Riding CNW train FDGBA on 2-15-1985
On February 15, 1985, a nice cold clear winter day, I rode Chicago & North Western train FDGBA from Fond du Lac to Green Bay, WI and back. Due to it still being the full crew days, I was in the second unit. I had my camera along, and took a number of shots on our trip up. Semaphores still ruled the line. Come along for the ride. Oh - and please subscribe as I have more neat stuff to produce.

CNW had some BEAUTIFUL stations!!!
Those were some fun photos to look at and some of those areas today are so changed yet some other scenes still looks similar. Having grown up near the Lakeshore sub I always loved those semaphores then after they were removed came the signs for Block occupancy. Got a kick out of the Shannon Warehouse shot as it reminded me of how for years the CNW treated 2 grocery warehouses south of Butler yard with setouts of hot produce and just in time frozen foods. Today that land is all apartments or a strip mall. To think WC much less FRVR weren't on the scene yet.
Great stuff, Brian! Lots of neat stuff to see. Unfortunately, much is gone but not forgotten.

That is my hope and desire, Thank you.
This was 11 months before I was born, but now I'm annoyed with early-'90s kid me for never begging my parents to take me to see all the railroading awesomeness that was the FRVR, WC and GBW all working side-by-side in the Fox Valley just a 90-120 minute drive away from us in Madison; but in the pre-Internet era I just didn't know.

LOL-don't beat yourself up. Everybody says that. Or wishes they had been born 10 years earlier. In my case, I had a camera and had access to cool stuff in the 60's but just didn't take many pictures, being a kid. Now I look back....oh well......
