Back then before social media, instead of rudely announcing our displeasure with different approaches to life, people did constructive things like turn their personal frustrations into art that everyone could enjoy. It can be very cathartic to wring some joy out life by evolving a frustration into a creation.

They are the Fairbrass brothers who owned a gym in London. They would see all the posing going on by the patrons and joked about all the narcissistic behavior. The lead singer apparently took off his shirt one day and began posing and made up this song. Song became a hit.

It was sending up the modelling/fashion industries with ridiculous lyrics-the visuals were a giveaway as well, the bald guitarist had £15 stuck on his guitar. They were huge in the UK & Europe from 1991-1993 as a joke band, but then had no real success after that-although they are still huge in Germany as a touring band. More recently they ended up being derided due to their Covid views. Right Said Fred was a hit single for the UK actor Bernard Cribbins 30 odd years earlier & they named themselves after that.

This song took over when it released…Ppl had the most self esteem at that time than any other time since Ive been alive. It sounds like itd be a cocky song to make as an artist but in reality it transferred that self worth into every body that listened to it. It was on the radio all the time snd when it came on you couldnt help but feel a bit stronger about yourself. Its a pretty cool little transfer of self esteem.

1st) Asia has one of the most fantastic li'l faces anyone could ever see! 2nd) As far as 'one-hit-wonder' i think these guys were actually a 'two-hit-wonder'.(But don't ask me to remember the other one, haha) Two brothers (i think from Germany, but i could be wrong on that) I heard on a brief interview(somewhere) that he had made this song as a 'goof' and then it just f'n took off. It was popular, got a lot of play on MTV at the time (unfortunately haha. A lot of us just thought it sucked, and couldn't figure out it's popularity) Idk, a lot of people apparently liked it. Now there's that one catchy little riff (it shows the guy playing it on a guitar, but it sounds so heavily synthesized, it sounds more like a key-board) idk if they sampled that from someone, or if others had sampled it from them. That's the part you probably heard 'somewhere'. That's actually, not a bad riff, on it's own. And yet somehow perfectly fits the whole 'cat-walk theme'. I could totally picture a girl walking a cat-walk with that music playing, it just somehow fits. But yeah, ha ha, 'so' ridiculous, smh, indeed.

Right Said Fred is comprised of the buff brothers Richard and Fred Fairbrass, and at the time, guitarist Rob Manzoli. The Fairbrass Brothers were managers at a London dance studio called the Dance Attic, where they came across lots of narcissism and posing. As Rich Fairbrass tells it, they had a loop playing on the computer, and inspired by his dance studio experience he spontaneously took his shirt off and started singing, "I'm too sexy for my shirt." Peace out.

Formed by brothers Fred and Richard Fairbrass in 1989 and are still going today! They are best known for the hit 1991 song "I'm Too Sexy". Think about this it reached number 1 hits in 70 countries including one US number 1, one UK number 1, and a number 1 in Japan. They were the first UK band to reach the number one slot in the US with a debut single since The Beatles. They have performed for Queen Elizabeth of the United Kingdom, Nelson Mandela. Crazy fun Song!

Great satiric piece. Samples Hendrix: Third Stone From the Sun. So did Jaco. The circle continues.

This song was popular in dance clubs too. It was a joke song and we all danced to it like it was a joke. Good memories, good memories 🤣

Making fun of people who think they are too sexy. It's perfect. Though, back in the day everybody became too sexy on the dance floor when this song started. It was fun.

Right Said Fred are an English-based band and the song is fun and incredibly tongue-in-cheek. As you know us Brits like to make fun of ourselves. The band are named after a popular comedy song from the 1960s called “Right Said Fred” by the actor Bernard Cribbins where he spins a tale of men trying to move a piece of furniture and gradually dismantling the whole house in the process.

Two voices from the early days of rock and roll recently passed away, Ronnie Hawkins and Bobby Rydell, who Rydell High School in Grease was named for. Could you please listen to Ronnie Hawkins sing Mary Lou (live) and I'll Never Dance Again by Bobby Rydell?
