It was simply survival at that point and it was gonna be him and not Shane no matter what, just like the guys Rick, Glenn, and Herschel met at the bar when Herschel drank earlier in season 2. I see what you mean though, ideally they both have the same results but just that Shane wasn't trying to teach Rick anything, he just took him out there to kill him so he could keep Lori and Carl to himself.

Fucking loved this season, especially this scene. Rick was so savage, had to save his family but you could clearly see half the group not liking what they had to do to protect themselves.. terminus were "devils rejects" but worse. Someone had to step up and I'd imagine it ain't easy to come to the reality that you have to be apart of a group that will brutally kill to survive. Fuck amazing season and show.

Currently rewatching Season 2. Always going to be one of my favorite shows of all time.

Im late for realizing this. In the last scene of this clip, Rick is literally saying what Shane was saying in season 2 on the farm when he was about to open the barn filled with walkers and Sophia. Crazy how Rick at the end of seaon 2 said Shane had become unhinged and crazy. Yet, here he is saying the same shit Shane said. Poor Shane adapted to the world too damn quick and fell madly in love with the wrong woman. 😢

6:52- 8:13 Best scene of Rick EVER. He had Carl's, Michonne's and Daryl's lives at stake. They were all about to die and carl and michonne would be sexually assaulted. While the claimers were almost about to end their lives, Rick made a split second decision and bit into Joe's throat out of desperation, shocking the claimers. Michonne seized the opportunity to immediately shoot Tony with his gun, then another claimer. Daryl took out another claimer and finally it was only Dan left standing. Rick gets up and takes Joe's knife, "He's mine" he says. He steps forward instilling fear into Dan, Dan gets disemboweled by being brutally being stabbed by rick multiple times.

Shane knew that killing Otis was a mistake. He tried to do something he himself didn't believe was right, so he hesitated. Rick came back and affirmed that, giving him a chance, but he didn't seize it and hesitated. Rick decided to end him.

Fuck the "I lied" sounds so much like negan, why did they have to nerf Rick he was a one man army. (I understand that it follows the comics so certain things like glenn had to happen but newer characters could've taken fan favorites place like they did with other side characters, but then again it wouldn't be as meaningful or impactful not to say that new characters didn't take up the mantel perfectly in other dark ways.) Sorry for the rant.
