I think the problem with the supercub 125 is that it's exactly doing the opposite of what they marketed back then wherein the old cub was a cheap utilitarian bike.

Completely agree. There is no doubt it is a nice bike to ride. But when the Wave/PCX does the same thing for less than half the price it's hard to justify buying one. I'm still glad I got to try it though!

I think you're right about the lacking utilitarian aspect. The new cub is a bit of an oddity in the current market. It's not sold well in the UK (where I am) either, if you were looking at something to get as a practical machine, why would you choose a Honda SuperCub with no storage and a semi-auto over any of the many different scooters with some built in storage and a much "easier" CVT

I like smal bikes. I had few and I considered purchase of one of new Honda 125: Super Cub, Monkey, Dax or MSX. Unfortunatelly Honda mounted a keyless bullshit into Super Cub so I removed it for the list. I purchased a Dax and I'm really happy with it. Dax has traditional ignition switch, key lock for seat unlocking. So no bother about battery in FOB, no possibility of losing a key and riding away. Sometimes less is more.

So the reason I got the one in this video and not the trail version is because it was $1000 less and it had a proper gear indicator, which I really wanted so less than a year probably 2/3 of a year I have put over 7000 miles on it so far and it’s worked exactly the way it supposed to than regular maintenance and replacing where items like tires and things like that. Always wanted a super cub but they're so expensive here because of import taxes, and it looks like a really bad deal when the supra x(wave) 125 exists for a quarter of the price of the c125 with the same engine, less electronics, more seating/cargo space, and rear disk brakes

I’ve got one. It’s a great fun bike. They look ridiculous with baskets on the front & inside leg shield. But you can get them. There are loads of aftermarket solutions. I did put the Rack on the back which is very handy indeed. The only downside to a C125 is they are crap up a hill or mild incline. They loose all the “power”. Other than that they are ace.

I have a question @ smallbikestuff.. Between your Wave i 125 (stock) & Super Cub C 125..(even though, probably same PGM-FI Engine)...Which has Better Acceleration/ Top Speed/ Nimbleness/ Handling..over all, a bit more Sporty ? Thanks

In stock form they are almost identical in performance. The big difference was just the usability of the Wave in daily life with the extra storage. The 125 engine is so similar in every bike it's powering. People say the C125 is faster than the CT125 and while it's technically true, it's also not something you'd never really notice in daily life. So for me - it would be getting the bike that suited my needs most.

I gather they sold pretty rubbish when released in the UK I know I was watching one at the local Honda dealer ex demo bike with a few hundred miles and it took a while to sell for £2000!!! Used ones now are usually over £3000, maybe the poor sales is part of the reason we didn't get the CT125 which I was really gutted about although looking on ebay imports seem to have flooded the market and theres 10 of them currently for sale between £4300 and £5000!!

Interesting to hear a UK update. I remember people saying sales seemed low there. We had the original CT's so we were lucky enough to get the new ones. But I feel Honda has taken the low C125 sales as an excuse to not bring the Honda Dax 125 to New Zealand. So I guess we're even in that respect. No suprise people have listed their CT125's for sale as it can be an acquired taste. But I'm mind blown people paid the asking price. It's impressive if anything. I do wonder if Seven Seas importing the CT125's made Honda pull finger and bring in the Dax for you guys.

They sell some in Europe but not as much as 125 equivalent scooter. At the twice the price of a good quality 125 scooter and not all of the practicalities. They sell some numbers out of nostalgia (the nostalgia is not very big in Europe for the model anyway/, sell some to a motorcycle 'purist' that need something small for urban use but do not want the 'stigma' that they are riding cvt scooter. Yes, that is a thing here. On the other hand we have other expensive scooters like the Vespa and there are many times more new Vespas on the road here then Cubs.
