BORN FIGHTIN'
My name is James McBride and rm almost nineteen. I sailed away from Derry to follow some dream. I came to Philadelphia with a bible in my hand. And God will be by witness in the promised land.
We were born fightin'
And well die fightin
'Till we belong
'Till we belong
We started pushing south down the wilderness trail. Across the blue ridge mountains and Virginia Plains. With the Shawnee and the Cherokees hiding all around .Left a quarter of our brothers laid beneath the ground.
We were born fightin'
And we will die fightin
'Till we belong
'Till we belong
Near the Shenondoah Valley there's a cabin and a church. We built out of Rowan and the chopped down birch. Now there's an army coming at us with their red coats on. With their sword and their bayonets and their muskets drawn. So we fought like devils and we shouted like hell. And we stood our ground while those redcoats fell. Then we fell to our knees and we buried our dead. For the land of the free that's the price we paid.
We were born fightin'
And we'll die fightin
'Till we belong
We were born fightin'
And we'll die fightin
'Till we belong
'Till we belong
'Till we belong
'Till we belong
'Till we belong
We were born fightin'
We were born fightin'
We were born fightin'
We were born fightin'
Until we belong.
