Rick Latham Warming Up!

Музыка

Warming up on the set of my DVD "All About The Groove"
This was shot some years ago at the new (then) DW soundstage facility. The DVD is really a great package .... I'm excited.
Killer sound, Killer camera work and lighting and a Killer rhythm section...
stay tuned and enjoy....

One helluva musician and so definitely underrated. I would assume Rick Latham doesn’t care about ranking and notoriety - I see a very accomplished and confident drummer doing what obviously he loves. Thanks for sharing this video Rick... always appreciated your playing...

Rick, I love your set up with the small tom...I am changing my kit to reflect this set up.How do you not hit your left thigh with your hand playing traditional grip. I am tall as well and my leg always hits my left hand, does not matter how I adjust my seat either....thanks...

is the pattern something like FT BB S S (S) S in 16th note triplets, so that the base drum double is in 32th note triplets? sounds awesome by the way :D

gotta love the single pedal work, i do that myself, i've worked up my "John Bonham" doubles heaps, if you want practice just play along to good times bad times. And then piss off your band by just incorporating in to everything for the next month. How i got decent at it.

@JustSomeGuy83 Can't get into the groove without the left leg moving mate. There's no way the hats can open and close at that rate, without his hands doing anything to activate the change. Watch his hats. They're opening and closing.

Not really, different music styles require it, and you need to train your left leg. Doesnt instantly grant speed.

No double pedal in this video, bro. Just Rick's ball bearing ankle at work! As far as double pedals being for lazy people, I'd tap the brakes on that one, my man. With the exception of the likes of Rick Latham, single pedals are for lazy feet because single pedal player's left foot is typically too weak to even think about being able to play a double pedal. Not to mention that there are MANY things you can play with double pedals that just simply can be done with one foot. PERIOD!
