I remember when I was a dumb kid and luckily my neighbor was a now retired cop but at the time he was a vet active cop, and was talking to an old buddy of his. He immediately knew something was wrong when I was about to walk to the car, I was promised wrestling magazines and he walked up behind me and scared the man away. He could've busted him...shit he probably did, caught the license plate and all as again he was a vet cop. I won't ever forget it, I begged him not to tell my mom, he agreed on the condition that I had to hear it sternly from him! I was in tears since at that point not only did I think I was in trouble he asked, "Would you rather take a grounding from your mom? Or do you never wanna see her again and cause her pain?" I said a grounding is OK. I love my mom and that was a wake up call. I make sure a few kids in the neighborhood do the same. Glad he decided to talk to an old buddy that day cause otherwise I wouldn't be writing this! A PSA on A PSA but seriously that day I knew...and Knowing really is half the battle...Lotta sick nuts out there. And they go after kids...ughh Disgusting! But teach your kids! Not everyone is a Saturday morning cartoon!

One of the very few times a Joe doesn't appear out of nowhere for the sake of lecturing kids. Roadblock was just minding his own business until the kid told him what was happening.

Roadblock: "When it comes to respecting children, some folks have no class! Instead of bringing you a prize, he'd be pounding yo ass!"

Well Frank Welker did voice other characters on this show so I'm pretty sure it is.

These were a pretty good idea at the time. They talked about a number of things that kids would need to know later on. It's a shame Snake Eyes doesn't talk, he knows a Lot of useful stuff that he could've told the kids about.

I've heard so much about these PSA but that was years ago...just getting around to watching them! Home alone always a roll of the dice!!

Before there was doxing on the internet, this was the best way to find someone's address.

I loved these PSAs as a kid :)

Those gi joe psa old school is so cool to watch again and again.

Clearly this is base housing and that kids father was a greenshirt trooper for GI Joe and knew roadblock working with the main team in the field.

I remember a later version of g i joe that did this same PSA with roadblock, but as far as I'm concerned, did it much better. Setting was more afternoon/night. Roadblock was badass in that one. Wish i could find it.

The 80s were such a messed up and Dangerous Time for Kids. You can't get away with a lot of the stuff people did back then nowadays over the Internet or with cell phones.

Yeah, I don't know why people treat it like it's better than now. I mean, yeah, the movies and TV were better, but it had its share of crap and forgotten stuff, just like any other decade. Why don't people focus on the now instead of living in the past?

OMG, this is why I like these public service announcements from the 80s since they were animated because that boy was on the phone with someone he never seen before or known before and what happened that same guy drove up to his house and once he saw a roadblock, the stranger peels off to avoid getting caught and speaking of that, roadblock had to put the boy in his place for telling strangers about where he lives it and why he’s in there alone and things like that that is pretty bad in the world because you’re really not supposed to be on a telephone with a stranger and you’re really not supposed to tell them about where you live in it and if you’re alone or not because that’ll make it easy for them to show up at your house and commit a crime against you.

This seems to be the only PSA where the instructor doesn't jut pop out of nowhere. In this one, he's just walkin down the street, when a car stops, parks, looks at him, and drives off full speed.

I can only imagine this in real life PSA, The Rock as Roadblock (G.I. Joe: Retaliation, 2013) dragging out the stranger from his car & fighting him.

When the car showed up, they should've had the stranger say:"Uh-oh!" The stranger is not going to mess with a Joe, especially one that BIG! Strangers like the one in this video are sometimes people that are running from the law and need a hostage in case the police show up. They usually take kids because kids can't really fight them off. Although others are child molesters, too.

Still relevant today.

The parodies?

Yeah for those who haven't seen it, it starts roughly the same way, although you don't see the stranger on the phone, you just hear his voice. It's more like dusk, and the kid lives on an apartment block. Roadblock (or maybe it was Heavy duty, all I know is he wore a fullhead green headband) shows up and asks the kid why he's out when it's getting dark. When the kid explains, he says he'll stick around so he can see this prize. The car pulls up, but sits there for a bit. Then by far the best part happens. You get a POV from the stranger seeing the kid...and Roadblock, who just has this utterly badass glare. Then it shows part of the guy's face and he is just sweating bullets. THEN he drives off like a bat outta hell. Then its roughly the same line. "The only thing that guy wanted to give you was trouble." That psa was far more serious than this one, but as I said, pretty badass. Can't find it at all and I can't even find the corresponding series' Roadblock, which makes me think it might be a different character. But I know it WAS a GI joe series. If anyone knows this one and could find it, that would be awesome.
