i worked with thoroghbreds for 30 years. Watching this and the other one where she had the still born and hearing the sounds of the barn and the visuals brought back alot of grest memories and some sad ones. We had a mare who had twins and anyone who is a horse person knows that usually only one will survive. Well only one made it. I did most of my years with the mares and foals had a blast. Sadly my last injury (3 day coma) had me forced to retire. I am paying for never getting any of my injuries taken care of because i just wanted to keep working and doing what i loved to do. I see ads in the paper all the time for farms even the one i worked at and my wife just says forget it get it out of your mind. So now i sit here needing back/neck/double knee/double shoulder surgeries. I miss the job something awful it took me a good 5-6 years to come to terms that i was done doing what i loved. The pay was ok but nothing to make you rich but that never bothered me i just loved my job I have no idea how my wife could go slug it out in a factory 8 hrs a day. Hay season and foaling season were my favorite times. Hay season i put in some hours wow long long days but fun. We did have 2 friesians at the farm. We called them the beasts out back. They were just beautiful. I hated breeding season we did it live never had it shipped in on a fed-ex truck. Those were some bad days putting on the mares armor so the stallion didn't injure her. That's when a few accidents happened and they happened so quick you never had time to react in time. I always won the coin toss for who had to wash the stallions I never once had to do that no thanks. I miss the mornings when the fog was still low on the ground and we could see the wolves that lived near by standing just outside of the woods watching us. (we never had any of the 84 horses attacked) Our barns you could eat off the floors and if it was not to my bosses liking well she let us know but we got it down and all buttoned up fast so there were few times we had to take her wrath. We would make bets on the new people that started as to how long they would last (i won alot of money). Anyhoo i just miss the job i miss the smells the sights the hard work. You have some beautiful creatures there i wish you all the best and stay safe be well.

Hi SummerWolf, What a beautiful story of your life. I love reading it. You did do a lot with horses. And yes, it's hard working. But it's so great to work with the horses. But if you did have that many surgeries, maybe it's better for your body to quit... but it must have been very hard to make the decision!! Thank you for the story.

@@FriesianHorses it wasn't me who made that call. I had a intervention so to speak. my wife my inlaws my family dr. (traitor) even my boss was there. that day was the shits but it was what it was. If i had to do it all over again i would not change a single thing. Working with broken ribs a blown knee or a torn shoulder or messed up back that showed me what kind of person i was. And that was one who does not know the word quit.

She wants him and accepts him to nurse and bond with. The colt also accepts her and wants to bond with her. She wants to be a momma. He needs a momma. Her instincts do tell her that he is not her biological colt. But she wants to love him anyway. she doesn't have to accept him as his own. Just acceptance and love will keep them together. Animals have really great instincts, that we really don't understand.

Together they are absolutely breathtaking. She's a wonderful Mother.

The visual of the blue sky as you took Uniek and Rising Star out was stunning. How glorious. Beautiful animals peaceful under such heavens is so moving.

She is absolutely majestic. And I love that she looks at Rising Star with pride and adoration in her eyes. He will never be her "adoptive" son. Animals seem to accept that this is their child. And she has done that. I love their bond. It is beautiful.

She can be very proud of her loving,accepting and kind mare Queen Uniek, its a iconic name for a unforgettable horse🎉

Rising Star had such a traumatic start in life, it's nice to see him developing some confidence!

Man... that shot of them walking out of the stall together was just breathtaking. The queen is massive and the little colt walking with her... It was just beautiful.. I was watching cats and this popped up! I’m here for the story. Used to date a guy who raised race horses so I’m a little homesick from going to the farm and seeing the horses and feeding them etc... I love seeing how their relationship is like that of a securely attached baby and mother among many species, including humans. Rising star is confident enough to go a little ways to explore, but always comes back and touches base with Mom. Mom lets baby explore, but makes sure she is available and easy to find if needed. SO beautiful!

I am new as well and absolutely captivated. Was not familiar with this breed and so went searching for more information and learned that they are endangered but very highly controlled breeding is happening including in far off places like South Africa and the U.S. When in the meadow and momma turned her head looking right into the camera, I said to myself, "what a majestic horse she is!" And I fully agree that she is indeed a QUEEN!

@@virginiaviola5097 Thank you for the reply. I grew up with horses. I worked at a farm with mostly Thoroughbred's. They had race horses, gave lessons and had a smaller barn for the breeding mares and their foals.♥️ I'm now 48 with MS. You never realize how lucky you are as a child until you grow up. These videos remind me of the best experiences I had. When I'm having a bad flare up these videos are helping me to get through them. The video of Unik and her foal was on my feed and I'm so glad I came across this incredible story. Friesian horses are so beautiful and a lot more low key then spirited racehorses that where bred for and loved to run. I miss being around them.

