Time we had a new Top Gear team, Nobby would be in my list, Johnny Smith too. Back to its roots as a more serious TV show. Would also need someone who really understands EVs and someone who knows their performance cars, maybe a rotation of several presenters.

Hate to disagree with you Nobby, but it isn't just the 4 wheel drive epower we get in Ireland. I own a front wheel drive x trail e power.

We're not really ever going to see studded tyres on the roads in UK or Ireland. While I enjoyed the video it'd have been nice to see the same cars on All Season tyres to give us an idea of how they'd go then. Looks like a nice jolly for you though!

Seems to me that normal winter tyres that are suitable for more moderate climbs would have been a better choice for your intended audience. Sure the Inuit would fit studded tyres.

Nissan is on a bit of a PR push of these cars. Lots of new Nissan content appearing telling us how good these cars are that nobody is buying.

Some manufacturers are increasing their ICE production again as their EVs are not selling. They would be bankrupt in a year as the market for evs is about saturated.

Why is it that manufacturers are giving us cars we don't need? Ok, they can make cars with 4WD that can handle Finland's snow and ice but how often do we get those conditions in Ireland, once every 10-15 years? They should be concentrating on making cars that are safe (SUVs are not "safe" if they hit a pedestrian) and economical. My now departed 13 year old Qashqai diesel managed 5.0-5.3 litres/100km and my current 1.3 petrol Megane does 5.6 l/100km. Neither of them were/are hybrids but they beat what these expensive hybrids actually do in real world driving. So why do we need hybrids with heavy batteries that are heavier on fuel once the battery dies? Why do we need EVs with 300-400km ranges when my 1.3 Megane can do over 800km on a full tank? Manufacturers need to go back to the drawing board and start producing economical ICE hatchbacks that do what families need them to do and forget about these SUV/hybrid/EV vanity projects.

100% agree! We ditched our EV SUV for a petrol auto car. Sitting in and seeing a range of 780km is pure magic after EV range anxiety.

@@seancotter4610 I think you’re just one of many who tried the EV route and decided they just don’t live up to the hype. A neighbour of mine has gotten rid of his EV6 for a diesel Skoda Superb and a colleague in work traded in his ID4 for petrol Corolla saloon. They both say the same thing, ie they can fill the car and go anywhere in Ireland and back without stopping multiple times at “rapid chargers” (if they could find a working one) that are more expensive than a fill up with fossil fuel. I think manufacturers missed a trick by not continuing to develop petrol cars to the point that they produced minimal emissions, were hyper efficient but could still do twice the range of an EV. I love my Megane and I’d hate to be forced into an EV.

In fairness, nobody is going to make cars that are specifically aimed at Ireland, its far too small. Agree on the range thing, I've a v90 weighing near 2 ton and it can do 1000km on a tank if you drive it handily. Suvs and ev's have a much higher profit margin, thats why they are pushing them on everyone.

No reviewers ever mention the driving experience in an ev vehicle, always specs. Maybe 100% of buyers are only interested in savings and could not care less about the driving experience.

Oh, so this is nissan comparing a proper off roader with a family ev car. This is nissan convincing you to keep buying fossil fuel cars by ensuring the X trail performs better. Put the X trail up against a rivian, a proper ev off roader. Then that's like for like. I don't get why Japanese car makers are so stuck in the past. Honda, Toyota, Suzuki and Nissan are all so far behind the game. The Chinese manufacturers that are decades ahead with ev and are going to dominate the market.
