You’ll start to recognize that this show has the tendency to throw/touch on some deeper subjects. It’s ability to pull that off while keeping most episodes comical is amazing in my opinion

Honestly I have a hard time taking their "emotional" moments seriously when the whole basis of the show is founded on torturing morty for laughs. You cant play suffering for laughs and then expect people to take it seriously 5 minutes later. Who cares if rick is sad beacuse he pushes people away? hes a genocidal sociopath and sillly. His weird convoluted suicide attempt is just another silly joke to me even if dan harmon thinks its some epic emotional moment
@JohnnyPeet
2 жыл бұрын
@@nullakjg767 It’s based around the concept that Rick is the smartest man in every conceivable universe. This causes him to be nihilistic at times, which results in a normal human like morty to put up with this general belief on life that nothing matters. Torturing Morty is primarily a device to add some humor into the show. And sure, there are emotional moments, but that only contributes to the story and what is canon. Watch through to the newest season and this helps understanding why they incorporate these moments.

@@JohnnyPeet lol rick isnt smart. all his intelligence comes from mega seeds. Hes what dumb people think a smart person is like.

@@nullakjg767 That's still just fan theory. Obviously, he'd still have to be smart enough to build a portal gun in the first place before he can even get to the mega seeds.
I think this is the first time in the show where Rick shows vulnerability, really starts to build his character here.
Because of personal life stuff, the end of this episode absolutely destroys me. Wayyyy too close to home. I cry like a small child every time. Definitely a top 5 episode, for me.

Same here. I was torn in my interpretation of it though. If he actually tried to kill himself or the contraption would have him feel the agony of death that the little fellow he fried felt in its last moment. You know, a sensation so powerful that it might be felt by someone in his state, being so numb to everything that real pain is the only thing you can feel. Hope you feel better now.
@JamUsagi

@@donkfail1 iirc according to one of the creators, that chemical he drank was supposed to sync himself up with all alternate Ricks, so he could kill them all and himself in one fell swoop.
Rick was drunk so he passed out before the beam could hit him, he would've been decelerated
@StarkRG

Decelerated? How fast was he going?
Yep, the end of this one got to me. According to the commentary, Rick tried to kill himself permanently, across the entire multi verse. So, it wasn't an empty gesture. He passed out before completion. Damn

Fate is a crazy beast.
Rick and Morty episodes occasionally contain the unexpected emotional gut-punch that takes you by surprise and leaves with that feeling of - fuuuuuuuck man, what the hell ???!!! Those are usually the best episodes !!
One of the moments that this show gets real deep at one point. There’s a moment in season 5 with Morty, and man did it rip my heart out.
I hope you enjoyed: “Rick is sad because he’s too much of an ashole for other people to be around and you need to feel sad for him too” because this show uses it literally every time they want to get “serious and emotional.” And as the after credits scene emphasizes: Don’t feel bad for the ashole. They do it to themselves.

Yeah, Rick is supposed to be a cautionary tale. His flaws are the basis of his character. Feeling bad for him isn't the point, learning how to not be like him is.
This show delivers such unexpected emotion when it wants to which isn't very often but each time hits like a ton of bricks
This is one of the most underrated and important episodes to understanding Rick. He's become so much that even an entire planet of billions of combined minds can't keep up with him. He's so alone, nobody can understand him.
Rick drinks the same concoction he used to animate the little sludgy monster thing before placing him up to get zapped. He then replaced the bulb in the machine, which shattered after the charge went out, placed his head between the diodes and just before the sequence could go off again he passed out on the table. This scene always hits hard for me cause I've been there. I know that pain. I don't know if this was also around the time Dan Harmon was in the midst of getting divorced or not but that could also explain some of the tone in this episode.
Speaking of feet, I loveeee the episode 💀🔥
Such a cute little sneeze. At least you don't hold them back and risk popping your eyeballs out of the sockets.
This is definitely one of the best episodes of R&M. Both extremely humorous and gives insight into Rick's torment.
Rick was trying to kill himself, but he lowered his head just before the laser deteriorated him. Didn’t you recognize Beta-7’s voice actor? I immediately recognized Patton Oswald‘s voice

He didn't lower his head, he passed out. He was fully intending to kill himself, but his destructive tendencies (alcoholism) saved him.

@@CybrSlydr Interesting. I always assumed he lowered his head and basically sobbed himself to sleep, but it seems him passing out is likely the real ending. I see some saying writer's confirmed it, just haven't found the quote itself. Makes it even sadder.

@@UCFJayBird I looked for writer's confirmation as well, but haven't been able to find it yet either. I've also read theories that the creature he killed may have been his and Unity's offspring that he was trying to fix or cure with the Korblock he had tied up in the garage vault. Realizing that he and Unity were finally done, he killed it as a test of the machine before using it on himself. Also possibly a kronenberg from the world he messed up he was trying to return to normal.
I hope I can survive the torture of waiting 24hrs to see this lol, your content are always amazing can't wait to see more
Mmm the feet reveal🤭
Ricky is like me suffering from being alone I don't have the courage has Ricky
Really enjoying you’re continuing to do these. I hope you make it to the season 5 finale.
The ending to this ep always made me cry.
Get ready for feels. This episode hits hard.
15:29 that why i think the show is so good, it pulls fast ones on the audience & its epic, hilarious, heartwarming all in one imo
This was the best of the show so far it spoke to me and helped me with my depression. Love your reaction
Rick and Morty has a unique way of getting you in your feels! Can’t wait for more reactions! 🔥💯
I know this reactions old, but the reason jerry was acting different in this episode (more assertive, talking differently) its because its a different jerry now after the jerry daycare episode
I have the entire Firefly series & movie but have never watched it - they are still in the plastic rap and I have had them for YEARS LOL

