Rivers LGA Shutdown: Our Salaries are Still Paid - Agwanwor

Governor Sim Fubara had directed the heads of local government areas (HOLGAs) to ensure that monthly payment of salaries to local government workers are paid as and when due. We believe this directive will be upheld because we will not allow our members suffer unduly for a crisis they did not cause, a crisis caused by politicians

The IG should do what is right. You can't prevent workers from performing their lawful duties in pretense of securing lives and property.

It's a pity that the police is taking side in this matter, they warned the local government workers not to carry out any protest, but they allowed wike people to protest. The police have given wike and his people the guds to misbehave otherwise all this rubbish would have stopped

The Law is very clear and concise. The tenure of local government chairmen is 3 years in Rivers State and expired. There must be no vacuum. The governor has done well by putting in place transitional committee. President Tinubu should call Wike to order and allow peace to reign in Rivers State.. Wike was not the first to governed Rivers State and is not going to be the last. The bane of the problems presently is greed and selfishness.

Do you mean the caretaker committee is also established in our constitution? If the house cannot amend the LG law, I will ask who reduced it from 4 years to 3 years in the first place. Are you aware that some state's LG tenure is even 2 years? Who amended these laws? Are you aware same tenure extension was done in Akwa Ibom without any problem just because they couldn't conduct an election? And even in another Northern state. Fubara could have conducted the election and avoided all these. I think Fubara was too fast to act, with no stronghold in the party both at LG, state, and federal, house, and chairmen. Imagine the PDP coming to court to defend the purported defection of the members. Anyway, we shall see how the dice rolls.

If the police force are sincere and not partial in support of Wike why did the police allow Wikes supporters to stage another protest after the death of the policeman and two others. The police force should have stopped Wikes protesters, which led their members detonating bomb and cause injuries and possible death?
