Yes. I wonder if Jr. could get him to open up about leaving the sport. He came so close to winning the championship and I thought he should have kept racing.

Being from Mississippi, we’ve never had much representation in the sport. As a kid in the 90’s, Lake Speed was my guy. After he retired, we had nobody. Then Ricky exploded on the scene and picked up 2 Xfinity championships. The Daytona win was huge. Guy has achieved more than most in subpar equipment.

I gained respect for Ricky one year in Bristol when he was watching a Tim Dugger concert on a Friday night after the Xfinity race. He was out with the fans while the “big shots” stayed behind a courtesy rope with drivers and wives. Man of the people! 👍🏻👍🏻

I remember that!

Never really cared all that much for Stenhouse, but this was an interesting interview. I like this behind the scenes stuff, it makes the sport interesting.

Ricky has always been one of my favorite drivers.. "class act"

Awesome, Ricky seems like a very humble individual. Great podcast.

Got to watch him race sprint cars locally growing up. It was awesome seeing him win the 500 in person

Guys like this make NASCAR people you don’t really hear about but do so much for the sport. Doing things behind the scenes and grind non stop for the love of racing!

I always liked Ricky Stenhouse Jr even if he did wreck a lot. He always shook that stuff off and showed how driven he is. I appreciate that about anyone and think it’s a great quality to have.

Listen to Dale Jr download every week ! Would really love to hear from Carl Edwards! He’s got to be on top of the list ! Most mysterious retired driver out there! Come Dale make it happen please!

Never had anything against Ricky. Yeah he's torn some stuff up but never ever seemed intentional. Solid plate racer. Seems like a good guy. I was happy to see him win the 500.

He's the biggest wildcard. How good is Ricky Stenhouse? He joined the Roush-Fenway Racing cup team just as it was starting to tank. He's been a JTG-Daugherty, a midfield team since 2020. What could Stenhouse accomplish at HMS, JGR or Team Penske? I wouldn't be surprised to see him go to GHR next year to drive the #4 or the #10. He has sponsors in Sunny D and NOS that'll follow him. As a KHI driver, Harvick can probably get him a few more sponsors. he may even be Busch's next driver.

@@kylefunderburk4194 Completely agree, he's never been in great cup equipment. When he was in the Xfinity series, where Roush was competitive, he won quite a few races still in the era of rampant bushwhacking. Picking an example at random, in the 2012 Atlanta race he won, Brad Keselowski, Kevin Harvick, Kyle Busch and Denny Hamlin, easily 4 future hall of famers, were also racing.

Didn't know much about Ricky Jr but have become a fan over these last (and fast!) few years. Great interview, always love the origin stories,

He really seems like a normal humble dude.

I would love to hear Trevor Bayne's story about how his career was killed by Roush as well. He would be a very interesting interview because that guy has talent also.

​@@derek17005 yeah it was also a reason but I think it was like both at the same time. I think he sat out for some time bc of his health issues but then came back and suddenly it appeared he won't do fulltime bit will be sharing his ride with Kenseth (who was let go by Gibbs)

Hell yea that would be awesome!!!! Would looovvveee to Ricky in a truly competitive ride.

The last race at COTA he finished the race. I did see his car had some damage but he actually finished without crashing into anything.

I think the spark that began the demise of Roush Racing was when Mark Martin left. I think there is was a untold falling out between Mark and Jack. When Matt and Carl left was when it all went downhill. Roush's Xfinity cars were the best at one time. I think Ricky just got caught up in the sinking. Just my opinion.

I wasn't really a fan of his at Riverside or I-30 in his sprintcar days so that carried over to Nascar but lately I've become a fan.

Great watch! As a Roushie boi (As a very good mate of mine calls me) I always wanted Ricky to do well. Just a shame it was such a bad time to drive for the team.

Enjoy learning more about the drivers in transparent conversations host by this show- nice compliment to Kevin Harvick.

I understand hes not the best driver but i am glad that at least in this comment section that he gets some respect. If s driver wrecks a lot but still is a proven winner it just shows that they give 110% at all times. Glad he got the win in the 500.

Always had a urge to pull for Ricky, altho he isn’t the same without the mullet. I’m glad we’ve heard a lot of stories from inside RWR.. it makes me appreciate how much of a battle Bk has ahead.

I believe there could be a whole segment of the Rise and Fall of Roush Racing. Id like to believe it’s back on the up. But idk if we’ll ever see the power house it once was.

I still don't understand why Ricky gets so much hate. He's a good dude.

