I meant no oil or lube on the physical rod, the bearings it’s an absolute must. You don’t want oil between the mating surfaces of the cap, that can deflect your torquing values for the rod bolts. Same applies to the main bearings.
Do you gap the oil scraper ring?

No, those already have enough gap and not enough mass to grow considerably. They are also exposed to significantly less heat than the uppers.
Dont u have to gap both upper rings?

Those NPR ring packs suck. The oil tension ring isn’t enough. It’s less than oem. Total seal sells better oil control ring tension rings for our applications. JS. After years of R and D on 2JZ platform.

@@Pete_Tech_ they are custom, from total seal, not really a link. If you buy diamond pistons off the shelf for instance, you will get NPR rings. They offer total seal AP steel top, Napier second, and higher tension oil expander from total seal thru diamond. Standard tension total seal is 10 lb, high tension is 13 lb, NPR I think the engineer told me were like 6 lbs…. It’s great for NA application but boost and thicker weight oils you’ll want a better ring pack. The expander oil ring thru heat cycles looses tension over time. To counter that you can nitride them like top fuel but that’s going a little more crazy. Total seal sells a lot better ring pack for us. Most off the shelf comes with NPR. Just a better ring pack overall, and an oil tension ring that will survive a lot better. You will definitely want a to size piston ring compressor, as the rings are harder to install from the increased tension.
