RKG 3 Anti-tank Grenade

A video where I attempt to show how the variant of the grenade works. The Variants all basically work the same way, but some of the parts are more complex on the earlier models, and the newer models have better armor penetration. Lots of videos out there showing it in action. They are also being modified in the Ukraine to act as drone dropped munitions called the RKG-1600.

    Got hit by one of these in Iraq on my second tour in 09. My best fried and his driver were killed by one in Iraq in 2011. The one thrown at me didn’t have the chute. They take it off so it gets to the target faster but it’s so top heavy that it’s unstable in flight, hence why I’m alive today to tell you about it. 2 /13/09 is my second birthday, it’s the day I was given a second chance at life. I'm thinking they maybe using something completely home made because I'm seeing alot of them fail. Now is it because they are not designed to move that quickly being dropped from those heights or because they are making their own fuzes is going to have to be mentioned by the people modifying them. There are 2 main versions of them that I see and neither of them are how I would design it. Then again they also modify the tank machineguns differently than I would so maybe they know something I dont.

    I stood in the rear hatch of a Stryker. Had saw mounted and a 12 Guage specially to attempt to combat these. These babies and EFP IEDs is what I feared the most.. RPGs suck but I didn't really fear them... though they shoot shape charges, the concussion is pretty big for the charge size. Even if you didn't get hit with the jet stream it's bad

  • @Stray03

    Yeah it is the "booster" I mentioned. The lens is because it has the spacer in it to allow the main charge to be detonated in the proper orientation to make the shaped charge as efficient as possible. I did see a video where the person actually had the mock up of the thing including the initiator. Unfortunately I will have to 3d print one probably.

    How does the chute wires not grab your hand? Is there a particular way to hold them, is the release bar against your palm or your fingers?

  • @Stray03

    @Stray03

    2 жыл бұрын

    By the time the thing fully deploys it is far enough away from your hand, so I dont think there is any worry about it catching on. You are only releasing the cap on throwing and not how I did it. If you released the bar/chute and then tried to throw it the thing would explode in your hand. Although you could throw it with fingers or with palm on it the way the safety pin is in it would mean it goes against your palm. Less chance of accidentally releasing the lever that way as it won't "slip" passed your fingers if you decided to abort the throw.
