ELECTRIC TRUCK 30,000 POUND TOW-OFF | Rivian R1T vs. Ford F-150 Lightning | Who Can Go the Distance?
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
Where's the last place you would expect to see two brand-new, nearly $100,000 electric pickup trucks? Right here! This is Truck Mania, the biggest celebration of all things trucks on the West Coast. And it is properly mad, with donuts, burnouts, lifted suspensions and diesel burn-off everywhere. And we brought two EVs: a Rivian R1T and a Ford F-150 Lightning. We put our out-of-place trucks in the Truck Mania Tractor Pull to see which one could tow a 30,000-pound sled the farthest. Head to the video above to find out what happened!

Well THAT was interesting. What did you learn about EV trucks?
@Cyber_Homestead

Stock, from the factory - they would likely beat out any other truck at that competition before mods. Larger tires and added weight could definitely go a long way. As much as people like internal combustion engines, electric easily beats them in every way except range. We're watching a dying breed of motorsports, and that's okay because the future looks interesting.

You can only put out so much power in 30s. Assuming it's maxing power (it's obviously not due to traction and low speed) it's outputting 800hp or 600kw. To drain a 130kwh battery pack at 600kw takes 13 minutes. My guess is that it's probably only able to put 200-300 horsepower to the ground before the wheels start slipping. It could probably pull that sled for 45 minutes (but it might start overheating pretty quickly, just like a gas/diesel truck would)
Very interesting!!!

Why not? Decent alternator, pure sine power inverter. Maybe a couple auxiliary batteries so you don't have to run the truck non stop. Why did they use a solid hitch hookup for the rivian and a swivel hitch hookup for the lightning? More weight on the rear end for the rivian means more traction off the line.