I love you content kazzy👍🏽
Thank you, Kazzy! 🌌
The ending song made the scene more impact full I had to download it after hearing it the first time.
One of my favourite episodes
Rick & Morty are always hillarious and f...g mindblowing savage 😂😂😂😂 hugs lysm Kazzy💗🤓👋🏻👋🏻
Thanks for the video. I enjoyed it.
Interesting fact about the ray that Rick almost disintegrated himself with, it would have destroyed ever other Rick, EVER. That makes it so much more heartbreaking that he just didn't care about literally anything at that point. Then the next scene, the post credits one, he's all up in arms. 😂
So what happened is that rick tried to kill himself but failed as he passed out from being drunk before the device went off. Fun fact about that device: it supposedly kills *EVERY* rick across all timelines.
Rick having fun with a hive mind was pretty crazy right Kazzy? Also the ending was morbid and sad with Rick trying to kill himself. A race war over different nipples yeah that happened. Also Blim Blam was talking the truth about Jerry and Beth's relationship. Good reaction Kazzy.😃✌️
There is a theory that the small creature he brought to life then destroyed, was in fact , Unity and Rick's offspring.
"I know you love to see me squir".... YESSS...."squirm"....ah yeah that too.
It's just not a Race War unless the first guy involved runs through the street shouting RACE WAAAAAAAR!
Hey Kazzy hope you have an great and awesome day 😀. Much ❤
I'm reading that book "Dune"
Christina Hendricks was also in Mad Men and Good Girls.
The ending of this one was so dark. There are a lot of dark moments but this one got me.
It has been said that the little critter Rick kills is a frozen Cronenberg from episode 6. Destroying it meant that he was giving up trying to fix what he did there. Odd how other versions of him were able to, but Rick C-137, the one who says he can do anything, can't. Despite his apparent ego, he is still a flawed individual. As is every other member of the Smith family. And that is what makes them interesting, I think. Firefly never got a fair shake on TV. Fillion is great, but I think the whole cast is superb. Rarely does everything come together so well, cast, writing, the whole shebang. At least the story continues in the comics.
This woman has the loveliest voice and laugh and shit
Clearly in his depressed state he drank way too much and passed out just before his device could disintegrate him, such a shame. As for the emotional, this show will lead you down every path to every emotion because no matter how idiotic it gets it's extremely intelligently written.
Happy when I saw you dropped a new ep. Then I remembered how this one ends :'( lol
I subbed to Patreon, but really don’t have time to fully watch a whole show again, I’d love for your firefly reaction to be released here.
Great reaction!
FEEEEET 👃😤
I hope you're planning on showing us the Firefly reaction. That's one of my favs.
This ones a classic.

This episode is pretty good. And crazy.
Oh, you need to expect dark and sad stuff in Rick and Morty!
Yup Rick tried to end it. He killed the alien thing first to test if it works probably. But it was more for us viewers to know what hes doing since hes not using any method we're familiar with.
Rick's alcoholism literally saved his life in this one - he passed out before he could commit the ultimate self-harm. This show is hilarious, but it's also deeply dark and disturbing at times. This is one of those times.
KAZZY!
Can someone tell me the name of the song that plays at the end of her videos, not the show, the one that ends her video.

Dan Harmon was dealing with divorce around this time so it got in the storyline with Beth and Jerry.. 🙈 I ❤ Firefly! Nathan Fillion is voice actor in one of the episodes.🤘
I do believe our ol chap mr sanchez has a case of the bi polar. He rides some high highs, but sometimes we see some low lows.
Yo Kazzy, be cognizant of the bottom of the screen when you're editing. (psst the intro.)
The other hive mind was voiced by Patton Oswalt. If you haven't, check out his stand-up comedy. He's nerdy and hilarious.
0:57 Hey, Kazzy, can I call you Vera?
Figured I'd comment on my account more. Talk about nonstop orgies, huh? Rick knows how to party Lol. 😜 Seriously, I love this show and seeing others react to it's craziness even when it gets real. Got a long road ahead of you Kazzy. I know you can do it tho. Can't wait to see more. Love your outfits btw 💙😎
Expect the unexpected with this show. Definitely not going to be all wacky. Prepare for twists and turns
I am unsure where to post requests but I think you would like the series "arcane" on Netflix
The song that was playing while he was trying to kill himself is great.
Welcome to Unity. A hivemind
So you love Nathan Fillion lol. He does eventually do a voice in this show.

The greenish yellow serum that Rick took synchronized all Ricks, so he wasn’t just getting drunker, he was trying to kill ALL Ricks. And for those of you that know the later seasons you’ll know a facet as to why.

That was stated by someone on the crew, but it doesn't particularly make sense and the person who stated it didn't actually have anything to do with this episode. I don't believe it to be the case.
No after credits?
After Rick and Morty you should watch Inside Job. New on Netflix since October 22. Or Harley Quinn the animated series if you like DC.
Why does the video keep cutting in and out?
Ah, the downer ending
Merci.
Oh yeah, get ready for some SAD endings. R&M doesn’t pull its punches when it comes to trying to fully round out the characters. That’s a big part of the appeal for me, you never really know how each episode will end. And for a silly cartoon it really makes you think and feel something existentially...
The people want to see soles
"Looossseeerrr."
Was I the only one who didn't notice the outfit change at all until she mentioned it? lol
Question, are you going to watch any more horror movies besides IT? And if so, could you please watch Willy's Wonderland if you haven't seen it already?
I guess for some species, it's better to be assimilated than to have free will

Omg that was funny but it was disgusting when everyone was throwing up and omg and they were fighting out of nowhere that was pretty sad when a little alien and rick killed it 😧😧😧 that was a sad ending 🥺
Rick tried to kill himself. The only reason he failed was because he was too drunk to stay awake.
