    As normal, another cool tire review Kyle! I know the area. It's nice to see you are putting these knobby's through their paces in everything!! I'm still rolling my Anakee wilds on my Super Tenere. Of course I'm a little (well maybe a lot) chicken to take my beast in some of the stuff your riding. Riding all these different adventure bikes and tire combos is really increasing your skill level. I notice you are getting better with each test. And also can tell the dramatic differences between smooth and knobby tires.

    I can't say enough how much I appreciate you and your team taking the time to review all of these tires. I have a similar bike (KTM 1090r). It came with TKC80's but I wanted something to mix with commuting, a long 2k road trip and some off road. I ended up with the Shinko 705s. Cheap, lasts a long time but off road is a little weak in the soft stuff. Especially since I'm a novice at off road. These reviews really helped! I think I'll go with a combination of different front/rear from motoz. Maybe a GPS in the rear and something else in the front. I don't see myself doing anything in deep sand but possibly gravel, single/double track and obviously rutted fire roads.

    @@timphoto83ec yes I ran the TKC 80 front, Motoz Tractionator adventure rear, then I switched to the Motoz Rallz matching front and rear set and couldn’t be happier with their gravel road/off-road performance. Only gripe I would have about the Rallz front is that it does have a tendency to wash the front end when really pushing the bike in hard corners on asphalt. Other than that I couldn’t recommend MOTOZ enough!

    Thanks for the video. Running the RallZ rear with a Desert HT front on my Husky 701. On that smaller bike the more aggressive HT front is excellent, while the tighter knobbed RallZ rear tire holds up to the punishment dished out by the big single better than the Desert HT does. Front end traction dictates what one can do on a still heavy compared to a real dirt bike 701, but it is capable of some pretty dirt bike like stuff with this tire combo and yet it is fine on the road. Thankfully we don't have rain grooves where I live.

    GPS Rear + Adv Front ... It's the HOT Ticket. I ran than on my BMW R1200GSA and LOVED it. 12k miles... and it works. The GPS tire shoot was done the day after this shoot.... (look at the Silver AT in this video... It has the GPS mounted) ... The GPS really performed well. The center strip in the rear allows it to slip on gravel covered hard pack ... but the longevity is outrageous. I too wanted more "meat up front" and ran the Adventure Tire. That combo was legit. Great question! I currently have the Adventure tire on my 950 Super Enduro and the RallZ on my 1190 Adv R. I need to go run the Adventure tires again... to see what true differences I FEEL when they are run back to back. The first set of Tractionator Adventure tires I tested seemed to last longer than my most recent Adventure tire and for sure longer than the RallZ tire. I ordered a set of these from y’all today after watching your reviews. I am a little confused about air pressure on these. Ive read they have very low max air pressure limits indicated on the sidewall. Im on a R1200GSA LC and usually running 36/41 on the street and 25/25 off payment. What are your thoughts on these limits and what are your recommendations for the GSA? Thanks for the best tire videos on the web!

  • @chaparralmotorsports

    @chaparralmotorsports

    4 жыл бұрын

    Thank you for your inquiry Amanda and thanks for watching our videos. The max PSI pressures on the sidewall of the RallZ is 36 psi front and rear. Part of the reason is the fact that the sidewalls of these tires are very stiff... and they can accept that pressure. On road I typically run them about 34 to 36 and off road I drop them to 18 psi in the sand and about 22 to 24 everywhere else. The GSA is a little heavier than my KTM... so your numbers are right in line with what I'd recommend. Near max on-road and 22 to 25 psi off road. Happy Adventuring! -- Kyle & the Chap Moto Team

    Thank you for watching! Yes... Rain grooved cement it a bit unnerving sometimes! Regarding the front tire wear... It will happen on any true knobbie if you use the front brake the way it is intended. All of my front tires do that!! What is happening is when you front brake hard, the knob flexes back and the front of the knob rolls... and takes the "scrub." The rear of the know is "sheltered" and is just following along if you will. Take a look at 0:44 mark of this video where I discuss this topic #4 and show my Metzeler Karoo 3 kzread.info/dash/bejne/pXutrreMaKiWf5s.html It happens. -- Kyle & the Chap Moto Team

    I'm surprised at how chewed up that rear tire is after 1 day of adventure style riding. You mention in comments that you have 3500 miles on this same tire on your 1190, but this 300 mile (guessing) trip through the back country of San Bernadino looks to have shredded 10% of the rear tire. Are my observations accurate? If so, how is the tire on the KTM holding up so well?

  • @chaparralmotorsports

    @chaparralmotorsports

    4 жыл бұрын

    My 1190 tire is ridden 60 miles per day for my commute and then I play "ride hard off-road" typically one weekend day for about 150 miles. More street than dirt allows the tire to get much more mileage. Our rocky mountain roads TEAR up tires! The 150 to 300 miles I have put on each set of these tires really is hard on them as it is mostly rough rocky terrain with the rear tire being pushed and it is just spinning back there... It is abnormal terrain and an abnormal percentage of dirt vs. street. Now if "street" is drag racing, popping wheelies or "flying on the freeway" the tire goes away quicker... AND Air Pressure plays a HUGE role too. That is my 2 cents... Thanks for watching! -- Kyle & the Chap Moto Team

Did you do this and I just missed the video or it's in the works? I'm trying to decide between these two tires to put on my Tiger 800xca for 60% off road/40% road, and of course our terrain is a little different in Georgia than out west. We have red clay, mud, rock gardens, etc. so it seems softer, wetter stuff than out west, (speculation from videos). Which tire would you suggest based on your experiences? Thanks.

