Ride to Payson, AZ - Suzuki GSX-8S

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

I decided to take a short trip to a city about 80 miles north of Mesa, Arizona. I was looking for a relaxed scenic ride to put some miles on the new bike.

Nice calm ride. Your audio setup is very impressive, crisp. Thanks

Something kind of comforting about the low frequency drone of a twin cylinder, compared to a triple or four. It's torque and sound just feel reassuring, and less fatiguing to listen to over a long ownership. It's a little like music... a great orchestral piece offers so much strength, foundation, and power with the low frequency instruments coming in... like tuba, bass viola, bass guitar, even trombone.

Your video inspired me so I took my new 8S up South Mountain today. Beautiful day and the newness of the 8S attracted a couple of other riders to stop to ask questions and check out my bike. Road to San Juan Point still closed and even more unfortunate the road to the towers was also blocked off but still great fun and an excellent place to put on break-in miles.

I like that ride up South Mountain but haven't been over that way with the 8S yet.

@@KSSTUDIOS I was riding my GSX-8S today too and I got lost in baltimore.... Not the good part of the city during rush hour. lol People riding pass me doing wheelies on dirtbikes and 4 wheelers running red lights. it was a pretty cool ride still. Finally found my way out and did some lovely backroads home. Will not be going back to the city anytime soon though. lol Can't wait for spring and summer to take my 8S through some mountains. Getting cold on the East Coast sadly.

I enjoyed watching you ride. That is great scenery. I own an MT09, so similar naked bikes. The nice aspect of these class bikes is that the performance to insurance ratio is affordable.

Thanks for the comment! I agree about the insurance, I definitely thought the 8S was going to cost more.

Rode the MT09 after a demo ride on the 8S. 09 is a beast. 8S is playfully fun 😊

I'd say the KTM Duke 990 coming is the power equivalent to the MT-09, if you wish to stay in the twin class of engines.

I am going to get an 8s before Spring. Almost have enough saved up to pay cash for it. This is the one bike that nobody has anything bad to say about it and speaks for the quality. I am torn on which color. The blue or the black and blue. I loved this video btw, very cool and glad I found your channel. My last bike was a middleweight sportbike that just isnt the greatest for anything but going fast imo and im past that in my life.

I had the opportunity to do a Suzuki demo ride and loved the 8S. I have a Yamaha FZ8 and I agree, at some points in the rpm range the 8S actually felt soother than similar rpm on the FZ8. And my FZ8 has a very smooth engine. But it too is a slightly buzzy engine when making it scream lol. I had the chance to demo the GSXS1000 as well and it was terrible. It was buzzy everywhere! Thanks for this comment. I'm very close to trading the FZ8 in on white 8S I think 🤔 😊 If I trade the 8S will be my 32nd bike. I'm 58.

Most 4-cylinder engines produce some high frequency vibrations. Those are secondary imbalances (engineering definition of complex stuff that probably no one cares much about). Up to about 1L in 4-cylinder engines, some manufacturers use counterbalance shafts in the engine block to cancel some buzz. Some don't. Just depends on the purpose. Race track superbikes want to convert all the power to turning the wheel and don't want some of that power to turn a balancing shaft. There are very few inline-4 engines that run dual counterbalance shafts, but those which do, are buttery smooth (usually large displacement, 1300cc+). H2 Kawasaki runs dual counterbalancers. Z900 runs a single balance shaft, but the result is supremely smooth. One of the smoothest inline-4 engines on the market.

Personally, I find the seat comfort to be extremely important for my riding experience. I will be very curious to know if you decide to get the comfort seat and what you think about it. I really enjoy watching your riding video blogs!

I'll probably pick one up when I can find one in stock. I'll make sure to do a video on it.

@KSSTUDIOS just an FYI, I had a gel seat on my DRZ400SM. Terrible seat. Gel is a fluid so it doesn't compress, and you'll find yourself sitting on the seat base after a while. Get something with a different type of or just more foam. Best of luck!

Most OEM seats on Japanese sporty motorcycles are from a 2 to 4 out of 10. They are built for style and not comfort. They aren't difficult to improve but you'll have to find a seat builder, or wait until the aftermarket has picked up enough to swap it for something better. Certain popular models have a lot of options, others have no options.
