    Yes, I would 👍 agree . I grew up a 90s kid, race days at my house or my grandparents house would sometimes resort to tribal warfare. I was the only Gordon fan , my parents were Earnhardt extremists , My grandpa was a Dale Jarrett or any one that drove a Ford & my grandma was a JG fan outta sympathy cuz everyone was constantly busting my chops 😅.

    I admire how honest and straight forward Jr. is with his feelings. Classy guy. As far as Matt is concerned, I remember at the end of three different races, Kasey Kahne (my favorite driver) and Matt battled hard for those wins. Kasey won one of them and Matt won two. They were three of the most entertaining race finales of my memory. They raced each other hard, clean and respectfully. I never felt as if Matt ever used dirty tactics to win.

    He had like 7 or 8 epic battles for the win that should be talked about more. A couple with Kahne, Jimmie, Larson, the Roush Dover finish, the Burton Dover finish, Joey wrecking him at Kansas. He had some exciting wins (and losses), for sure.

    2006, 2011, 2012, 2013, and 2015 were really good as far as general performance goes for him. 20+ top 10s (other than 2012, at 19) and ran up front a lot. 2012 was awesome watching him and Biffle trade the points lead for a while during the first 26. I went to an August race at MIS in 1999 Dale Jarret lead the whole race, I was really there to hang out. I knew basic information at that time. Dale jr. was my guy I mean how could you not love the 8 at that time and super speedway plate racing was awesome back then. I respected Matt for the driver he was and how competitive he raced but he seemed like a dick. I wish I knew Matt was this cool back then. Great stories fellas I really enjoyed it.

    When Matt left Gibbs I was already starting to watch less and less NASCAR and stopped and I just remember thinkin "If this guy cant get a ride this sport is broken" These several years later still feel the same way. Sport is just broken.

  • @jonathonpoloski917

    @jonathonpoloski917

    Жыл бұрын

    The sport is broken, and the sport is manipulating how it really is with getting rid of some grandstands at race tracks to make it seem like the stands are fully packed. Sunday night I went to the quaker state 400, and remember seeing the backstretch and corner grandstands, and seeing them full, not Sunday night though, sure granted a tornado took down those back stretch grandstands but, come on, get em built back up, and up the horsepower on these tracks. I do like the superspeedway style racing, it's cool, competitive, and there's always a chance of a wreck, but it's not Atlanta motor speedway anymore. Sure, change the downforce and the body style of the cars, get them as safe as possible if you need to, but, ramp the engines back up baby. That high pitched, gen 4 sound is what attracted fans. The sport is weird. At its lowest.

    I want to know more on what Dale was talking about. How the car felt like it was bouncing in the middle of Dover race, then go away. How he said, what is this phenomenon. 😂 I want to know now too!

    I can relate to that last comment about having the Yates engine. And how the once perfect Chassis set-ups change. I have found that to be completely true. When you finally get more than enough engine! That once perfect chassis becomes a mess. Requiring lots more work. On low powered race, car, driver could be digital with the throttle . When he has too much even just slightly too much engine, he becomes greedy and no matter what you do the car is a loose Off !

    Simply facts and data shows Matt was better and Jr had the name. Matt was a class driver and was a very quite type of person but had more success than Jr ever did.

    Man… all the Roush drivers back then. Hard to pick a favorite. Probably Mark but man they were all good. Biffle was probably the best wheel man in NASCAR. I remember he had a car so bad it looked like he was drifting every corner, you could see him saw the wheel in the car. Carl had a drive to win like no other. Matt he was just a drivers driver. Burton he was just fast everywhere. I miss those days.

    Would be great to see Matt run down in the Cars series and whatnot down south. Hes a hell of a late model driver and still winning races up north and Matts home track, Slinger, is a super fast short track that is very tough. I haven't been there but my home track is Anderson Speedway and theyre very similar. They actually both claim to be the fastest high banked 1/4 miles. In his own car or a JRM late model, Kenseth can win every time out. It would be awesome for Matt to run one of the Xfinity cars. Im sure he'd run up front consistently

    Not true. He even said himself, the way they're on top of those super lates, theres some really good every Sunday drivers at Slinger he'd have trouble beating regularly at that track Habit is everything and he doesn't race like he used too
