My best friend lived in Churchill when he was around 9-10. Loved it. They keep all car doors unlocked in case the kids playing, or anyone else, was approached by a polar bear. And that was considered normal!

@Izumka ... NOooo.... I feel bad for them too! I mean, I guess there's a need to get involved to some extent, and the ppl do seem to be as gentle as possible with them at least. But ...wow... those poor bears must be TERRIFIED to be rendered completely helpless & paralyzed, while being fully conscious & aware of everything happening to them! It must be the equivalent to a human being abducted & manhandled by aliens, then being returned home...requiring therapy for the rest of their life! Awww..

I get that some people feel the bears have a right to be there but Churchill has been settled by humans since 1717. There is sooooo much landmass for all up there.

BeakerInShortShorts you're an idiot. The polar bears have been there for a million plus years. If there is no prey in that "land mass" because of over hunting and climate change, how the hell do you expect the animals to survive. Not too mention polar bears don't hunt land prey, they're ocean hunters. They use the ice to hunt. Your comment is a great display of your lack of intelligence.

Don’t like the fact of a tundra hotel exists. Shouldn’t be only scientists allowed? I don’t know. Maybe these are the same bears making their way to the cities?

Thankfully I was not here to neuter the male bears and shave bald spots on the bears so they never visit Churchill since they tell all the other bears they are not welcome. But it is so cruel so it should not be done any more than pulling out their teeth.
