For all of the marine salvage experts in the comments: The owner, Sherrif, and insurance company all told us the boat was a total loss and were only concerned about getting it removed regardless of any damage that might occur during the recovery process. Lift bags were not a viable or safe option with how hard the river was flowing. Those bags have an enormous amount of surface area and they rip to pieces when you tow them any faster than about 5mph and we were moving along at closer to 15-20mph by the time you factor in the speed of the river flowing plus the 5+ mph that we were moving upstream. Lift bags are NOT as easy to use as everyone thinks they are

Glass expert here. I dont have the dimensions of all that glass and gasket material. If the glass isn't readily available the price goes even higher due to all the templates that have to be made, and it having to be hand cut and wet sanded. I was sick when I saw all the glass missing! I hope Heavy D has a little more sympathy and helps him out on that. It will sure be a lot cheaper than restoring the guy asking them to restore his mustang from top to bottom front to back! I know they could, but what an ask!

That said, I am handicapped and my wife has always wanted a Mustang. i was finally able to get her one but it needs to be gone through from front to rear and top to bottom. I am unable to complete the work now, and I am in hopes that you might find a place in your guys' hearts to complete the work. After 17 yrs in the military I am ashamed to have to ask for help but with sll my issues I may not be around to many more years and I hope that after all she has done for me I can leave her with a safe car. Old worn out wear rings allow cavitation inside the pump and really hamper clean flow of water through the pump. My dad ran a jet up and down the Colorado River and he literally changed the wear ring every year. And it always made a remarkable difference in speed and low end torque. Depending on river/lake conditions, its best to measure the clearance quite often if you want peak performance.

I guess the only positive thing about the windows being blown out is that the panels all seem to be flat panels of glass so you can have them cut to shape at most any glass shop. If they were curved glass windows then you would be looking at big bucks to replace them.

I was thinking that, then saw the angle the boat was at in relation to that fast flowing river, fairly sure you would need one heck of a pump to beat that flow rate. Also didn't seem an obvious way to safely get the boat higher at the stern end.

That demonstrates the power of water. It is a lot more dense than everybody thinks it is and weighs more than everybody thinks it does. Before they got it up out of the water they were barely going upstream against the flow of the water, which he said was moving between 20 to 25 MPH, and that was enough to pop the windows out of the frames.

@@TheOriginalAndysGarage "Holy shit now its junk" The motor quit running so it would probably have needed to be taken apart and rebuilt anyway. The windows will need to be replaced. It is a boat so everything was made to get wet anyway. The hull and cab are still in good shape and no holes in the hull. Not junk, just a used boat that needs some work. A little more than expected, but not so much for someone who could afford to buy a used jet-boat in the first place.

Pretty messy recovery guys, take some extra time and do the job right. If you want to demo your boat power, drag a piece of scrap upriver.

I used a twenty four ounce coffee cup to remove water from a friend boat. Just so we could get the engine going. Once that was done. We took the plugs out and ran it' as fast as we could without dieing. But I'm still here. Seven Miles across a lake four foot whitecaps swells,.Best part of living on the edge. It's always there. Any second time comes to an end. Peace at last.
