I also think England won't win against France, but if you're saying Senegal would've scored because of what mistakes England made. Then same could be said about Poland had so many chances against France, England are the highest scoring team in wc with 7 different goal scorers and Kane has only scored 1 goal. England will score with those chances.

I am writing it here, everyone is underestimating the Dembele vs Shaw battle and that could be the game changer.

I think dembele, griezman and mbappe are going to torture McGuire on purpose. All have pace and going to use it to pull Harry every Which way and exploit the weakest link which is that he has no pace and sketches when players close him down when he's receiving the ball from Shaw. 1st goal I'm calling it.

To believe that France can only be summed up with individualities and to Mbappé is to misunderstand the French team.

How can anyone seriously think England have had a decent test yet and be completely filled with confidence going into the France game. The world Cup starts for us on Saturday and the way maguire played against Senegal I think Mbappe/Dembele are going to have a field day.

Walker's strength is his speed, but it is questionable whether that is enough since Mbappe is even faster. There is a difference between great speed and explosive turns. Mbappé can be gone before you have realized what happened and then it doesn't help how fast you are over ten or 20 metres. A good collective England can beat France. Brazil, however, that's a different pill to swallow.

they was initialy exposed because senegal high pressed and tightened up the midfield, made it very hard to get started, but they changed it by just booting it up midfield instead of playing from the back, and it worked.

Greetings, Vibe with five! Lots of love from Bulgaria! Absolutely loving the content, on notification from the start of the WC! Few thoughts on this episode...Number one this is the first time I feel something in Rio's words is a bit off. I get the excitement and normally he is highly opinionated but with good fundamentals to back it up. But now I have a sense of a bit of complacency. Could be terribly wrong cause after all he was a professional on the pitch and surely sees things us normies don't. Whoever wins from this match wins the tournament for me. Have to say though, this is Southgates watershed moment. First opportunity to beat a team when it's a 50/50. I'm stoked on what we've done the last few tournaments but nobody can argue we've had some pretty favourable draws.

Croatia and Italy were Southgate's first proper tests, and he failed both times. He was like a deer in headlights, completely frozen and unable to adapt to the tempo of the game. I expect the exact same thing to happen against France.

Overlooking the likes of Dembele, Griezmann and Rabiot (even Giroud to a lesser extent) is gonna bite England in the a$$. If you concentrate on nullifying Mbappe and no one else, those guys will have a field day. Even with a back 5, France have the quality to easily bypass a tightly squeezed defence. My guess is if Sterling's back, they go 5-3-2 Tripps comes in at RWB, Foden and Saka are dropped for Sterling who plays off Kane. Because I know Gareth's gonna be petrified of being overrun in midfield. One thing I do agree with though, is that if England miraculously get the W, I'd have 0 fear of anyone else. Not saying they'd beat any of the others, just that they shouldnt be afraid.

Completely agree. I've watched every France game this WC barring the Tunisia match and Dembele has been a *constant* threat especially in the first half where he has more energy. He is genuinely two-footed so can cut in or go down the by-line, and so he can bang in a lot of crosses for Giroud to finish off. Having to worry about both him and Mbappe and Griezmann is a real concern for England. Tomori should have been picked for this WC as he has got the pace for a CB.

England has done what we expect from them, but still... like Howson said yesterday, they haven't faced any really tough opponents yet. Iran, USA, Wales and Senegal is not teams that should upset a strong England squad. Let's see what happens against France, that's gonna be real a challenge, France have been really good eventhough they miss some players and Mbappe is the star of this WC so far imo. Bellingham has done well too, but for me MBappe is the star so far

England beat a half-decent Senegal team, They are yet to play against a solid team yet. The real test is against France. The Midfield battle between Tchouaméni/Rabiot vs Hendo/Bellingham will define the game. Mbappe is playing like he wants to define the tournament like Ronaldo in 2002, and Maradona in 1986. Exciting match.

This is the first time in this whole show, that i have seen Rio Ferdinand being very biased and emotional, which is understandable. But he seemed very agitated and stuff.. which might have deluded or influenced his judgment skills. Which is also fine, cause Rio is always just pure neutral and genuine top analysis. This is a bit over the top, but understandable.

Alright there are a few people in here who have stated opinions to the contrary, I haven't spoken about the coaches in my initial statement. But do any of you believe if he'd stayed at Birmingham he would be a starter for England, wanted by almost all the top clubs in Europe and widely touted as one of the best midfielders in the world right now at just 19? I'd hazard a guess and say no. At worst he would've still been at Birmingham or at best he would be playing for a low end Premier league team if he's lucky. Going to Dortmund was probably the best decision in his career so far. He plays in the top tier of German football and in the CL regularly so he plays at a higher caliber level than he would've had he stayed at Birmingham. It's because of this that his game has come on leaps and bounds. Same can be said of Sancho, Jamal Musiala who plays for Munich and is now a starter for Germany rather than us etc they didn't stick around too long in the English system they got out of the system and went elsewhere then mysteriously flourish.
