Prior to their breakup the group's hair had reached shoulder length. The USA, as well as the rest of the world, had come along way since '64 with The Beatles leading society culturally. Not one joke about "hair" as opposed to the thinly veiled hostile presser held after the lads had de-planed at JFK just a bit more than six years earlier.

I am of the age where I grew up listening to the Beatles when they were recording and performing together some sixty years ago. It used to be (and still is to an extent) it was often said it so sad that two of the members died prematurely. These days, in 2024, the question is not that how is it two of them have died relatively young but instead how is it two of them are now in their eighties? Believe me, it is scary as anything. Ringo will be 84 this year, while Paul will be 82. Unbelievable. As an aside, I saw Ringo perform back in 2003 when he performed with his All-Star Band at the Britt Festival in Jacksonville, Oregon. He especially loved George, who had died not long before this particular performance, like a brother. The man is a treasure.

I still can remember the very first time heard The Beatles in the radio (I was a Junior in HS - 1963) - the next day I talked about this great band and no one had heard them yet!!! Didn’t take very long before everyone knew who they were! We just started passing our albums along to our son and DIL - they were both very excited!!!

"The Magic Christian" had been released two weeks earlier than this TV appearance in the U.S. (on 2/23/70). The Beatles (without John Lennon) had done their last sessions together about six weeks earlier, so even though it wasn't official yet, the Beatles were essentially done by the time of this airing.

Ironically, The Beatles weren’t feeling peaceful and loving amongst themselves. What is sad is that as this episode was airing, they were breaking up. John had privately departed the band months earlier and not long after this was aired, Paul would publicly announce his split with the other three.

Sure, that's true for Don Rickles and Eddie Murphy, but there were countless hilarious comedians back then that didn't "offend" people. I really think there's a big bad shift in societies' psyche that is the culprit. @@rubenoteiza9261
