Riding Jeffery
Some are born great, some achieve greatness, and some have greatness thrust upon them. - William Shakespeare
Joel Lybbert, a colt starting champion and professional cowboy takes you on an inspiring journey with a wild mule named Jeffery.
Jeffery was an untouched 6 year old plucked off of the Alberta prairie. Watch Joel and Jeffery as they learn to communicate through the Bar JL Method. When things got rough Lybbert had to grasp for techniques that would help connect with this mule. Jeffery is one of the toughest mules ever filmed!
Lybbert believes training is about learning to build a connection between you and your equine. His connection with Jeffery came from finding mutual respect for each other. He believes you should always push yourself to progress with your horse.
"Joel showed that he could take a totally untouched mule and win one of the toughest competitions that there is. Try to learn from his life experiences on how it made him a champion" - Les Clancy, Missouri Mule Makeover producer.

I didn't want this video to end. Amazing job, outstanding trainer. Jeffrey made him think and dig deeper inside than, I'm sure, even he knew he had. Hats off to Joel and Jeffrey.

I am his oldest fan, 80+ years old. What he accomplished was absolutely amazing. I watch his training over and over. I am really thrilled that he finished the job. Has anyone besides Joel tried to ride him? It is thrilling that Joel won. Anita In Abuquerque, NM.