    Thank you for your comment Scott. The Rallz vs. Adv video is "in the works" and will not be done for at least 6 or 8 weeks... as the Adv Tires I need are not available at the moment. I do have the comparison in the works though. Having run 3 sets of the Adventure and 2 sets of the Rallz now... I would say that I had better luck in MUD and Rain on the RallZ tire. This is due to the rubber compound make-up I think. Additionally, the RallZ front tire is much more aggressive than the Adventure tire and I found it to do better in loose situations. That being said, the road manners of the Adventure were just a tad better than the RallZ. They are SO Close in performance. Can't really go wrong with either. -- Kyle & the Chap Moto Team

    @@chaparralmotorsports Ah, well, I'll be on the lookout for that head to head comparison video whenever that gets finished. I'm going to try and make the Bridgestone AX41 Adventurecross last until the holidays, then I'll order one of the MotoZ rear tires. Thanks for the videos, they are informative and in my book, quality reviews in varying conditions to give riders a good overall picture of the tire, like trying on shoes before buying.

    @@tigerrider007 Love it! Thank you for your support. I mounted AX41's to the Africa Twin and RIPPED our test course... 1.5 hours. I was just on the RallZ on the same bike in the same conditions just two week ago. I took an early morning ADV ride today with 5 Africa Twins. The tires on all bikes were the AX41, MotoZ GPS, Kenda Big Block DS, TKC70 and the stock Dunlops. That video will be out in a bit... it was fun! I can tell you this... The RallZ is a heavier tire and is more robust. Probably a better rock tire. The sidewall is much more robust and it gives less feedback on fast highway. The AX41 is a lighter tire overall. The feedback on the fast highway and tight twisties is more "sport bike tire" feeling as compared to Mud Tire feeling. That being said... I can more comfortably with less tire squirm (read no tire squirm) rail the RallZ through fast corners. The AX41 does it well, but does have some movement. Deep sand... hey both are great. Mud, I think the AX41 has a little more grip as the blocks are so irregular. Downhill breaking - similar. What else.... do you hae any specific questions? Cheers - Kyle

    @@chaparralmotorsports Chaparral Motorsports I guess then I'd be trying to compare the AX41 to the RallZ tire, without having run a RallZ. I have a feeling that both do really well off road, and one slightly edges out the other on road, but the big question for me is the MotoZ worth $88 more than the AX41? I'm looking at getting around 3000 miles out of that Bridgestone, so would $88 more get me more miles from the RallZ?

    I’m glad to find these comments as I am trying to decide between four different sets of tires... I have a 2017 AT manual that I like to have better grip off-road here in VA (wet trails covered in leaves but also some rocky Jeep trails with baby heads) I am also planning a trip to Colorado to ride some jeep trails out there which is probably dryer but very rocky. How much more traction will I get with the tractionator desert h/t than the Rallyz, and what is the lifespan difference? Are the desert H/T’s sketchy on the road? Rallyz vs AX41 vs Tractionator desert H/T vs scorpion rally

    Yes Tony, I can speak about the two different tires. I have never had the RallZ tire "step out" on me ever. However... I have had that un-nerving situation happen many times on the TKC80's. On my KTM 450 exc, KTM 950 Super Enduro and my BMW R1200GSA multiple times. I think the are equivalent in wet weather... The RallZ lasts me 2x as long mileage wise as the TKC80. Chaparral can't post speeds in corners I have run the RallZ tire at... but you can see it here: kzread.info/dash/bejne/n3Vrx5d7cdCcc7Q.html Thanks for watching, Kyle

    @@manybikes thanks for the input. TKC80'S work well on the road (dry), are okay in dirt. Glad you found the Rallz at least comparible to the TKC front. Looking forward to trying out the Rallz on my 701. Yes, I noted the speeds and know that road well, kindred spirits I think lol

    Man... they are all different depending on your specific needs. My top 3 are the Motoz RallZ (more hardcore dirt / mud), Bridgestone AX41 (best feeling street & is amazing off road - wears out quick) and Dunlop TrailMax Mission which is my new all around favorite. They each have their strong suites. Thanks for watching - Kyle

    The RallZ tire was released about a year prior to the AX41 release... That being said, they re VERY different. The Rallz knobs are more square and the AX41 knobs are more Trapezoidish in shape... The big differences between the two tires are tread depth, sidewall ply / stiffness and rubber compound makeup. Very different. Thanks for watching! -- Kyle & the Chap Moto Team

    I really do like the DCT everywhere... except when the going gets really rough. Now... If I could rig a Clutch Lever that would allow me to "slip the clutch" it would be AMAZING! Not being able to REV the motor high making the bike stable and Limited the power put to the ground is a missing feature. Additionally, not being able to "clutch it up" to lift the front wheel up and over a log... or something like that is a bummer too. That being said, on the street and basic fire road / off-road action the DCT is super fun and really easy to get used to. - Kyle

    i’m running them on my 690 - pretty amazing on road for such an aggressive off-road tread.. really good leaned over on pavement, track really well in gravel and seem to have great traction everywhere in the dirt.. they are really predictable in all conditions and don’t do anything weird.. they hum a bit, but totally worth it for the performance.. i run a 140 rear.. only 500 miles so far, but i already think they are the perfect tire for the 690.
