the " Red Barron " will be flying in tomorrow. Side note..... About 20 years ago met two guys while shooting craps about 3 AM in LV. After craps we had a drink , I asked what they did. Told me they played a concert earlier. Yep...Two of your Nickelback guys. said they were cousins and from Canada. I had no clue !

That base project looks great. Been wanting to add a base to my guitar collection. I think base would be fun to play. Started playing guitar 8 years ago after playing guitar hero and losing the only rock radio station in my area, so I had to take matters into my own hands. But always played the base in guitar hero.

I think a talented bassist is what they need to find. Because I think Tory can take over many parts of the vocals. It won't be the same but Troy's voice fits very well with Floor. But I would guess Floor could probably do duets with anyone.

Think if they played this in live when this was in more recent event, what would've everyone's faces looked like while playing this? I'm sure there would've been. Broken basses, Jukka jumping on his Drumms at the end. Emppu hitting his EV1 to The "one who should not be name's head". Lol, I CAN ONLY IMAGINE!

Toumas and co. like to ignore that Marcelo and Tarja only got close because Marcelo was the only one to help her and then stay with her and look after she got assaulted at a concert, even though he barely knew her at the time. The band just went off to get drunk.

You should react to While Your Lips Are Still Red by Nightwish live at Wembley. It has Marco at the forefront of everything and Troy is on electric guitar. Empuu is probably in the back chillin haha.
