ELECTRIC TRUCK 30,000 POUND TOW-OFF | Rivian R1T vs. Ford F-150 Lightning | Who Can Go the Distance?

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Where's the last place you would expect to see two brand-new, nearly $100,000 electric pickup trucks? Right here! This is Truck Mania, the biggest celebration of all things trucks on the West Coast. And it is properly mad, with donuts, burnouts, lifted suspensions and diesel burn-off everywhere. And we brought two EVs: a Rivian R1T and a Ford F-150 Lightning. We put our out-of-place trucks in the Truck Mania Tractor Pull to see which one could tow a 30,000-pound sled the farthest. Head to the video above to find out what happened!

Stock, from the factory - they would likely beat out any other truck at that competition before mods. Larger tires and added weight could definitely go a long way. As much as people like internal combustion engines, electric easily beats them in every way except range. We're watching a dying breed of motorsports, and that's okay because the future looks interesting.

You can only put out so much power in 30s. Assuming it's maxing power (it's obviously not due to traction and low speed) it's outputting 800hp or 600kw. To drain a 130kwh battery pack at 600kw takes 13 minutes. My guess is that it's probably only able to put 200-300 horsepower to the ground before the wheels start slipping. It could probably pull that sled for 45 minutes (but it might start overheating pretty quickly, just like a gas/diesel truck would)

Why not? Decent alternator, pure sine power inverter. Maybe a couple auxiliary batteries so you don't have to run the truck non stop. No problem powering appliances during a power outage, assuming your panel is set up for a generator or something, which it would need to be in either situation. Without running extension cords to every appliance anyway.

@@caddyguy5369 I think the Ford power station that charges the BEV truck can also work in reverse to power the home with same plug? You just have to get the home power station installed and have a switch that turns off grid power when the BEV truck is supplying power to the home. No cords other than the one to the truck. If you have solar, you can power your home and truck at the same time. Then you can use/store the extra power in your truck's battery if the weather is bad or at night.

Read my original post: "Tractor pull on Sat, power home if power goes out, and take the family to church on Sunday" I don't see a lot of modified tractor pull trucks running errands around town, getting groceries, pulling a trailer for vacation, work commuting, home Depot runs, or providing whole house power in an emergency?

@@mrgold3591 You left out the part of the comment I was responding to from your quote... "Can't do that with those modified tractor pull trucks." Sure you can. Just because you don't see something doesn't mean you can't do it. You specifically said you can't do something that you can. That is what I was addressing. You picking up what I'm laying down? PS: Quotes ommiting context are very bad form. Ask the media. PPS: I don't see many / any EVs doing those things either... Doesn't mean they don't or can't. They are a poor choice for me personally though.

I am living for 2 years in the US, and today I learned that there is a unit of measurement called US TONS, whenever I hear tons here in the US I think of metric tons! 34 000 pounds didn't seem to be 17 tons to me, so I checked and it's just 15.42 Tons, but then I learned that it's 17 US Tons lol, Cmon Muricans, you could ve chosen a different name for this unit of measurement! Maybe "Boulders", "Elephants", "Cheeseburgers palette" or something creative like y'all do to avoid the metric system.

These EV trucks performed a pull using just under 1% of the battery which is roughly 1.35 kWh of energy per pull. I'd like to know how much gasoline of diesel some of those ICE vehicles use per pull. Got to believe it's at least 1/4 gallon which equates to roughly 10kWh of energy. These trucks also used stock street tires.

Weight difference of ±400 must be considered and tire difference is also a factor. Why did we not at least match the rubber ? I'm sure the Ford would have pulled a few more feet with similar tires. The Rivian is something else just the same. Very interesting video.

The lack of wheel spin at the end makes me think that the computers are pulling power from the motors in an attempt to maintain traction. But just like with gas powered traction control systems, they interfere with user input and can prevent the power train from really doing what it should.

Nice Video!!!!! But now I want to see the Tesla Cybertruck with its 1020 HP, 1200 pounds of torque, and 14,000 pounds of towing capacity, but we have to wait until the mid to end of 2023!!!!! But the video show the future of trucks, specially when these two trucks came plain from their respective companies with no modifications at all, and using unmatched tires, compared to other ICE trucks that were heavily modified either in engines, or tires, or both!!!!! But again, a very nice video!!!!!!!!
