I love what Riz says about films like this being able to feel real while still having a heightened cinematic flare... I have to say, a film maker that puts a stylistic stamp on a film but still draws the audience in beyond the normal levels of detachment has achieved far more than someone filming everything at eye level with very little intrusive devices to just make their narrative feel real...

Just came back from the BFI Waterloo to watch this, all the hype, the fuss and the adulation that Mathieu Kassovitz’s film has gained over past 25 years, it’s well deserved!!!

Can’t wait to see this in 4K. Great film and impacted me in very similar ways back in the mid 90s. Still amazingly relevant today...plus ça change

Got tickets for the new restoration at the BFI this weekend. First time in cinemas since corona. Never seen the film before, and it feels way more interesting and exciting than the new movies showing elsewhere.

Oh very nice. Will watch it too as part of my Mubi Go subscription (which i recommend). Although there is also another re-release worth watching coming out Friday "Memories of Murder" also worth watching for combinig disturbing true events and social maliaise with moments of humour and chutzpah.

C’est sympa de savoir que ce film a voyagé. C’est l’époque de mon adolescence, un film majeur dans ma culture

I haven't seen it in a while but I remember the ripped from the headlines story and authentic realism that puts La Haine above so many other urban street films. Well worth checking out the re-release if you can.
