It was the year 1988-1989 ... I really love this song. It reminds me of my childhood, my mom, my dad, my brothers, my aunts, my house, my dog, family parties on Saturday nights, and Sunday meals. They were such happy days when my only concern was to paint my drawings without getting out of line. Thank you very much Mr. Astley for making my childhood such happy days.

I am apparently your age. My 7th grade year was 88/89 and it's all still so meaningful to me. I absolutely love the way you worded your message. It just strikes a chord in me, there is nothing like this kind of song, filled with so much "yesteryear". Nostalgia runs high when these type of songs play. I look-back upon that time period so fondly, and I'm glad to be Generation X. Very glad to have grown up in that time period. Thank you for a great comment!

I love this song. I have no idea how I missed this song until today when Rick Astley was on Kelly Clarkson's show. I just played it about 20 times. This is one of my all-time favorite songs already.

Wow what a voice for a 23 yr old. Talent beyond his years!

I truly believe in my heart that "It Would Take a Strong, Strong Man" was the classiest single record released in the 80s. That vocal performance coupled with that amazing guitar bit after the bridge and those backing vocals. An all-around flawless recording.

This sounds like a Motown song recorded in the late 80s by a young man from England with a soulful voice.

It should be a crime to have a song this good be this underrated.

Rick Astley is the genuine true blue ultimate unique mega voice of phenomenal talent. He was a kid when he originally sang this song & he has only become better. This man has a voice that is a force to be recond with....& he is kind, giving, talented & a great husband & dad. Amazing!!! & soooo much happiness & fun. One of the best songs of the 80's. Rick is such an underrated singer. Oh and, BTW that's Boy George singing back up.

Decades have passed yet the song remains timeless.

Only one thing, you still have that wonderful voice that I heard in your beginning. Rick boy I will always love your music.

How could "Never Gonna Give You Up" have a billion views, "Together Forever" have 136 million, and this gem have less than 500,000? Of all his songs this was the best!

In his songs, he sounds sincere. That's a huge part of his appeal. Many guys will talk the talk never walk the walk. Just saying everything never meaning anything. The world needs more sincerity.

Whenever my heart breaks, i would listen to this song to know that I am worthy to be treated better.

He has a cool 'dude' voice.

I love this song. I saw the story where the writers composed this song to appeal to the US audience. It’s amazing what lengths the UK songwriters and producers went to just to captivate us out here. Still, I’m grateful for this. It’s probably my favorite song of his. Then Together Forever is my next favorite after this one.

On vacation from work and listening to some old freestyle. Rick is an amazing singer and we hope he is doing well. No one had such a strong voice like his.

I'm crying... wonderfully nostalgic. When this song was released, I was a university student, enjoying my youth while wondering about the future. The 1980s was the best time for music.
