I saw their card at the charger at mall of ga and came across your video when checking their reviews online. After seeing your video i will give them a call for my Tesla. Thanks.

Be careful charging with an extension cord. If the extension cord is not rated appropriately, it can overheat and start issues and worse case, start a fire.

Yeah, it’s not recommended to do this long term. For a few hours just to get you enough range to drive to a fast/rapid charger is about all it’s good for.

$520 is an incredible install price. I just got quoted $900 here in Denver for an install even simpler than yours. Luckily the city provided a rebate for most of the cost

Kudos to them. The installation was very reasonable. I’ve heard about electricians taking advantage of the EV owners and up-charging into the thousands.

I too am just charging off a regular household outlet and so far if I keep it plugged in daily I’ve been fine with keeping it charged to around 70%. I’m fortunate though in that I work from home and usually only drive about 5400 miles a year (my ‘05 Chevy Avalanche which I’ve owned since new only has 98k miles). I can always upgrade later to a 240v outlet later if my situation changes but for now don’t think the upgrade expense is warranted.

Nice video. I would have recommend you to go with Autel, hardwired unit. Getting very good review and APP works well. Going to order one for my Jeep GC Overland. Its insane to have it plugged it for 12-15 hours vs. in my case 2:15 for a full charge. Going to install it by myself. My 200A panel is in the same location as yours. Got it all ready to go for a 48A max on 60A breaker using #6 wires. In my State, NJ they want between 600-1200 install, labor only. NOPE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

our delivery of our R1S is probably within next 1 or 2 weeks. Already signed the docs and vehicle in transport from IL to CA. Do you know if I install 60A CB with a 14-15 wall mounted plug receptacle, the mobile charge provided by Rivian would be able to recognize and deliver the 48Amps? I understand 60A circuit will run at 48Aamp.. to account for the 25% safety factor per code. Or only wall mount (hardwire units) can take advantage of the extra capacity?

Great job! Keep pumping them out. Question… would you still get a Rivian with the price increase?

I absolutely love this vehicle and I got it at the original price. I canceled due to the price increase, but reinstated my order after RJ apologized and reduced prices. So, I don't think I would buy with the price in the 90s. I'd wait for the duel motor.

Yes, you can have the charger in the garage, but it will likely cost more. Most electrical companies charge more to run wire from the breaker box to somewhere else in the house. Shop around!

If everyone goes electric, states will have to get money to maintain roads somewhere besides fuel sales. Anybody hear anything about how EVs are going to be taxed? In my state, the taxes on fuel are 65 cents a gallon., so it will be interesting how the state will figure out how to replace it.

As an EV owner I’d support an per mile tax / usage fee for everyone across the board and eliminate the gas tax. That way, everyone pays for what they use. Am worried about the logistics of accomplishing that though as I am not comfortable with the state adding a tracker to my vehicle though.

On average Americans pay $264 in gas taxes annually. Currently many states charge EVs an extra $100-200 cost every year in place of the gas tax. It will probably be increased once EVs become very common, but right they don't want to hurt the EV growth.
