Maybe the song sounds familiar because Ringo sang it at "The Concert for George" in 2002. It was a star-studded concert in memory of George. It's on DVD. Ringo introduced the song "Photograph" by saying it has a different meaning since George died.

I love it, probably my favourite Ringo song. George wrote it and gave it to him. Please review the version from “The Concert for George” (a tribute concert for George Harrison a year after his death). You can see the emotion in Ringo.

Cilla Black was a sixties singer who was the coat hanger at the Cavern Club until The Beatles had her up singing. She became a huge star until her death in her 70s. Surprise, surprise. She had a lorra lorra hits.😅

"Photograph" is a song by English rock musician Ringo Starr that was released as the lead single from his 1973 album Ringo. Starr co-wrote it with George Harrison, his former bandmate from the Beatles. Although they collaborated on other songs, it is the only one officially credited to the pair. A signature tune for Starr as a solo artist, "Photograph" was an international hit, topping singles charts in the United States, Canada and Australia, and receiving gold disc certification for US sales of 1 million. Music critics have similarly received the song favourably; Stephen Thomas Erlewine of AllMusic considers it to be "among the very best post-Beatles songs by any of the Fab Four".[1] The lyrics are a reflection on lost love, whereby a photograph is the only reminder of the protagonists' shared past. Starr and Harrison began writing the song in the South of France in 1971, during a period when Starr was focused on developing his acting career. They first recorded "Photograph" late the following year, along with the single's B-side, "Down and Out", during the sessions for Harrison's Living in the Material World album. The officially released version was recorded in Los Angeles with producer Richard Perry. It incorporates aspects of Phil Spector's Wall of Sound through the presence of multiple drums and acoustic guitars, as well as an orchestra and a choir. Aside from Starr and Harrison, the musicians on the recording include Nicky Hopkins, Bobby Keys, Jim Keltner, and Spector's musical arranger, Jack Nitzsche. Starr made a promotional film for the single, shot at his and wife Maureen Starkey's home, Tittenhurst Park. "Photograph" has appeared on Starr's compilation albums Blast from Your Past and Photograph: The Very Best of Ringo Starr, and live versions have featured on releases recorded with his All-Starr Band and with the Roundheads. In November 2002, a year after Harrison's death, Starr stated “the meaning has changed now of course” before performing "Photograph" at the Concert for George - a performance that was an emotional highpoint of the event. Engelbert Humperdinck, Camper Van Beethoven, Cilla Black and Adam Sandler are among the artists who have covered the song.

In Autumn 1973, there was a popular film out in the UK called 'That'll be the Day' starring David Essex and ringo, and more. It was based on an aspiring musician in the 1950s. The film coincided with Ringo's release of his album, and that helped its progress in the British charts. I remember because I was a 14 year old pop fan at the time.

In my opinion, Ringo was so underrated as a singer. That said, it's easy to be overshadowed by the rest of The Beatles. His solo work over the years has been great. For Cilla Black, you might like, Alfie.

To many people this is Ringo’s best album, so early in his solo career…..every other member of the Beatles played on this album and either wrote or co-wrote songs…. This with George…. I’m the Greatest ( John)…. Six o’ clock ( Paul)….Cilla Black was a friend of the Beatles in the early days and had a wonderful career….. Paul even wrote a song for her …..Love of the Loved…Other Cilla songs are Your my World, Anyone who had a heart, Alfie, Step inside Love ( another Lennon/McCartney tune….

I WISH you had reacted to the VIDEO for it which makes it even more poignant as it shows photographs of George Ringo with George. This was put together after George passed away in 2001. kzread.info/dash/bejne/e5x4raqoYtrHoLA.html You also see Ringo performing it at the "CONCERT FOR GEORGE" on Nov. 29, 2002 which was the first anniversary of George's death. The young man you see playing acoustic guitar and wearing a light colored shirt, standing to the right of Ringo, is George's son DHANI. Dhani is a dead ringer for his Dad. This concert was held in the Royal Albert Hall in London. All the musicians are former band mates (Ringo, and Paul McCartney) and other musicians he played with over the years in his solo career and who were also friends of Georges. It's a FANTASTIC concert, playing the songs that George wrote. Besides Ringo, Paul and Dhani, you will see ERIC CLAPTON, JEFF LYNNE, GARY BROOKER (from Procal Harum) ALBERT LEE, CARL PERKINS, and so many others. It was quite a band and am emotional evening.
