What i love about this episode is that it comes full circle from the end of last season rick opened himself up to morty to the extent of sharing his entire life story with him, and then morty kept giving rick a hard time most this season, especially last couple episodes, as he is trying to heal and be a better grampa. thats why when he blew up on morty this episode, he goes off how he feels backstabbed, how when you let someone in they eventually turn on you and kill your family basicly he's turning his internal pain from revisiting and tackling his quest for rick prime, against morty, conflaiting that traumatic experience of losing his family to someone with his face, to people betraying him, like when he reacted to bird person not wanting to stay hin their war glory years together, or how Unity dumped him. he handles abandonment and betrayal so poorly because he's constantly afraid of people like rick prime,, a genius with his face who murdered his family, simply because he wouldnt take up his offer.

This season was great! The fact that Rick turned himself into a robot does not mean that he canceled the development of his personality, on the contrary, Rick was really hurt by Morty so is saying "Fuck! If I'm not good enough, I'll create a robot that will treat him well enough" and in that time he has time to find the son of a bitch who killed his family

  • @busiestytnerd5175

I think the real reason they delayed Rick Prime is because writing and animating those episodes is going to be really tough in order to make it good, so I'm glad they're taking their time on it since we all have the highest expectations for it. At the end of the episode, Rick, and therefore the creators, said "it's my biggest pain" or whatever, because of what i mentioned above.

The Rick-bot's speech at the end reminds of a line from Watchmen, when Laurie wonders if Dr Manhattan cares about her or is just faking it - "if he's pretending, it means he cares". Rick might not be able to show he cares like the Rick-bot did, but if he truly didn't care he'd never have built it and programmed it to love his family.

This Christmas episode title of Rick and Morty is reference to National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation (1989) and it's from Warner Bros. Pictures. Also, this Rick and Morty Christmas episode is a whole Star Wars reference including Obi-Wan Kenobi's blue lightsaber from Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope (1977). I know I'm late to the party finding your channel. But I'm subscribing for the simple fact that you took the time to explain that as we get older, we should be supportive of newer and younger fans. To claim that something is trash just because you don't like certain things about it only sours the relationship those newer people have with the overall fanbase. I have this experience often with the DBZ fanbase. When Toriyama-Sensei passed, I texted my brother to let him know. He responded, "At least there won't be any more crappy transformations". I totally understand his frustration and what specifically they are, but we grew up on that show, coming home after school to watch it on the blank video we set to record the episodes so we never missed them. Now he's moved on and I'm still a huge DBZ nerd. Oh well, I'll have kids one day and then I can nerd out all over again!🤷🏽

People should, but the thing is there is a difference between critiquing things, and just complaining and yelling. And then on top of that, how often do you find arguments and videos of people getting mad at others for enjoying the Sequels? Can still find old forum posts of people doing that to those who liked the prequels? Talking about something your like and dislike is fine, but need to just let people enjoy what they like, and understand the difference between critiquing and just disliking something. Plus add how often arguments are "i disliked x thing in x film" and then someone proves they just didn't understand it, and they instead of admitting they were wrong, they move the goal post of why they disliked it. You can just dislike something. No need to invent reasons. No need to try and ruin it for others. Thats i feel the important thing. Many fandoms, especially SW dont wanna critique things, they just wanna complain and for everyone to dislike the same things they do, and we dont need more of that

@@MellyMelon1331 A bit of a tangent but I personally rarely find any "you just didn't understand it" argument compelling. It's really less about creating a counter to the critique and more of trying to feel superior for liking a film. "To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to..." you know the meme. I remember seeing it most with BvS's Martha scene; and honestly the concept is really not that hard to understand. It just wasn't that interesting.

@@Amadeus_A Oh i agree there, kinda. When people get all snobby for your not understanding something or missing something. I more mean when its a case of "i disliked a x thing, in x film" and someone explains how they are wrong in a case of maybe they just misremembered, forgot, or didn't pay attention, and instead of owning up and going "You know i was wrong" and either changing their mind or just admit they just disliked it, they instead move the goalpost like "well x is still bad, so the movie still sucks". Like when something is explained in a film, and people complain it never gets explained, so someone points out the scene where that does happen, and instead people just invent a new issue. Rinse repeat. Cases like that. Can just admit you dislike something and thats ok. Dont need more than that to justify why you dislike something, but no reason to try and ruin it for others based on you not remembering or getting something from a film

