    Coach Bob, we met a lady back home in Maryland she was 65 years old. She had just got her license to ride her motorcycle and We took her out for a ride and she had a great time. I believe you're never too young Or too old To learn how to ride a motorcycle. So get out there and Have fun and be safe doing it

    We are 65 years young & bought our first ever motorcycle a 2022 Spyder RT Ltd after looking at it for years. After going through Covid we decided to take the plunge & enjoy what life we have left while we’re still able too, & it’s so much fun! We have met so many other people who think the same way. So coach keep doing these great videos to let folks know you’re never too old to ride & get that wind in your face ! Regards Stephen & Pauline Alberta Canada.

    It took three years of convincing by my best friend who is now 72 before I got my very first motorcycle, my Spyder RT Sea-to-Sky, in 2022. One of the best decisions I've ever made. Every time I ride, I have a smile on my face and joy in my soul. Cheers Coach!

    You are absolutely right! I am to be 64 on November 22 and I picked up my 24 Sea to Sky on February 17th. I’m pretty sure that it was the first in Utah. I have had it 6 weeks and hit 3400 miles yesterday 🤓. I haven’t ridden in 45 years. It be “in the wind “ makes me feel alive like I haven’t felt in decades. “Get one” is all that I can say and DO the Can Am motorcycle safety course. I’ve ridden through Zion National Park 6 times now and am always in awe of God’s beauty. It poured rain for the last 2 hours of my ride yesterday , and property geared up, at freeway speeds, I was once again amazed at how this machine performs. Windy mountain roads with rain to the point of snow flakes, blew my mind and even had me jumping up and down as I called a fellow rider to say how much I wished that he was there. Live life while you can and Praise God for every breath you are given. Happy Ascension Day. Hope to ride with you in Deadwood this July! Spyda’ on!

    I started at the age of 68 and had never ridden a motorcycle before. At my age I was concerned about balancing a two wheel. My grandson found me a 2011 Can Am Spyder RT Limited for sale. I looked at it and test rode it after getting instructions how to operate the semi-automatic transmission. After the test ride, I was hooked and I purchased it and really enjoyed it. Wished I had started at an earlier age. I enjoyed riding the Spyder so much, I traded my 2011 in for a 2022 Spyder F3 Limited. I feel Glad I made the decision to get a Spyder.

    Yes, yes yes you can! Starting to ride a three wheeler at 72 is not at all inexplicable. I rode two wheels for 50 years and had to ride around my work schedule for 43 of those years. Only riding in nice weather …sometimes on weekends when I could find the time, when I wasn’t busy doing some errand or chore. But when I retired, I bought my first SPYDER! Yeah, it’s a challenge. sometimes… I have neuropathy in both feet. I had my one shoulder replaced, a knee replaced. I’ve got horrible arthritis in my feet but damn that Wind therapy is amazing! What riding into the golden sunset can do for you is amazing…and I’m gonna be 73 in July!

    I started riding at 65. I took the three wheel course, got my three wheel motorcycle license and bought a Ryker. Taking the three wheel course will probably tell you whether you have the bare minimum coordination and reactions to ride a three wheeler. If you do pass it, you can buy a three wheeler and start practicing to work up to street riding. Once I felt comfortable with street riding, I started driving on highways. Remember when you are practicing that practice is riding and can be fun. I bought my Ryker in the summer of 2001 and now have over 17,000 miles on it. I have never looked back and am now addicted to riding. I ride everyday that the weather permits. I would start by taking the course and then determine whether riding is right for you. If you can physically do it and you enjoy it. Go for it. If not you at least gave it a try and you will know it is not right for you. Good luck.

    Another get video Coach Bob. I’m 48 and my wife is 45. I hadn’t ridden since high school and my wife had never ridden anything. We went and did the 3 wheel course that can am offered on their website. It was great. Two years after doing it we finally got a spyder RTL. My wife absolutely loves riding she takes it to lunch whenever she can. We enjoy getting out and riding two up also. To the gentleman that asked about ride I say do it. It’s so great to get out and enjoy the wind and scenery. Go take a riding class through can am and see if you even like it. Looking forward to the next video coach Bob.

    In my opinion it is NEVER to late to ride! There are so many options out there for people with different abilities. As for The Comment in question... I strongly suggest take a Spyder Course and see what you think, they aren't for everyone but I think you will absolutely love it and you have an advantage of not being programmed to riding 2 wheels which can take some getting used to when going to a Spyder. Don't wait another day and go for it!!! So maybe people I ride with are retired and much older than me. Go For It!!!

