Rivian R1T vs. Jeep Gladiator Off-Road Comparison Test | Can a Rivian Outdo a Jeep on the Trails?
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
The Jeep Gladiator is well established as a capable off-road pickup truck, so we decided to use it as a benchmark for an industry newcomer: the all-electric Rivian R1T. The R1T is a beast in its own right off-road, but we were curious how it would stack up against the tried-and-true Jeep on the trails. Head to the video above to find out!

This girl was really natural. Regarding the trucks, well, Rivian îs clearly more capable. And with some taller offroad tyres is a savage climber. But Jeep îs like familly, with flows, but close to your heart. You feel more at home în îts familiar friendly engine noise. And, lets be honest, who the hell needs to brake his truck is some sharpy rocks ? Great video, I was impressed by "can you do this ?" scene. You both make a funny team.
What happened to 0:26 he clearly made it to the third step, if you’re going to lie about something so obvious, really makes me wonder if this channel actually cares about testing cars or just saying what they want to.

Would be really interesting to see how the Mojave did without the locker compared to the Rivian- with both of them using BLD / torque vectoring type stuff.
To all those NAYSAYERS of RVIIAN R1T Quad Motor, NO JEEP straight from the dealership WITHOUT souping it up can beat the RIVIAN, period. How do I know? I tested ALL JEEP top of the line trucks and SUV, and still bought the RIVIAN R1T.
The Rubicon would have been a better comparison. The R1T has an advantage over the Mojave in being able to simulate a front locker. I've had both, the Rubicon is quite a bit more capable as of today. The R1T still has some traction issues that will be resolved over time with software.

Looks like the test sites are 2 trails.. started at Gorman Hungry Valley, then moved to The fork at Rowher Flats on that steep climb.. Fun showdown, enjoyed watching both trucks 4x4. We own an R1T, it’s awesome. Not sure I could go back to a conventional truck now (used to own a mid 90’s Wrangler, 4x4 was good, but Terrible gas mileage), unless the power grid goes out, ha.
Does that jeep not have brake limited slip differential in the front?
Mind if I flex a little myself? I have actually BEEN to a real Ziggurat. The Ziggurat of Ur to be precise, near An Nasiriyah, in the beautiful country of Iraq (no, that was not sarcasm, I wish it was safe enough for us ALL to visit there one day). This was built roughly 4,000 years ago and is near where Abraham himself was born and raised. Seeing the test here just reminded me of some amazing memories I had while serving overseas. I've got a gladiator sport S with a 3.0 eco diesel. So it doesn't have the crawler mode and so forth that the Rubicon or Mojave has, but it does have 450 Lbs or torque and gets a lot better fuel economy.
@electropentatonic
Жыл бұрын
The fuel economy on small diesels is a hard sell for me. Take today's AAA national fuel averages for instance, 3.474 and 4.364 dollars per gallon for gas and diesel, respectively. At 19 combined and 24 combined, the price per mile is .183 and .182, a saving of .001cents per mile for the diesel powered Jeep. In the instance of Jeep-S, the 3.0 carries a $4,150 premium overhead. Divide the overhead by the savings per mile and you'll get your break-even time in miles, this point is 4,150,000 miles. If mpg costs are the perspective, diesel Jeeps are a significant loss for the purchaser.

I only push this because, It's my belief, that it's a marketing gimmick, exchanging one cost for another, like solar or EV's. In most cases costing the consumer more

ICE are also super fuel efficient off road because they can turn off instead of sitting there idling lol. Only turn on when you need to move. I can stay weeks off grid and carry some gas cans if needed. Any passer by can also fuel me if needed. Don’t over reach. EVs are very cool for daily driving and commuting. But don’t compare to true off roading or over landing. Going fast on dirt and dune running I guess but why not just buy a razor that you can beat on instead of $100k+ daily car lol. And most off road vehicles are about range, control, and reliability. You don’t need a ton of torque to off-road and overland.
