    this planer is awesome! Thanks for the demonstration. One quick question: my planer (R4331) is off by about 0.010" the left is cutting deeper than the right; its not parallel any more Do you know of how to adjust this?

    @Fred Astaire Hey Fred, thanks for stopping by. You are very welcome my friend, I’m glad someone appreciates this video!! 😂 You have a very good question…not one that I could have possibly ever expected to be asked because of me posting this video, but I do think I have a solution for you. I Google searched “Rigid R4331 planer blades not parallel” and found a Rigid forum post that seemed to be extremely helpful. I’ll be more than happy to share it with you. Please contact me on Instagram C_Love1984 and I’ll beam it right over. Thanks for your question…you’ve made me smarter now too! Have a great day Fred, I’ll talk to you again soon.

    @john kauffman Hey John, it’s a very rewarding hobby and/or career if that’s what you make of it. In my personal opinion, it’s much better as a hobby or something you do on the side as *NOT* your main source of income. I get a whole lot more return on many facets keeping it this way. I hope you are safe and have a wonderfully fun and fulfilling journey my brother. Talk to you again soon.

    I bought one about 15 months ago. It started pulling the boards through very jerky. I found the steel block that the outfeed roller was mounted in was badly worn. Been waiting for 2 months for replacement bearing blocks. Hope they will come by the end of the month. Keep these blocks Lubricated!

I haven't had any problems with my feed that I am aware of, but will make sure to pay attention to this now. This isn't something I've seen commented on previously on this channel so this is valuable information for me. I hope this video was useful for you in some kind of way...I'm still doing this 100% by myself so I'm doing the best I can. I can't thank you enough for your support. Bless you my brother 🙏

    @@CurtisMadeIt I make a lot of things from hardwood flooring that I pick up at sales. It does a great job but I've gone through 3 sets of blades on it. I think the prefinished boards are hard on the blades. That may have contributed to the bearing block wearing so much too. It had worn so much that the shaft had started rubbing the gear case!

    @Steve Ayers Wow, impressive! Yours definitely gets a whole lot more use than mine does. Mine is mostly exotic hardwoods from around the world that I’ve scored from marketplace and estate sales…some cedar too. I should probably sharpen my blades and properly maintain my unit pretty soon…make sure it keeps running smoothly for the long run. Be careful Steve, stay blessed 🙏

    How does yours stay so still? Mine literally moves all over the place and causes the crank to move too so I somehow have to keep the crank still and machine still while pushing the wood through

  • @CurtisMadeIt

    @CurtisMadeIt

    5 ай бұрын

    @zyoh4311 Hey Zyoh, sorry to hear about the troubles with your planer. Try putting a towel under the planer when it is on a flat surface and that should help a whole lot with the vibration and tendency of the machine to walk. You might also try clamping it down to the table some kind of way, but you are gonna need 4 clamps for sure. The crank should stay locked in place with the crank lock. I adjust depth and lock this in place every single pass…I would not recommend leaving it unlocked while planing. I hope this helps. Reach me on Instagram curtis_made_it any time. I appreciate you supporting this channel 🤝

    @Mike Davis Hey Mike, sorry to hear about your misfortune. This seems to happen if you aren't extremely careful all the time. I have had some chip out on some figured pieces that I ran through there that I probably (knew I) shouldn't have. I think for me, this has been a great planer though. I've had it for quite a while now and, admittedly, need to sharpen the blades, but overall, I don't think I can complain about it too much. This is a good machine for the semi-serious/hobbyist woodworker. My long time woodworking friend has the 735 and I will admit, that is also a very nice machine. I hope you are careful while you are working in the shop. I appreciate your time and support my friend.

    @Ryan Anthony Hey Ryan, good morning. I appreciate you stopping by and taking the time to leave your comment here. I apologize for the delay in my reply…I’ve been very busy recently and I needed time to craft an appropriate response for you. I’ll start off by saying that I took the time to rewatch my own video and you are absolutely wrong my friend. Anyone who knows nothing about this machine or is in the market to get one stands to gain a ton of knowledge from this video. I remembered doing a ton of research and product testing for this one so I was very puzzled by your complaints. I wasn’t just ‘rambling’, I was educating the viewer on some of the features and functions of this machine. That’s part of what I do on my channel is teach people things. Let me take an opportunity to educate you a little further: That word is spelled ‘clickbait’, not ‘click bate’ as you’ve been screen captured typing here. You are smart though so I’m sure you knew that already. I hope your life gets better my brother. I’ll talk to you again down the road.
