Not only was it aired on April Fools Day, but there was no warning other than Dan Harmon replying to one guy on twitter with "What if I waved a magic wand and made the first episode of season 3 premiere tonight is that what you'd want"

It also aired the same day episode 4 of Samurai Jack's 5th season was scheduled to premiere. Rick and Morty completely took over that time slot and pushed Samurai Jack back a week. The reaction from Samurai Jack fans started out as outrage but eventually lead to some great crossover fan art. In a way, it tied the two shows together in a way the creators never could have anticipated.

Yes. It is full of all the action but it wraps up everything from season 2 so well that I am honestly wondering why he took it so seriously. He could have snapped his finger and killed everyone.

I think if any Rick's wife was alive it was probably Simple Rick, but then again we never got an actual confirmation. But yea her death might be vital to Rick's finding of the portal gun.

I've always had my own secret theory -- what if 'Diane' somehow is behind the federation/bugs, like an anonymous benefactor/ruler... and the whole reason is because she wants to get back at Rick for breaking her heart

During the Rick and Morty panel at Comic Con for season 3 Dan Harmon and Justin Horowitz said that the real reason Rick looked like he was down at the end of the last episode was actually because he knew that he would have to do all the work of taking down the galactic government and getting Jerry essentially kicked out of the family. Also I tried that sauce and it’s actually just fine. But the show did force the hand of McDonald’s so that is really saying something.
