RIN: The Last Child is an action-adventure platformer metroidvania game inspired by the mythical story of Cronos and his conflict with his children!

The tale of RIN: The Last Child transpires in a world that’s on the verge of extinction due to its mishandling by five godly children that were once entrusted with its protection and growth by their divine father and creator of the realm. You play as the titular RIN, the last child of this god, who is sent on a mission to defeat and consume her mad siblings in a final effort to save the land from obliteration, a quest that will force her to face hard truths about her family but also the events that preceded this impending catastrophe, as well as the reasons the world was led to this precipice of destruction in the first place. With the fate of all creation resting in her hands, RIN will have to make hard choices that will determine if everything will end, or if there may still be some hope left for this doomed place.

I really disliked the map as well, instantly turned me off

Bought it on release, it's sitting in my backlog. I did see the devs have so far been VERY active with patches so i'm hopeful that by the time i get around to playing it, it will be in a better spot. I'm still a huge fan of the art style and i like to experiment with different spells so in that sense i think the game will entertain me sufficiently. That's the thing with waiting for a while, you play games when they get better most of the time. I don't care to be around at release, i can wait :)

I always appreciate your reviews, great work 👍. Have you replayed Rin after the patches? I really, really like the look of it but the map issues put me off. It is hard to find recent and or updated reviews.

Thank you for the kind words! Unfortunately I haven't gone back to it. Based on what I've seen, the latest update did try and make the map a bit more bearable, but I don't think that some of the main problems, like large chunks of the map being revealed without actually having been explored, have been addressed (I'm basing this information on their latest Steam patch notes from the 2nd of February).

Ah, pity. As soon as I saw the artstyle and the little insight to the biomes at the beginning of the video, my first thought was that it looks beautiful and diverse. I'm hoping the devs will keep updating the game and it will live up to it's potential because I like what I've seen from it so far and I'd love to play it.

Oh, it's coming at some point! I'll definitely be reviewing it sometime in the near future! Also Aeterna Noctis, which has been recommended to me a lot!
Haven't played it yet, its low on my wishlist.

It'll probably be much better after a few patches, so it doesn't hurt to play it later rather than now.
To be honest, I couldn’t get past the first room. Checked so many pet peeves for me
