Hi, I have paid attention to the lyrics, and I really don't know what he meant, but I understand that he can talk about a relationship (or his relationship) How It can be neglected, even though the people are there by our side, we don't recognize each other, we don't connect, we don't look at each other or feel... @@Darmstadtiensis The album consistently revisits the idea of someone drowning as a metaphor for depression (Far from the Harbor Wall, Drowning, Along the Shoreline, the album cover). In this song, the narrator (Rick Wright) reaches out to the drowning person (his wife Millie) and grabs her hand. "I stretch out my hand to reach you." "If you still know me then touch my fingertips." "I feel your naked hand, please don't let go again" As for the title: Blue is probably a reference to water but it could be a reference to 'feeling blue'. I'm not sure about Venice, but if you search up images of Venice you can see that most of it is built along the shoreline, giving off the appearance of the city being flooded.