I just want to see one episode where the dude in the middle has to sit straight up in his chair for an Entire Episode!

Great discussion and insight about a team that was once was and lost their vision. It will be interesting to see how far Brad can move that needle for that particular Ford camp. For Ricky...I don't throw him under the bus as many do...not an easy gig.

So far, Keselowski has had a positive impact on the team. The Ford's as a manufacturer haven't been great at intermediates yet this year. A rising tide lifts all boats, it'll be interesting to see how far RFK Racing rises when Ford starts to catch up.

Like I've said since the 500, Stenhouse needs to hit up SHR cuz there's opportunity if he's not locked down by a Rousch-type organization 🤔

Watched his dad at riverside speedway and Memphis motorsports park in sprint cars years ago..flat out aggressive, to a fault sometimes..same way with jr..he didn't fall far from the tree..lol..proud of him nonetheless for sure!

2011 Edwards and Stewart tied , Stewart won championship. Had 5 wins in the Chase

Crazy how roush had such a big team and it’s all just two cars now and if not for brad it would still be in worse shape

Stuck in the past. Jack doesn’t seem to think you need all the technology all these other teams are using to win. He wants to keep doing things like he did back in the mark Martin days.

I don’t think Brad is any savior to the Roush team and really think they could do much better with someone who still has that aggressive want to win that Brad gave up some time ago.

Yep there was one weekend in 2006 (I think summer Daytona) where Roush fielded 6 Cup cars, 6 Busch cars, 3 trucks, and 2 ARCA cars

I'll never forget Roush parked Stenhouse for crashing too much then rebounds to win back-to-back Xfinity titles

Been down the same road on my contract with them.

You get to see that if you cant win consistently you wont stay heck i remember Daytona on that monday night when Juan Pablo Montoya hit the jet dryer in 2010 Ricky and Danika was hanging on the backstreatch kyle went and took a dump in a porta potty it was my 1st 500

Edwards retired after the 2016 season when NASCAR stole the championship from him. That phantom caution was bullshit. He was comfortably in the lead and would have won easily

it's about god dang time time that Ricky gets his chance to finally being on the podcast took long enough Dale maybe a some point maybe you can get Alex Bowman on there at some point hopefully

Hate that Dale never asked Ricky about the ARCA championship with Scott Speed. Really wanted to hear that story.

"I dont know what happened" Jack said he could not afford to keep fixing the cars after he wrecked them every week. Its the same story that happened in the Nationwide Series. Wrecked a bunch of cars and Jack made him work in the body shop to fix them and share the ride.

The Daytona 500 winner. Stenhouse should had won more races but the decline of Roush Racing hadn't produced that.

Edwards tied Smoke in points in 2011. Kez won the championship in 2012. Edwards left Roush after 2014. C'mon guys, you NASCAR drivers make millions and you can't even remember the years. I remember these things off the top of my head and I don't even race. Therefore I should be making millions driving the car. Put me in coach!

Good kid but he has been lucky to keep getting rides. I mean a driver that may win a race every 3 to 4 years is not really beneficial to a big team. So he fits in where he is at the moment.

You don't have to win races every year to be a respectable driver. Drivers more often wreck than win anyways. Dave Marcis raced in 5 different decades and only won 5 races.

Dave Marcis was a owner driver. His career would of been better if he had the money and resources that other teams had.

I love Jr. but his lack of questions or comments seems telling. He's towing some sort of line and he doesn't normally do that. This seems like one of the few times Jr. withheld his thoughts for reasons that might be "industry politics".

So funny to hear Rickey say JTG has what it takes to win And he won the Daytona 500 It's funny because when preece (a superstar in his own mind) signed with JTG he also said the team had everything needed to win. Preece did NOTHING with JTG in 3 full seasons. Now, after doing NOTHING with SHR, all the preece fans crying that Ryan was in "bad equipment" not Ryan's fault It's never Ryan's fault, it's always someone else's. Disagree??? Tell me then what Preece has done that dozens of other drivers haven't also done above and beyond what Preece has done. I know all about 2 truck wins and 2 xfinity wins Big deal, old news, he's a CUP field filler that Tony got cheap.

I just don’t have the interested with these corporate drivers. I like hearing more from the last generation

I live in Michigan about 30 minutes away from we're Jack Rush has his shop we're they would trick out all of Ford's production car's and I hurd nothing but horror stories from the people that worked there. Even hurd a story don't know if it's true or not but an employee's car had an oil leak and Jack fired him because it leaked on "HIS" parking lot never cared for the man if Mark Martin would have drove for anyone else he probably would have at least one championship.
