Warming up on the set of my DVD "All About The Groove"
This was shot some years ago at the new (then) DW soundstage facility. The DVD is really a great package .... I'm excited.
Killer sound, Killer camera work and lighting and a Killer rhythm section...
stay tuned and enjoy....

MAN. Setups don't get much more 80's than this anymore.
One helluva musician and so definitely underrated. I would assume Rick Latham doesn’t care about ranking and notoriety - I see a very accomplished and confident drummer doing what obviously he loves. Thanks for sharing this video Rick... always appreciated your playing...
I’ve never heard DW’s sound this good before
So smooth, so legato. Love it!
What a great clip. Perfect playing.....great drum sound....
Killer groove - execution - precision - subsitution - you got it all man - loved ya since the 80s when I first saw you play.

My teacher used this book with me for years in the mid 80s. Loved working on the solos at the end of the book.

his bass sounds awesome any tips on how to get my drum to sound like that???
really like those bass drum/tom fills, is he just playing RLF RLF? or something more fancy?
really nice Rick!! sick chops, and tight grooving as always., u r tha man!
Rick, I love your set up with the small tom...I am changing my kit to reflect this set up.How do you not hit your left thigh with your hand playing traditional grip. I am tall as well and my leg always hits my left hand, does not matter how I adjust my seat either....thanks...
i love those tom of yours rick and nice groove by the way even though your just warming up hehe. what heads are those on the toms?
This cat is SERIOUS!
Hi Rick, please its a possible to buy this snare drum, which you use on this DVD ? Or i muss call to DW to make a custom snare ? And please which color or type of laquer ist this set ? Thanks a lot :)
Super
is the pattern something like FT BB S S (S) S in 16th note triplets, so that the base drum double is in 32th note triplets? sounds awesome by the way :D
Does your right arm not start to ache if you play a lot of bell on the ride, with your cymbal that high?
The funkmaster at it´s best...
hey, could someone tell me how the fill at 1.25 goes? :)
Hey Rick......Damn....you been passing the peas and keeping the biscuits....we both gots to get back in the gym........But whatever we do.....it's gots to be funky.....now pass the peas please.......and the biscuits.....LOL
Hey dude, you play very nice, congratulations and greetings from Argentina!
i play a very hard solo of him... its hard man^^
Alter Wie kann der sowas ohne dubble base spielen?!? Der typ is soo hammer!!
gotta love the single pedal work, i do that myself, i've worked up my "John Bonham" doubles heaps, if you want practice just play along to good times bad times. And then piss off your band by just incorporating in to everything for the next month. How i got decent at it.
OOPS! I meant to say "simply CANNOT be done with one foot. PERIOD!
Just warming up u know..
lol this is like the love child of gadd and weckl
hey Rick let me build more pedels you can break like your style on the drums
He should change his cymbals. All of them.
@JustSomeGuy83 Can't get into the groove without the left leg moving mate. There's no way the hats can open and close at that rate, without his hands doing anything to activate the change. Watch his hats. They're opening and closing.
all that with a strait face...
he is actualy using two pedals ;)

STAL KER no he’s not.
@theMASdrummer He's really good, the kit is good but he lake it sounds good i am a drummer and i know how hard it is so done't say that again!
Double Pedal in my eyes is for lazy people! Oh and by the way this video...incredible!

Not really, different music styles require it, and you need to train your left leg. Doesnt instantly grant speed.
I really hate double bass drum. It makes fills to sound just flat.

Well if you have had read the text on screen you would have read following: "Rick uses only a single DW 5000 foot pedal" Soooo no double bass drum, only skill... joke`s on you I guess
"...uses only a single pedal": yeah but he plays it with his foot and freakin wang... gotta go study this vid for the next 72 hours without sleeping
haircut
No double pedal in this video, bro. Just Rick's ball bearing ankle at work! As far as double pedals being for lazy people, I'd tap the brakes on that one, my man. With the exception of the likes of Rick Latham, single pedals are for lazy feet because single pedal player's left foot is typically too weak to even think about being able to play a double pedal. Not to mention that there are MANY things you can play with double pedals that just simply can be done with one foot. PERIOD!
hes not that good guys its his drums that make him sound good
UHM...PENSAVO TU FOSSI CHISSà CHI ALLA BATTERIA ,ED INVECE SEI UNO COME GLI ALTRI 200MILIONI PSEUDOBATTERISTI DA BAR DI LUNEDì POMERIGGIO...UN CONSIGLIO :SE DOVESSI RINASCERE IMPARA IL FLAUTO TRAVERSO...
肥り過ぎ❗でも上手い🤔
Amazing, super nice grooves but dare I say...boring. I just like a lot of movement I guess, each to there own. But saying that, I wish I could play that well and make it look so easy.
hey, could someone tell me how the fill at 1.25 goes? :)
