Charlene A. Hood sometimes people don’t understand certain terminology as it’s not in their vocabulary... Yasin’s question was quite clear and if your goal is for everyone to stand together then you’ve got to be open minded to explain a couple things here and there and try not to be defensive/annoyed if someone is reaching out for information, because by you questioning someone’s curiosity it comes across that way even though that might not be your intention.

I have had NonBlack acquaintances and friends since childhood. (The two are very different for me.) NonWhite/NonBlack friends were the better of the friends than White friends. To be honest this group is where I find my best NonCaribbean (when they were not Caribbean) friends. As far as Whites go ... Some of the friendships had depth and mutual respect and love. Others literally started to sound like the Klan and I avoided them. This started in JHS. What I have noticed is that my Ashkenzi Jewish friends were the only White-identified friends that didnt contain racists. Yuck. The other White friends varied. (The White Caribbeans I encountered are genuine. They differed from any other group of Whites I met and only NonCaribbean White Latinos were anywhere near half as genuine. NEVER do they ever made me or any other NonWhite Caribbean feel lower or inferior or try that racism mess. They know we are lile family.) --- B.

Shall I go all the way back to the genesis of western civilisation in ancient Greek and Roman culture, with people like Socrates, Homer, Caesar or the building of the Parthenon or Colosseum. Or perhaps you would rather I move slightly forwards in history to the renaissance where one comes across the works of Michelangelo and Shakespeare. No, maybe that is still too far for you. Let’s move forward to the enlightenment and the great scientific and industrial revolutions of the western heartland in Europe. Here we can see the creation of the modern world with the invention of the steam engine, moral evolution in the works of Dickens and Balzac, not to mention the political development of universal democracy and the rule of law. But we need not travel into the near past, we need only look to the modern age. In this age, western civilisation has created nuclear energy, the computer, jet engines and space travel. This is what western civilisation is; it is the light of humanity, it is the engine of modernity and progress. But yes, I guess African Americans did give us jazz and Kanye west, but its not quite the same, is it….

I’m sooo proud and happy, as her fan, to see her growth for the past years. From that party pop star she used to be on the early stage of her career to a bolder, wiser woman that she is today. You can tell that she learned from her past mistakes and chose to grow and continue to excell on her craft. From being a pop star, it’s so fulfilling to see her a philanthropist and an ICON of our generation. One thing that didn’t change from her is her DEDICATION to strive even more. We’ll always love you Rihanna. As a fan, I can truly understand if you won’t release an album anytime soon. Just continue doing your priorities and be the best version of yourself always. Mahal kita!

She clearly states this is not a solo project, we ALL must make an effort or no progress will be made to better this planet we call home. EVERY effort, regardless of size, deserves to be celebrated. Glad you took the time to contribute to this dialogue. Be blessed!
