Getting mixed take always like that, to me mean it will be a ok game. But if it’s your preferred type of game you will like it more. I will pick it up, but not having high expectations esp as so many other really good games I am still playing from the last few months will have it sit on my BL for a while.

That's how I'm looking at it. An open world Way of the Samurai with way more weapons and no 10 day time limit.

I appreciate you more detailed look into the skills trees, combat depth,..etc, because I have been hearing mixed things regarding the depth of the combat systems. Some say its even simpler then the Wo Long (which it liked), and some (like you) make it seem like typical TN fashion where depending on where the amount of depth the player gets is dependent on the players build/focus for their character. Would you say combat/character build depth is simpler then Wo Long, similar to Wo Long or is it more in-between Nioh 2 and Wo Long?

You know why That's idiotic? Whoever said that played the game 3-4 hours. its a 40-60 hour game. Literally 3 percent lmaoo That opinion is discredited completely as they shouldve said "I'm only few hrs in we'll see about builds ect". Even nioh 1 you had nothing much in same time. You unlocked it much later in the game. Wolong didnt have skill trees btw another great point. Only with magic stuff.Ronin has trees lol

the fact that it has a character creation AND free roam is what sells it for me that's a rare combination outside of mmo games which is why I'm torn between it and dragon dogma 2

Even a pc dogma player went to play the dd2 demo & He said " seems slower then i remember " He didnt realize it was cuz of the 30 till i brought it up lol. Then he said he played granblue fantasy relink on ps4, said it was horrible and compared it to that. S2024 game slower then a 12 yr old game. YIKES!

I still don't know what to get. I preordered this, cancelled. Preordered DD2 after playing with the character creator, now I'm tempted to go back lol. I only have time for 1 game before shadow of the erdtree!

6:05 that was such a Ninja Gaiden, Makes me wanna just play Ninja Gaiden Collection again. Its most fasting pace of action ever.

Is the story and mission structure like wo long fallen dynasty? Where u go thru a area to find the final boss and defeat it to watch a cut scene. And then move on next area and repeat and watch a cut scene after the boss defeated ?

Will it be in missions where we play coop or can we do coop during free roaming ?

I will wait for reviews and see if the game picks up after early hours:).

I loved finding the foxes in Ghost of Tsushima so i know im gonna love finding the cats. Yay!

@@dannypistilli4864 No it did not. The only online element to DD2 is you van use other players pawns. Their pawns will give you tips and location details if they had already been in that area with their original player.

I feel like RotR & Wo Long are a testing ground for new ideas TN might add to a Nioh 3. Little over a week to go. I’m stoked.

So far I really like the setting and tone. I’m optimistic despite some lukewarm early impressions.

The problem with the horse animation is that the devs have probably never seen a real horse.

It is a copy paste model from older Koei Tecmo (the publisher that owns Team Ninja) games like Dynasty Warriors. For example Dynasty Warriors 9 has the exact same horse. They used the same horse model for Nioh 2 cutscenes. And now its in Rise of the Ronin. So its looks bad because it literally was created for way older games. Its basically like Rockstar Games putting a GTA 3 car model with its original graphics / quality into GTA 6. Thats not a good idea

As if it was easy to animated anything. The game clearly had limited budget and time constraint. It's kind obvious the focus is on combat mechanics than in some animations or enviroment textures

At times I thought maybe they wont switch to better engines because of cost, downtime for developers to adapt, general production models etc.. but in this day in age with something like Unreal 5. I dont get it.. why use models and animations that are over 10 years old? I dont understand.. its gotta be "comfortability".... imagine if this was done in Unreal Engine 5 or the RE Capcom Engine? Or even the engine that runs Horizon Forbidden West and Death Stranding. The gameplay, effects, vibe, and overall feel would be much more appealing to play and engage within. really dont get why they keep shooting themselves in the foot wasting time loll

Super excited for this, I’ve seen a lot of hate around it already but that seems to be from people that either have never played a team ninja game or are major ghost of Tsushima fans and constantly compare this to that even though team ninjas combat is wayyy different from ghost. But most of the reviews I’ve seen from people that are actually fans of past team ninja games seem to like it, to me it looks like open world nioh without the demons, that’s an automatic buy for me. We weren't able to test it for the preview. But I believe you'll be able to Co-Op in those missions I mentioned that you have to manually start as you can add allies there. I'll definitely test it for my final review :)

I dunno.. the moment you mentioned a really great character creator in which you customize TWO players... that alone peaked my interest loll Though, setting wise. I would have preferred a Yokai infested open world.. I think they have extremely creative Yokai designs from Nioh that (I dont care lol) would have loved copied and pasted here, but just reinvented for open world setting.. Human enemies are fun. Yokai enemies are interesting to me...