    I’m 64 and never rode on the front of a motorcycle. I always rode on the back. I decided it was now or never so I finally made it into a Can-Am training class. The five hours of MSF bookwork was a cram session because I didn’t see the email that was sent giving me 30 days. By the time I saw it I had less than half a day to finish it. It ended up taking me seven hours. It was also unfamiliar and my aging brain made it tough. Then came the riding class. It was two days long and I had never rode nor worked a throttle before. I’m pretty sure I was the worst one in the class. lol I was determined to get that certification though. The second day I even shed some tears and I didn’t really want to go. I was certain I wasn’t going to pass and I was terrified of the range test. The other class members either owned the exact bike we were learning on or had driven two wheelers all their lives. I was the only newbie. It was an hour drive to the city where the class was held. After pep-talks from my family I forced myself to get in the car and head to class. I prayed to the big J all the way. There was a point that day that I even think I audibly said Come on, Jesus…hop on, we’re doing this! By some miracle, I passed not only the book test, but the range test and I even squeaked by the written test after all the others were over. I was exhausted. I couldn’t believe it! I received my new license with my certification a few days ago. It has been a lifetime dream. Through the years husband’s always told me no that I didn’t need to ride a bike. Lost two to cancer but what it taught me was life is short. Finally, it’s my time. I watch your videos a lot and I’m learning more and more and more. I had bought an F3 limited Spyder before I even was certified. I was really rethinking that during the class. Thank you for what you do. It really is helping us out here that are just learning. It’s never too late and you’re never too old! I’m living proof.

    Coach Bob 3, I have riden H.D. E-Glides for many years. The past few years I haven't felt as safe as I should due to some physical issues. I am 71 and have road my Harleys 4-5 thousand miles cross country many times. I've tried the Tri Glide, hated it, put a Voyager trike kit on my Glide, hated it. Bought a demonstration 2020 RT Limited in February and have riden about 5 or 6 times so far. I really like it and hope to put a ton of miles on it this summer. Love your videos, see ya down the road. This January I found the cause for my chronic knee issues and replacements are in my future. That drove me to make this switch to 3 wheels this week. So far I love my ‘23 Spyder RT Limited and have no regrets.

    Yet another great video Coach Bob. You do an awesome job of covering all the topics 👏🏻 I occasionally rode some small trail bikes when I was younger. Never owned a motorcycle of my own, but always had the desire to ride. Then marriage and family happened and my priorities took over. Now in my mid sixties, a good friend (Glen) let me ride his Spyder and it rekindled my desire to ride. After talking with my wife, and a few others I started shopping and found a great deal. Great deals are out there. At 64 I bought a 21 Spyder RT. Did all the stuff to relearn riding. A permit. MSF course in Indiana (Abate). Got my endorsement on my license. In my 1st year rode over 7k miles. We’re looking forward to S. Dakota with 2 other spyder riding couples (Glen, Mike and spouses) this fall. Live your dream, ride safe. Keep up the good work Coach Bob. Enjoy the journey 🙂✝️

    When I picked up my Spyder in May 2022, I told my rep I would probably ride it 2500-3000km per season. And he said he would bet a beer I would ride more than that. So, when I took it in for winter storage, I told him he would would have won that bet as I had ridden over 11 000km in my first full season. And I had never ridden any motorcycle before my Spyder. So, last year, guess what happened? When I took into winter storage last November, the odometer read 25 300km!! I am so looking forward to the 2024 riding season! Cheers!

I am 58 years old, semi retired and need something to keep me occupied in full retirement hence the Can Am Spyder might just be the one. There are two things holding me back, one is cost and the other is danger but as you say it's possible to have an accident in any part of life and I believe, if your numbers up their is nothing you can do about it! Many thanks for the advice Coach Bob, I think i am getting there slowly.

    Short answer, nope, never too old to ride. Long version, age won't hold you back from anything. Physical ailments will. You gotta take care of that transport device while here. Shocking how we agonize over regular or premium, what oil and filter, the gloves, a jacket, and next helmet, mulling it all while chomping a Whopper at BK. Eat right, have enough AWE in your life to want the next day to come, and go grab that gravity filled wench by the tail and tame it. I recently read in the monthly AMA magazine.."There is no such thing as "lost" time. There is "misspent" time." Don't misspend your time. Go ride if you want. Go travel. Go pursue that pretty girl. (Or guy or dog, or exotic salt water fish). But by all means GO! And BTW, the answers are premium, Delvac, Hi-Flo, Spidi, KLIM, and Shoei.

