I love how the turbos don't sound like a jet when they spool up and don't have a huge wastegate flutter. They just have a nice, delicate little whistle just loud enough to let you know that there's two turbos sitting behind you.

There is simply NO better looking Ferrari on Earth!! I know the new stuff is amazing but I'll go to my grave always wishing I had a 288 GTO to drive. Just once!

I live 30 seconds away from Italia Autosport (the garage where the video started), hearing this and the F40's driving about genuinely makes my day

Its nice to see that some owners dont keep their rare supercars as garage queen. Great driving & very nice clutch handling.

The greatest Ferrari. Good to see it being driven as Enzo would of wanted, and not stuck in a museum never to be driven as an investment.

Very jealous here.. I'd love to get to drive a 288. Beautiful car, beautiful sound. Apparently they're commanding a higher used car price than F-40. Both are dreamy, but the 288... gorgeous.

Higher price than the F40? Really, cause everybody loves the F40, even the ones who know only the name and a few pictures, while I am sure not many people love the 288 GTO, because they just don´t know it, or because compared to the F40, they don´t like it that much. Personally, I always preferred the GTO, to me it´s a better car in general, even when I know it´s slower and not as overrated as the F40

I agree completely. The 288 GTO is one of my favorites. It retained the look of the popular 308, but added more bulk, power and flamboyance. It's like a 308 on steroids.

I think the record price for an F40 LM is over 5 million dollars, while a 288 GTO sold in 2017 at slightly less than 4. It is true however that the 288 GTO is rarer, as the F40 production, originally planned at 400 units, for several reasons was brought up to over 1300, not quite a few! In an interview, Nicola Materazzi, who designed both cars, said that his personal favourite is the 288 GTO Evoluzione, which is sort of a joining link between the two.

@@xsbgtr ferrari made 1311 f40s, so they should never get as expensive as a 288 or even an f50, as they only made 273 288 gto and 349 f50s.

Awesome car. One of my favorites 😍

To be honest, thats not how it was intended to be driven. Its a car ment for tarmac rallies/ racing. On narrow straights during a tarmac rally its supposed to top around 115-140 mph and avarage of around 70-85 mph.

I have a 1976 308, I did the 288 conversion, and V12 conversion, mostly because my car was an original DINO, and most everything was lost, original parts, and everything that made it a DINO, or even a 308 for that matter lol, But, the conversion was a blast to do, did the V12, then the 288 body conversion. Was so much fun to do something less constrained, my last car was a 250 GTO restoration, not a lot of room for creativity, the car looks and sounds great, mine should be on the road again, as warm temperatures approach.

I have no idea how I would drive on English roads. They are so damn narrow and people seem to always be on the left side to go around corners. Driving quickly must be heart-stopping. People park anywhere and everywhere. Most of them would be towed in N.America. They need some Germanic input to get organized, but maybe that disorganization is what makes their charm. Think of the electronics of a 60's Jag or A.M., You were stopped at every corner to fix a wire,... if you could find it. Jag 120, the incredible D & E Types. What a car.

Several years ago I had a 79 308 gtb, similar looking. The 288 looks like a 308 pumped full of steroids. When driving my 308 I was really driving a 288 . I agree with everyone, the best looking car ever designed.

lukas akerlund It's because it has a flat-plane crank, like the Lotus Esprit V8. The more-usual sounding burble you get from a V8 is because it is cross-plane
