Riding my New Bike at one of Canadas Best Bike Parks!

Спорт

This is one of Canadas best kept "secret" bike parks, and this weekend was opening its day. Even though Bromont Bike Park has been around for years, and hosted several world cups, and has some heinous terrain, I've only ridden here once before and only on one trail. This trip was exciting for me because I get a chance to discover a new place!

    Man it never ceases to amaze me watching you clear the lens with your left thumb while riding downhill thru rocky terrain around sketchy trees and corners while steering with only your right hand. Serious bike control dude. 💪🏼 17:44 for reference.

    Yeah, I don't watch as much POV as I used to and mostly just watch Seth ... BUT Phil is and always has been an instant click and full watch. I love his commentary and his riding is one-of-a-kind ... Plus I'm in the Northeast so he rides a lotta the same stuff I do, albeit just a tad better!

    Hi Phil. Thanks for this video. I live in Owen Sound, Ontario Canada and can get to Bromont in 8.5 hours. I can get to Mont Saint Anne Quebec in 12.5 hours. My 16 year old son and I are planning a downhill mtb trip for summer 2025. We have lots of trails riding experience but nothing specifically downhill. Is Mont Saint Anne worth the extra 4 hours drive or should we go to Bromont? Or should we come to Killington? It is 9.5 hours. In your opinion, which resort should we visit?

  • @nuckfish30

    You can go to Bromont. On the way back take a detour and hit MSS, Mont Blanc. The spend a couple days in the Ottawa area and pedal VÈLO MSM in Mont Ste Marie (approx 1 hour north of Ottawa), finish it up with some gnarly laps at Camp Fortune. That would be a fun trip.

    I used to ski a lot as a kid and never cared but for some reason, I'm now scared to death of heights lol I really want to ride my bike in Winter Park and other places here in CO but lifts scare the shit out of me. I don't want to have to drink in order to sooth the nerves...anyone have any tips?

  • @SkillsWithPhil

    @SkillsWithPhil

    13 күн бұрын

    While i can't relate, I've heard this from other people, so you aren't alone. Im actually semi afraid of heights but chairlifts don't phase me. I can only attempt to help. Number one tip I have is to not look directly down. Look in front, to the side, but resist looking below your feet. It might be worth visiting small resorts with slower lifts. The big resorts often have big spans between their towers and the chairs are higher off the ground. Itd be much easier to get comfortable with lifts at a small resort and work your way up. Lastly, how often do you fall off your couch or diner room chair? I bet it's pretty close to never. A chair lift isn't too much different. Also, having friends to keep your mind at ease and talking throughout the ride probably wouldn't hurt. I'm not sure if any of this is at all helpful, but i wish you the best of luck.

    @@SkillsWithPhil I really appreciate you responding, Phil! I saw your message when you responded but had to go to bed and didn't double back so my apologies. I'll look up some places that might have smaller lifts because you're right, the major ski lifts are way the hell up there and it's daunting. We took the kids up the Gondola at Winter park and my kids were nervous so I had to play it off like nothing was wrong but little did they know I was dying inside lol...I hate it because I was never afraid of heights as a kid nor have I had anything traumatic happen...it's so weird...even when riding my dirtbike I'm afraid to be up in the air when hitting jumps even though I used to smash triples and other big jumps when I was younger... Might just have to suck it up and care more about the journey down the hill than the journey up.

His video style is realistic, dude has a life outside of making videos (volunteering making mtb trails) and rides better than all KZreadrs aside from winning World Cup runs by Loic Bruni. If you wanna watch some cheese ball advertise and hype up products and bikes for no reason you shouldn’t watch this authentic down to the core mountain biker (Phil).
