I like how Volgin is just plain evil and all around a monster. That adds contrast to many of the other antagonists and also makes very satisfying for his 2 downfalls.

I like how MGS3 has a villain that you’re not entirely sure you want to fight with The Boss, and also has Volgin who’s just a sadistic lunatic you can’t wait to finish off.

I know everyone says Volgin knew Venom wasn't who he was because of the eyes. I say we know Volgin has a much more effective way of finding out how much of a handful someone is.

Honestly I have thought that primary inspiration for Volgin was Bison from STREET FIGHTER In both cases they are "supervillain" dictator type antagonist, that has massive military power, but also skilled in supernatural psychic power. Especially considering that his father 01:07 looks nearly identical to Bison

Kind of weird Metal Gear never did much with the whole superpowers angle. Between Volgin's Electricity manipulation, the Sorrow's Telepathy and Psycho Mantis's telekinesis you'd figure we'd get more soldiers with insane powers rather than just fancy tech.

Well, you could also include Vulcan Raven into that mix since he had shamanic powers, and then their's Fortune who was able to stop Revolver Ocelot's missile attack, so i guess there were a few characters with supernatural powers.

Wasn't expecting a Meti vid, but like always, it's a pleasant surprise and just about made my day. The fact that it was another Metal Gear vid, and was about Volgin? Just perfect.

THANK YOU for mentioning that volgin genuinely cares about raikov! it’s one of his few redeeming / humanising character traits and people overlook it so much when it really adds a more realistic aspect to his character - that even people who seem irredeemably evil are still human. those two genuinely care about each other (raikov is pissed at snake in portable ops for killing volgin) and it’s their only positive traits lmao

Ironically, Volgin is stronger than Kaminari, since Volgin has 10 million volts in his body while Kaminari could only go to 2 million before going dumb and useless

unlikely, especially when you consider the difference between how he treats tatyana / eva and raikov. tatyana is covered in scars, but raikov isn’t; he commands tatyana, but he waits for raikov; he doesn’t care for tatyana’s wellbeing (literally not caring that ocelot wanted to try and kill her, saying “do as you like”), but he’s violently defensive of raikov ("i will make him pay for hurting ivan”, “you will pay for what you did to ivan” / “i will avenge ivan”) plus, the whole interaction if you wear the raikov mask during his boss battle!

@enenra6417 I will say I never got that impression maybe it's confirmed in a codec but from my perspective he's gay and tortured Eva for his sick pleasure since hurting her would motivate sokolov. Secondly I more got the impression that Eva was actually messing around with boss since when you drag her through the forest their are voice lines that are a Lil sus.

@blindjustice5695 nah Eva wasn't messing around with the boss it seems that the boss saw her more as a kindred spirit due to their similar backgrounds. And after the torture scene Volgin tells Eva to meet him in his room even after he just 'killed' Sokolov. Also Sokolov says that Tatyana was Volgin's lover
