    A small oil leak has been driving me nuts for months. Until now, I was not able to find the source. My leak is a lot slower, but sure enough, its coming from the hydraulic jack. You saved me $$$. Thanks.

    Replaced mine last week. Easy, peesy, just like the video. No leaks. Bleeding the air out wasn't necessary. My oil company let me run out of oil on Christmas Eve and I had to buy diesel fuel from the gas station to heat the family. That's when the seal started leaking. The aromatic additives attack the seals. Now I am using biodiesel #2 fuel oil. I will see how that works out long term. So far so good.

    My guy, ive spent the past 45 mins scouring the internet for information on what the hell this part was, and was under the impression that it was some sort of valve. Thank god you posted this, otherwise i mightve lost one of my five senses hahaha. Great job, but still have no idea as to why the hydraulic ram is even needed for the boiler, when it already has a supply from both the tank, and a suction from the pump. Cheers!

    You're welcome, glad the video was helpful! I believe the idea was the close the damper so when the unit was not running there would be no heat escaping up the flue through natural draft. This Riello head (I think it was named "Micron 10" or something due to it's age) was about 24 years old in 2014, this Bock water heater finally failed in 2018 (with well water)! New heads have it fixed, no jack.

    The hydraulic jack was replaced but is still leaking. What's causing that. Then then I replaced it again with the old one it leaked from the top instead of the top. Then I replaced the cap and copper wire and then the top of that started leaking. What am I doing wrong. Any help.

    @hvac01453

    well I know you can't just eliminate the door (Air Gate ) you need that for air adjustments for the fuel mixture just like any other burner

  • @garyabc

    @garyabc

    4 жыл бұрын

    With the line plugged the door must be fixed in the open position. This let's a continuous stream of warm air from the house go up the chimney 24/7. Of course your oil service guy would want you to plug the line. This will use more oil and take more money from your pocket and put it in his pocket.

    @@DB-oe3tg You're welcome! The repairman that works on my neighbors boiler said today it's common practice to plug the line and leave the damper open, holding it open with a self-tapping screw instead of replacing a leaky jack. Maybe search on the internet for it. I think the idea behind the jack is for no convection air flow up the damper when the unit is not running.

    Make sure to clean off the air shutter before actually calling for heat. If fuel gets into the air shutter, your house will smell of home heating fuel, just saying. These jacks fail regularly, replaced mine 2 years ago and is now leaking.
