Road King Special - The Harley Davidson of choice for 2024?

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

The Harley Davidson Road King has been around for a long time and such a classic bike. The Current Road King Special I think keeps those classic looks with the added cool features such as the stunning LED headlight. Full size panniers mean this bike is great for touring just as it is for looking cool. How does it compare to my Fat Bob 131 Stage 4? It Weighs 70 kg more so is it a slug or still awesome? I also talk about the Harley Owners Group (HOG) and our Fenlanders Chapter in this video and why it is one of the many reasons to consider Harley ownership.
A big thank you to everyone at Newmarket Harley Davidson, Dave for sorting our the warranty on my heated grips, Phil (again) for persuading me to go for the 131, Dan for sorting me out with this lovely Road King to try and Trog for giving Fat Bob a mini detail (looks like new again!) www.lind.co.uk/harley-davidso...

Love the RKS. I got a 2021 but first upgrade I did was change out bars to 16” apes. Way more comfortable than the factory bars. Harley’s nicest bagger in my opinion nice and clean without a fairing up front

Hi Martin. You need to try the st leger chapter iron horse rally ( 2 weeks after the cider rally). Held at havens blue dolphin site near Scarborough. Awesome venue and hoping to push some where near 500 attendees in 2024 😁

Not sure if you guys on the other side of the road have the New 135 motor option? But thats the way I would go. Legend rear air is what I have it offers the most options when it comes to ajustability. Keep the round side down. Great Video.

Indeed once can go with the 135 crate in this, or for 1/2 the price the 131 conversion (as I have) Cheers for commenting and watching.

I have the 23 RKS. Exactly the same vivid black. Great bike. I am loving it. The stock handlebars, however are absolut crap. It is fine for an hour or so, but then it's torture. The seat is ok. Nevertheless I've swaped it to saddleman, but the stock is ok, even for longer trips. One warning: I am 6 2 and I very much felt crammed. I changed the rear brake (Kuryakyn, but Softbrake is apparently also great), installed highway pegs and floorboard extensions. With the new KST Kustoms handlebars now it's perfect....:-)

Iam 6,2 also. How high did you go? I heard till 12” you have only need extend the wiring with a set. Till 14”you also need to swap out the clutch cable. What did you choose?

@@FrensTimmerpens Hi. I went for the 12" one. I don't like my arms stretched out, so I pulled the handlebars back as much as possible. It works just fine. Nevertheless, you might want to consider the 14" if you like your hands a bit higher up. Clutch cable - indeed KST says the stock clutch cable is fine with the 12". This is NOT true! You must get the clutch cable extension even for the 12"!

It is almost my story. I just bought a lightly used ‘23 RKS and put a 14” gangsterr ape myself (i sit with my hands below my elbows), Saddlemen SDC pro, ext. brakepedal, and a “AdvanBlack” clutch thing! The HD windsplitter and SE Streetcannons where still on it! I love it now!

That’s exactly the point and a big reason I own one. I don’t want to be the 50th street glide rolling up to bike night. And I don’t care for the look of either fairing style

  • @thereal-ghost

True Reality of the RKS = less room than a softail. That's all you need to know about them. They just aren't worth buying right now till HD resolves the issue by moving the seat frame position back 1-2 inches like the street glide / road glide frames. This used to be a thing 4-5 years ago, then they shortened up the frame position to change the rake and essentially killed the seating position on them since. Until then just buy a heritage softail or a fatbob and have the same experience for less $ spent. If you're 5'5 - 5'10 this won't matter since you'll not notice due to being short and it won't matter what you are on.

It’s the exact same bike as the other touring bikes, at least they were in 23. minus the fairing and electronics of course. I’ve sat on all of them, zero differences in ergonomics. Specs are all the same, down to the mm. Weight varies. I haven’t sat on a 24 RG or SG yet to compare, but side by side in pics, it still looks like the frames are unchanged. The 24 RG and SG are obviously all new this year, while the RK hasn’t changed, so it’s possible the riding positions have changed slightly just due to different seats and tank, etc.

RKS is awesome but the fact that its made in thailand is a deal breaker for me along with the m8 motors plastic intake manifold and lifter cuffs. Fakin moco cutting corners every way possible but still continues to inflate price. Fuk that. Rather buy something else
