    it is also quite wrong though, i'm sorry to say but this guy is just saying a lot of random rubbish! there are only 2 ways for leaning, 1 is at low speed, and 1 at high speed. low speed is called counter balancing where you push the bike to whatever side you want to lean, and the body on the opposite side, while at high speed or anything I'd say over 20mph you always need to do the rule of 3 (body > head > bike) you position your body first, then the head, and the bike will automatically follow. If you study for any advanced driving test, this is the first thing you'll ever learn. there is no french, push, pull there is only your body controlling the bike, with one simple rule, the more the bike is leaned down, the less efficient your traction would be, which increase the risk, if the bike is leaned your suspension will also work a lot less which in case of anything on your way, will result in an inevitable crash. the only reason the counterbalancing is used at low speed is because it has a better angle for any U turn or anything similar, but since is low speed the danger is basically voided as you can see way in advance if there's any obstacle, and will always be in control of the bike in case you need to adjust your line. I know you wrote this comment a year ago, but I hope this is useful for you from now on, or any other newbie driver coming up next, this video is really really bad and miss leading new drivers

    Nice video which is not telling us how to ride, simply explaining different ways of riding vis a vis body position. How we ride is completely up to us. Casey Stoner won two premier class championships by adapting to whichever machine was under him along with the prevailing conditions. So in my humble opinion that's a strong argument for mixing and matching riding styles.

    Nice video. I do a combination of English and Leaning in style. For slower corners more English style and faster corners Leaning in.

    Lots of useful information as ever, love the mix & match explanation. My adventure bike has 21" front wheel and I am sometimes curious when riding with friends, how much this influences cornering characteristics compared to say a sports bike. Thanks as ever Zsolt.

    When you have less grip on the front tire, the steering into the corner (so when you push the inside handlebar to lean the bike down) has to be a little bit softer. With wider tire (more grip) you are able to make more direct steering movements. With less grip the correct cornering line becomes more important.

    Slow in fast out and wide entry. I enter into a right bend near curb, extra inches give rider more counter steer

    I always use the leaning inside, feels much safer and haven't noticed the hardness you mention, did 8000km last year in my ST1300 and I was 61 yo 😅😅😅😅 The only thing that I've noticed is that the tires do get a characteristic flat degradation on the sides 🤣🤣 #oadubr

    Leaning inside is not good for hitting an ice patch or gravel. Without the traction of the tires creating centrifugal force, the bike is completely unbalanced on lean. It will fall over very quickly under loss of traction. With off-road style counterbalancing, you could theoretically hit an ice skating rink and maintain balance indefinitely - never falling over, despite no traction.

    Hi, thx for the interesting video. However I do not fully agree with the emphasis on the advantages of the pushing style, I think its to be avoided at all times, except at very low (like bicycle/walking)speeds when making a tight U turn(on the road itself) or a very very tight inside hairpin (and combined with looking sharp 90degr to the inside). It all depends a bit on your cornerspeed.I think it can be dangerous when using it >30km/h and moderate/high speeds.Unless you want to drift your rear tire, throttle on/slight rearbreak on, like a supermotard. I also do not fully agree with the emphasis on the disadvantage of outside style. When moving your head towards the inner mirror you can corner faster and smoother with less leanangle. This moving of the head to the inner mirror comes naturally when you initiate the lean by pushing the inner bar (countersteering).(later on you can also add shifting the buttcheek just a bit, use the pegs to shift, not the handllebar) and this also makes you look further into the corner and if you dont exagerate it the whole day,it is not tiring at all. Its just a very good habbit I think. Would also be interesting to add the importance of your position on the roead when starting to lean: keep outside long enough, and the advantage of choosing a lower gear/high revs wich makes your bike more fixed, in the midrange of your suspensiontravel and more enginebreak.But interesting video to visualize the different styles, but I would emphasise the disadvantages of pushing the bike much more.Grtz and have a fun ride.

    IMO hanging style requires appropriate speed, and makes corner tightening easier. But you need a speed. French on the road is asking for trouble: what if the turn goes tighter than you expect - oops, I can't lean more!!

    Great info ... I do use French sometimes but it seems when I'm mostly making a quick alignment adjustment just through the road snaking a little...if that makes sense

    The way I got taught was the pushing style is mainly used to avoid obstacles/accidents at low speeds. Up to 50kmh.

    I disagree. I have found that on a road that snaps quickly and repeatedly left and right, the quickest way to move the bike from one bank to the opposite, is to lower the inertia of the bike by letting it move beneath you. Once the bike is over, then you can add your mass to the inside. Best of both worlds… I think this is the exact point that they are making. Competence in all styles.

    The 3rd position of leaning of the bike has another advantage not spoken about. That is if you fall off you don't have as far to fall and injure yourself. Better leave that one on the race track and not attempt to try it on our narrow country roads especially on blind bends. Stick to the UK number 1 as its by far the safest way of taking bends, corners or curves and seeing that we apparently have hundreds of bends its also the laziest way with less fatigue involved. . Happy cornering. but keep it safe ok.

    In principle you are correct with body leaning, in practice you are wrong. If using nosy positioning, you should be an advanced rider and be able to hold an outside line to maintain better visibility (I almost never see people keeping outside line for max visibility), will have extra lean and brake in reserve, are more balanced on the bike and only need light steering input which helps your suspension ‘do it’s thing’, and you never have to worry about decreasing radius runes of your braking late and turning deep using trail braking. I know that’s not for everyone, but I did want to highlight this as what you’re talking about are the basics, correctly so too, but it isn’t accurate for advanced riding. PS - You mentioned your visibility is limited, but did you see how filthy your windscreen is? It’s like you got hit with a cement gun while riding by.
