This movie solidified Andy Serkis' place as king of motion capture and digital acting. He founded his own motion capture company, The Imaginarium, and is training actors to effectively use this new medium of acting.
@TheClassicWorld

He did that back on Rings. I would say, more so by Kong. Having said that, he was perfect on The Hobbit. This film had little to do with it. Watch King Kong, The Lord of the Rings, and The Hobbit. It's insane what he did on those films -- and to his body -- in creating those characters. He was doing it pretty much before anybody else ever did, and nobody else understood it really, other than Peter Jackson, of course. Ben does a great job of it with Smaug, though.

I'm so glad your watching these film they are very underrated I think you'll love all three a really great performance from Andy Serkis as Cesar in all three films, also there's lots of nods and easter eggs to the oringal films.
I don't know if anyone has mentioned it but in the original Planet of the Apes films from the 70's the ape's deity is an ape named Caeser and he is told in stories as the first ape to say no. Now they did do a version of Caeser's back story in the third and forth film in the 70's but this is so much better.
Caesar is a great character is the whole trilogy is awesome. Andy Serkis deserves all the awards for his work as a performance-capture actor.
King Kong (2005) and Caesar, both performed by Andi Serkis, who played Gollum. Have you seen the original Planet of The Apes movie (1969) with Charlton Heston and Roddy McDowell? there was a series of movies of them, and a TV series. there were action playsets of the characters from the TV series. me and my friends had them all!
For this movie trio, I think it takes place in a universe where the apes never had people like jane goodall advocating their protections, so the events went forward as seen in the films.
"Caesar is home." That line always gives me a little chill up my spine. I love this trilogy and I always loved the original Planet of the Apes movies. If you've never seen the original you really should. This trilogy is a prequel to that series.
I just binge watched these movies yesterday and I'm so glad that I did. These are exeptionally good movies
That was one of the best reactions I have ever watched! Man, the next two…👍🏾
The first Planet of the Apes movie was in 1968 and it was set in the distant future. In the distant future, a few things were apparent - apes were intelligent, humans didn't speak, Cesar was spoken of as one of the ancestors and the first ape to speak. His first word was "no." So today's trilogy is a prequel to the 1968 trilogy and they are related. You should also see the 1968 movie Planet of the Apes. Many references to that movie were made in this current movie.
Mary:" He's so cute!" Me: Wait until he grows up😂
I liked seeing your distress at the scene where Ceasar is first imprisoned and the mad house is all cackling. I also cried then. It was true horror.
I love your reactions !!
The best of an underrated trilogy. Seréis was amazing as Cesar, and the animator did an incredible job giving digital make up to his performance.
You're gonna LOVE the next two.
YESSSSS I only just found out about this trilogy this year and I love all 3 movies super underrated
12:48 That man’s lucky that Cesar showed mercy
In case someone hasn't told you, this is a prequel/reboot of the classic Planet of the Apes series starring Charleston Heston. The original series take place many centuries later where Caesar is a legend told by the ape civilization that has taken over completely. The original series did do a prequel via time travel that contradicts this one completely, but this trilogy's origin is way better than that one. There was also another reboot a like a couple of decades ago, but that one has been mostly forgotten.
I remember the promotion for this trilogy was amazing! for Dawn during Comicon (2013), people in surgical masks and gowns were on the streets outside the convention center warning about the symptoms of Simian Flu and handing out hand sanitizer (sounds familiar?)
Such a great start to an awesum trilogy. And you really can see how much the virtual motion capture technology increases film by film.