About the Yoda being a puppet thing, I can think of two demographic reasons why the fandom doesn't have a lot of first-film-only types who might make such complaints. First, they would tend to be older, people who were teenage or young adult when the first movie came out, who'd now be into their sixties and people of that age were born too early for the idea of clinging onto 'childish' interests and fandoms into adulthood. But secondarily, if you only liked the first film then you aren't a fan of the series, you're a fan of one film which you might rewatch from time to time, but you aren't going to watch new releases or get involved in discussions. You have to like at least two entries in a series to consider it a setting that you care about and are a fan of, I think. My understanding has always been that Star Wars was truly latched onto by those born a little too late to see the films in cinemas, that the cohort who watched all 3 back to back when they were small concluded that ESB was the best, went on to create and consume the pre-1999 EU, and then were the main source of anti-prequel feeling. As a child of the 90s, I know that I thought the Prequels were pretty good right up until I got online as a teenager and was quickly convinced that they were absolute trash, because people older and smarter and more confident than me said so and all agreed. As we all know, that aversion is weakening now as those of us who grew up with the prequels get old enough to assert that actually they're not *that* bad, that Revenge is pretty good, that a lot of the surrounding material set in the prequel era was great, and that the clone war setting is worth further exploration. I'm very, very curious as to whether the same thing happens for the Sequels. Will they be reclaimed when the generations they were made for are old enough to tell us oldsters to shut up and leave their films alone? I doubt it'll happen to the same extent as the Prequels, largely because of the absence of further material fleshing out that world. Prequel reclaiming is built as much on things like the two animated series', Battlefront 2 and Republic Commando as it is on the films themselves, and I don't think the sequel era got the same love and supplementary material.

I would only let my kids enjoy stuff this isn't trying to brainwash them. Sadly most shit these days has some sort of "Agenda" or "Message". Which is fine, good vs evil. Moral dilemmas, these type of things make movies interesting. My problem is when they start getting too specific, into real world issues and politics. That type of shit needs to stop and they should focus on story first with any message or lessons being universal and not speicifc to a minority of a single political party. Or keep going the way we are going and pretty soon we won't have movies they will just show poltiical campaign ads to kids and call it a day.

You should definitely react to the new Matilda the Musical. It adapts the stage version wonderfully, everyone gives it their all in very stage-like performances. The children are all having a blast, as well as the adults. I find the Devito film okay, but as a Brit I much prefer seeing the Musical capture the very British story Roald Dahl wrote. Also they did in no way tone down how cruel The Trunchbull is. Emma Thompson kills it as her.

I always thought the ‘Rick and Morty 100 years…’ was a reference to real life public access to content. The references to other movies/pop culture using free use/domain stuff or finding a way to make limitations in what can be shown and shown as modified content available to the public. For now it’s Rick and Morty as the creators make it. In 100 years it will be different because it’s anyone’s to use and reference without paying a fee. And at that point if it’s still relevant people will absolutely hop on the chance to make it their own. I feel like that’s why there’s such an importance in the show of following narrative vs breaking narrative and perusing ones one content unchanged over prolonged periods without the audience causing it to change by modifying it or demanding changes. I think this episode and so much commentary to George Lucas and how Rick and Morty won’t follow set up plots unless they want to aka in their own time/rate not back to back episodes making the story one event after the other every 3 episodes it happens every 12. Like if there was a continuing thread it’s drawn out longer but it still has payoff it’s not your main cast taking 3 episodes to travel to a new place accomplish a goal and move to a new place. (A beach arch or any plot arch in a long term series its still part 1 part 2 etc broken into episodes, this show doesn’t do that.) They choose to stay in the relative same spot of comfort. The problem has to come to them while they go about their daily things. It’s more like it’s always sunny in Philadelphia, as a family unit there might be thread lines returning characters references or repeating plots but the shenanigans have to happen and take center stage. The continuous stuff is background it’s not center stage because the main focus is the unchanging cast in a set location: the bar. (With minor reoccurring alternate locations prison/the waitress cafe/Frank’s and Charlie’s room vs Dees house

Also their entire lore relies on retconning. Heck even take something like The Mandalorian where in the ending SPOILER---- They couldn't HELP THEMSELVES just shoehorning Luke Skywalker in. The story didn't need him to appear, but they just couldn't help throwing him in which kind of encapsulates the whole star wars problem.