Normally Uniek (AKA 👑 of Hunger, grass munching machine) would have been interested in the new grass. Here, she says: "This is not time for grazing, must be on high alert" She loves this foal so much. The bond 💕is deeper between them than I have seen with any of the other mothers and foals.

Iplaycloud2, Uniek is called the Queen because of her superb leadership skills. If you watch her with her herd in the pastures, she commands respect from young and old and they follow her. She solves problems, quarrels and gives discipline when it's needed. People gave Uniek her Friesian Star Mare status and love her beauty, fine intuition and skills under saddle and carriage. ( Yvonne loves her Uniek the best of all ! ) But the horses have chosen her their Queen.

@@iplayloud2 I believe she’s called “Queen” Because she’s earned the title of “Kroon Mare”, which is above Star yet not Model Mare yet. Kroon Mare (Crown Mare) is a very distinguished title awarded to Mares who meet the requirements for sport aptitude and exterior. So because she’s a “Crown” Mare, they call her “Queen”. Also a pure bred Friesian, who has gained the title of ," Crown Mare" which is very important in the Friesian Horse World... And she is just lovable to us...to the other horses, she commands respect..and is the oldest mare at Stal G...she deserves to be called The 👑 Queen! Lisa 🇦🇺🐨🌏

Rising Star is truly a 'mama's boy! ' They are a wondrous sight together! 💖🐎

I love 💕 watching these video's of Uniek and Rising Star. RS was given incredible new chance at life. So I will pray that Yvonne gets her crown like Queen Uniek and a full healing to catch up with RS. There is a purpose for Yvonne and Rising Star, I am sure of it. Keep going ladies, this is rough on you as her friends as well, go find comfort in the Queen 👑.

Rising Star is filling out more and well nourished, Uniek is also starting to look better, her belly is going down little by little, they were a perfect match for each other.

Uniek is a very good mother ❤!! Her colt Rising Star was bony when they first met. He began to nurse and now he is so healthy!! It's clear that these 2 are bonded 😊.

We all like to remind ourselves of this miracle story. Risey is like a planet that revolves around the sun Uniek.

There is genuine connection between them, and both are excited to be with each other. What a joy to witness such a wonderful sentiment, that no human language can explain. 🙏

I watch these vids of Uniek and Rising Star over and over from the first to current ones because watching her adopt him, how adorable he is, how beautiful she is and how wonderful they are together in this idyllic place…makes me so happy!

Somebody said Rising Star and Star exchanged mums one is in heaven with the other mummy, they share more bonds than we know. Love is energy, who can say there are not heaven should watch this! It gives hope. I wish every baby could be happy like Rising Star

Also, when the vet said her baby is no longer alive and now a star and then you named this baby Rising Star, well…I cried then and cry now writing about it! So incredibly beautiful beyond words! 💫

So true. In the '60s I had to hand feed my filly because I didn't have a foster mom for her. It was fun having her suck the milk substitute paste off of my fingers but she imprinted on me and became a very jealous horse. When she was three I was able to turn her loose on a big range for a couple of months and she was weaned from me. No more attacking anyone who dared take my attention. Having Uniek as a foster mom is so much better for Rising Star. I love seeing the light back in Uniek's eyes, too. It was gone before RS showed up.

This might be the 15th time I've watched these early videos of Uniek and Rising Star's first days together. What always moves me is how all the other horses in the stable, (Uniek's friends) all start to neigh and congratulate her on her new baby....Risey. Wow. I love watching Uniek and Risey together :)

This is as good as it gets for horses kept by humans. Kind, educated people to take care of them, a safe and bright stable with huge stalls, and glorious pasture to graze, run and play in.

It is so sweet to see these two in the meadow. How great nature is to see that some orphan foals have a great start in life with a new Mom there takes on the responsibility to feed and protect them. Your doing an excellent job Uniek.

I love watching all of those beautiful horses, but Uniek and her little chestnut baby are so special.

What a good boy, staying close to mama ❤️ When Yvonne took his halter off, it was as if he'd remembered at that moment she's the nice lady and nothing to worry about 🤗 Beautiful day with clear blue skies! Little Red Rising Star practicing his future dressage movements he’s so happy his coat is glistening copper in the sun and Uniek his beautiful mem is looking as magnificent as ever with her dappled coat.🔥🌟She’s an incredible mother with a heart as big as Friesland’s beautiful sky just like Yvonne they say animals are just like their humans and I think it’s very true in this case. Uniek has been doing a great job as Rising Star's momma!! It looks like she has been nursing him so well. His little ribs aren't so noticeable now. You did such a wonderful thing to give her a baby to love & save Rising Star's life!! You are wonderful people. Thank you for what you have done & for sharing your horses with the world this way. I know it's a lot of extra work for you to make/post these videos (especially when you have your own little ones) but it is sincerely appreciated. Love & prayers from Canada.