    I’m 54 and I’m wondering if I’m too old to start riding motocycles. I know I could ride a Spyder, but I’ve always wanted to ride motorcycles. I had even bought a brand new Ducati Monster 900 back in 2001, never rode it, and just sold it a couple of weeks ago for way too low I should have, but I just couldn’t stand the sight of it anymore. But now, it’s spring and I’m getting the bug again, this time I’m thinking Harley Davidson, probably a Street Glide or even a Custom. Maybe a Goldwing, why not? I’m not scared of manoeuvring, getting on the highway, keeping up with the speed of trafic. What I’m a little worried about, is ever since the "popular flu" we’ve had a couple of years ago, I caught it before the injections and got it really bad, it left me with some sequelae like swollen feet and dizziness. Anyway, I’m fed up with all this indecision I’ve been living with all these years. I’m going to give it the ol’ college try, have some fun, and if I can’t make it on a Harley, I’ll go with the Spyder. Thank you for all the wisdom you share here, Coach Bob. Another motorcycle channel I love to watch which I find is a real celebration of freedom, riding and going on adventures is Shadetree Surgeon. He’s a youngish guy, in his early 40s, out of Tampa Florida, he’s been riding since he was in his teens. He’s an advocate of riding whatever your budget is, he’s bought motorcycles for $1000, $2000, old Harley Shovelheads, ‘82 Goldwings, and rode them from the West Coast back to Florida, one time with his niece who just learned to ride! The footage he shot in the desert is trippy. Go watch it for inspiration. Cheers all, and to all who like bike, happy riding!

    Hey coach Bob! I've been looking at motorcycles for a few months now, and I'm thinking about making one my first vehicle. Im looking at some great 2 wheelers, but I think id be more comfortable on 3 wheels. I'm still young (26) and capable, so I'm curious how you feel about starting on a Ryker or Spyder? For one, I wonder if i should learn on a manual bike, rather than an automatic bike? (both Can am, and Honda's new DCT bikes.) And I'm hearing a lot of safety tips from biketubers, and one thing i hear about is lack of visibility, and defensive riding. How much more visible is a Spyder than a 2 wheeler? People say red lights are one of the most dangerous places on a bike, and since you can't lane filter, is there more of a chance of gettting rear ended, or do you have sufficient visibility? Love your vlogs, keep on keepin on!

  • @CoachBob3

    @CoachBob3

    Every point you make in this comment is spot on. You would do absolutely fine on the Ryker or the Spyder. I would definitely find a ride day at a dealer and check them both out. In my personal opinion I do believe the Spyder/Ryker format is more visible to cars, more forgiving and is somewhat safer. Now, for the 2 wheeled comments. Bikes are less forgiving, but man are they wonderful. I have four of them and ride them daily. The skills required to have a safer experience on two wheels simply takes longer. But, once you have it...you have it. My son is not particularly talented on a bike, but, when he takes the plunge that's the direction he's taking. He likes the Spyder, but feels he will have a better experience on a 2 wheels. With all of that said...follow your heart my friend. Thanks for your thoughtful comment. I appreciate you being here. 👍👍👍

    I’m 73 and have had my lower spine fused so I can empathize with your bad back. This spring I purchased a 2023 Spyder RTL and have about 2000 miles on it. I’ve ridden a 2018 Road King the last 5 years. It has an upgraded suspension with Legend shocks on the rear. The front end is stock. The Legend shocks were a big improvement over the stock shocks. Even with the Legend shocks, there is no comparison. The Spyder’s ride is a huge improvement. It has a great suspension and when you combine that suspension with tires that have 20 pounds of pressure in the front and 30 pounds pressure in the rear, you get a pretty good ride. The biggest issue for me was getting used to being on a trike and how hard it is now to miss road kill in the middle of the lane!😏

  • @CoachBob3

    @CoachBob3

    3 ай бұрын

    I would suggest riding both. It is definitely a huge financial decision. That said... When Vic and I rode a variety of trikes. She felt that the Spyder was the most gentle on her body. I would tend to agree with that. After 30,000+ miles on a Spyder I still enjoy the experience for hours on end.
