What is the purpose of NZ is keeping T6 Texan II's as you don't own any fighters couldn't you train on more civillian style dual engine aircraft for your aircraft fleets?

I would assume the keep the Texan as it is fast and can preform more complicated aerobatic manoeuvres than most GA aircraft

Because they are a purpose built military training aircraft complete with systems directly transferable to the RNZAFs future larger aircraft e.g FMS, TCAS, TAWS, HUD. They were purchased with this in mind and as a former instructor on these I will say they are an excellent tool for training effective military pilots. Multi engine training comes after wings course graduation.
