This shows how rare and special our Rick is. Just like Simple Rick was treated like a delicacy, our Rick also chose Family over Science. He just didn’t get the chance to live it out. The music with this story tells it beautifully. Amazing finale

Yes. We also see a flashback of Rick seeing Morty grow up back in season 1 so that means the morty he has right now and the family he chose to settle in isn't his first either (they did kronenberg the world but my point still stands).

Chances are that in another season (if there gonna be one) Weird Rick would appear at some point. You know, chances are that C-137, as the smartest of Ricks, was the only one capable of creating the idea of the Citadel, and creating Central Finite Curve, which Weird Rick was probably intended to use for his own goals (this can be one reason why he dropped that bomb which killed Diane and Beth, he just wanted to set the events in motion). But since Citadel is gone, and Curve is breached by Evil Morty, his plan cannot be done, so either he'll want to get his revenge on him (since Evil Morty is way beyond his grasp), or use C-137 to start again. I also think that Weird Rick was basically the same entity like Evil Morty, but for Ricks. He escaped his dimension where he was an underdog, and tried to secure those parts of the multiverse he's smartest man in the universe, but was unable to do this on his own. So Ricks are part of some previous cycle, while Evil Morty started the one for Mortys.

this is when the show really shines, it supposed to be just fun adventures, but the writing on the main stories are just the best. I dont understand why they are so pissed off about it. The last two seasons were kind of lame im comparision with the first ones, and even with different adventures, they were kind of related to one another

If they really want Rick and Morty to go on for 9 seasons then completly random episodes for that long is a bad idea. Completly unrelated episodes only lasts for this long until there is nothing new and fresh to tell about the characters. And they are no stranger to showing character development, having things last from other episodes and sometimes even referring to them so I really don’t get what they are so pissed about.

This is a pretty standard format for TV shows though. You have your overarching plot that you break up and scatter between the "monster of the week" episodes to fill it out and give some suspense. See also, the X-Files, Supernatural, Fringe, it's a pretty common structure Otherwise you get shit like the Walking Dead where you're desperately trying to stretch out every plot point to make the seasons long enough

Weird to think Rick is the only permanent part of the story, the family isn't the original family, Rick's Beth has been dead for ages and Morty isn't even Rick's first Morty

Our Morty is Rick's Morty, he never had one in the first place, coz Beth died as a kid, so Morty was never born.

My theory is that this central finite curve is not the only one, that it isn’t even the one to hold all the smartest ricks and that this will be the plot of the next season

no one said it holds the "smartest ricks", the CFC is to keep all the ricks that are "smartest in their respective universe". meaning there deff could be a universe where rick is even smarter than our rick and in that same universe, this rick isn't even the smartest creature. the possibilities are infinite

here is my theory: Killer Rick has 9 slots in his portal gun and when Evil Morty gets away from the Finite curve he goes throught 9 layers, so i guess Evil Rick is so smart he can travel beyond the known universe?

One thing has always bothered me about this flashback: He is the Rickest Rick who ever Ricked, but he couldn't come up with a more effective way to find the Rick who killed his wife than to manually hunt them down one by one and comparing them to a photo?

Seriously, he can build something that creates a photo from a memory years ago, that can recognise the miniscule differences between two interimensional copies of himself, but he can't come up with a device that can scan the multiverse and lock on to the same individual? Would the Morty frequency interfere with the scan? Would it take too long to scan every single universe?

Rick's backstory was actually meant to be pieced together, the amount of new info this scene held was minimal, most pieces of rick's backstory were already somewhat present during various seasons. For example 90% of the Rick Prime ordeal was just handfed to people with one minor tweak. The Bird Person parts were given to us just in Season 5. The part about Rick founding the citadel could have been given without that scene. Rick's life also has so much more to explore this is barely anything.

Well you don't want to blow your load too early and have the audience completely lose interest, and you don't want to lock yourself into a storyline that might not fill a whole season on its own Better to sprinkle it throughout other adventures to keep things fresh

Well, it was finally revealed that the Rick who killed Rick C-137’s family is the original Rick, who we call “Rick Prime”. Rick Prime was confirmed to be the biological grandfather of our Morty, which makes him Morty Prime. Rick filled in the gap for our Morty’s Rick, as Rick Prime completely abandoned his universe.

I just realized.. Morty downloaded Rick's brain to his.. He has his knowledge now

Funny how my friend had his own headcannon that Rick origin was like an enigma and didn't fully buy the first flashback we saw of his origin (his wife and her beth killed by a bomb)! Granted he said he was ok with this canon origin story now!

Something great to take from this, is why Rick Prime is the Rickest Rick. He most likely jumped galaxies outside of the central finite curve, as it was seemingly created after our Ricks outburst. So before that, and probably even after, Rick Prime did not live in a world where the average Rick was considered the Apex of their respective universes, growing to further heights by dealing with thinks that are beyond his comprehension. At least that's my headcanon

What if, the one that actually leaves beth and never comeback for 20 years is actually the rick that our rick tried to find?

I believe that in order for Rick to become ... Rick. Loosing his daughter is inevitable that's why I believe all beths are clones. Except for the original rick who threw the bomb I believe he never had any kid that's why he was desensitized about everything. Just like Dr Strange and Christine, Beth death is an absolute point in Space and time

crazy feeling i get after watching the show so long I tried to understand the chronological order of things on my own but this was brutal.. 3:02 is this Beth the one that got left in the Chronenberg world? if so, where did the Rick originally in the Chronenberg world go? Could he be the one that C-137 Rick has been looking for?

It just occurred to me that Rick C-137 never had a Beth to walk out on because his version was killed before she even grew up. The Smiths, to him, are essentially strangers He basically took the blame for what another Rick did to have some semblance of the family that got taken away from him.

I like how Rick and the fans all wanted a funny silu simple show with no backstories to how the characters ended up as they are now and yet life catches up to everyone. He can't escape the episodic life nor his past and even sees it as a bad thing even tho it really isn't. Seems like the fans dislike this backstory like Rick but I think it shows how broken he is. He just wanted a simple life but because he can't have it he hides his pain, takes it out on others, literally makes himself god just to be always at an advantage and yet he just wanted a simple life.

I mean you could argue that they expected Rick to have forseen ranged attacks. So maybe they thought that close range waves would seal the deal especially since Rick was a broken man. Something like a "If we get close He can't blow us up because he would also die" scenario. Oh and btw, don't forget the Phoenix protocal. Back-up bodies everywhere so nothing to lose maybe.

Pain

Just a theory, maybe Rick altered his memory of his family being dead only to actually have a fight with his wife which led to a divorce. Than the rest of his memory is just self loathing by killing numerous versions of himself rather than admit his faults. All this just to act like that he’s the victim.

It doesn't matter because after the scene collapses and they're still in the diner, that agent thinks it was fake, and besides even if he knew it was real, he's not going anywhere anyway and will die in Rick's old body as Rick saunters off in his.