Yes there’s armours with different stats. You can also use the looks of one armour while keeping the better stats of another armour (I forgot the term for that mechanic)

Yes, you can get different outfits and armours. You can also use the looks of one outfit while keeping the better stats of another outfit (forgot the term for that mechanic)

I have a question. Since this game has character creation, does it mean that your characters are mute? Please LMK cause I'm tired of that in games. It's starting to break immersion for me.

I'd play RPGs before, and I've enjoyed them. The reason why I asked was because it is a story driven game, and in my opinion, the main character should elaborate more to aid the story, as opposed to darksouls,Bloodborne,Elden Ring,I'm looking for more games like sakiro shadow die twice and the witcher.

Looks like both twins have dialogue in a couple clips from that boat scene, thankfully. I'm of the same mind as you, I much prefer voiced protagonists. I can manage with silent ones, but they always feel a bit less like actual characters to me.

I want to like this game, but since we can't see any actual real gameplay footage from those who got early access, and the fact there might be some fear of giving a scathing review for fear they may not be given early access in the future as punishment. I'm waiting to hear what it's like after all restrictions are lifted.

Cowboy was pretty honest about his disappointment

One thing that keeps jumping out at me in the gameplay every time I see it is how unrealistic striking a downed enemy looks. It’s like if you stab a downed enemy and the damage from said stab isn’t enough to be lethal they are automatically thrown up on their feet as your weapon connects. It’s bothering tf out of me

I've seen so many people compare this game to other samurai games but can I blow your mind for a sec....what about batman

If it wasn’t for DD2 I would really be hyped for this game. I a major fan of games like this in that samurai era of Japan. But unfortunately, I think the main downfall of Rise of the Ronin is Dragons Dogma 2. I’m so ready, been ready for this sequel for over a decade. LESSGOOO

Looks like it has the nioh loot and inventory management. That’s a bit of a bummer in my opinion.

No thing new , Team ninja games not for everyone, Nioh is a great example. The difference now is somehow rise of the ronin got some hype and coverage in gaming community, but i have no doubt many won’t be able to continue the game after the release. Unless TN decided to put some difficulty cheesy to sold as much as possible .

I don't think it's a Soulslike at all. Unless everything with third person combat is a Soulslike. This plays much closer to Ghost of Tsushima, Assassin's Creed, or Sekiro. It's nothing like a Soulslike.

Team Ninja has been disappointing me by trying to appeal to a larger audience by dumbing down their complex Nioh formula. First Wo Long (which wasn't a bad game) and now this... Hopefully this one proves what I've seen so far wrong. But I can't give them my preorder, as much as I'd like to.

Why is repetitive in the video game bad? Isn't your life repetitive as well? LOL! Dude, remember that we only have 2 arms and 2 feet. Do you poop in different ways or something cause it's becoming repetitive? LOL! This is my pet peeve on game impressions is when they say the game is repetitive! LOL! If the main character is human or not then expect repetitions unless you have 1000 buttons on your controller! Its not rocket science! LOL!

Team Ninja can do fun gameplay and combat but EVERYTHING ELSE is mediocre in their games.. story, art direction, animation, graphics, characters...

It looks like the same old same old…the graphics look last gen…I’m gonna put my money on Dragons Dogma 2

Sony being arrogant thinking that they can go up against a known IP in dragon dogma II on the same day shouldn’t surprise the pony’s at all. Hope this game does well but it’s definitely gonna have to wait till after DD2.

You are comparing one of the biggest game developer studios on this planet, Rockstar Games, with a AA niche studio owned by a AA publisher. Rockstar Games has more money for marketing than most studios have for developing a game. Rise of the Ronin is not a Sony first party AAA game. Its a Koei Tecmo game. Sony only has the publishing rights and they paid for localization and dub languages. This game is not a Sony project. Under its hood, its still a Nioh / Wo Long AA budget game, funded by Koei Tecmo. And Koei Tecmo is not a AAA publisher. Just take a look at their games. So basically Rise of the Ronin is how FF7 Rebirth would look like with half of its budget.

It's average at best. I know this might trigger some people but it's not so great. Graphics,combat style,story it's just meh. Nothing special at all. Not worth 80 euro.
